A Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system is a nonlinear multi-input multi-output (MIMO) system. This system is very difficult to control the temperature and the humidity ratio of a thermal space because of complex nonlinear characteristics. This paper proposes an adaptive fuzzy output feedback control based on observer for the nonlinear HVAC system. The nonlinear HVAC system is linearized through dynamic extension. State observers are designed for estimating state variables of the HVAC system. Fuzzy systems are employed to approximate uncertain nonlinear functions of the HVAC system with unavailable state variables. The obtained controller compares with an adaptive feedback controller. Simulation is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed adaptive fuzzy method.

This paper proposes an architecture of a real-time EtherCAT master library called RtEML. The controls EtherCAT slaves under EtherCAT protocol in real-time. It provides a simple programming interface which is useful in developing robot application in C/C++ or C#. To achieve deterministic, hard real-time control in Microsoft Windows environment without additional hardware, INtime is used. Since INtime is designed specifically to take advantage of the powerful capabilities of the x86 processor architecture, the proposed RtEML achieves microseconds of real-time performance.
Fault Detection and Diagnosis of Winding Short in BLDC Motors Based on Fuzzy Similarity

The turn-to-turn short is one major fault of the motor faults of BLDC motors and can appear frequently. When the fault happens, the motor can be operated without breakdown, but it is necessary to maintain the motor for continuous working. In past research, several methods have been applied to detect winding faults. The representative approaches have been focusing on current signals, which can give important information to extract features and to detect faults. In this study, current sensors were installed to measure signals for fault detection of BLDC motors. In this study, the Park's vector method was used to extract the features and to isolate the faults from the current measured by sensors. Because this method can consider the three-phase current values, it is useful to detect features from one-phase and three-phase faults. After extracting two-dimensional features, the final feature was generated by using the two-dimensional values using the distance equation. The values were used in fuzzy similarity to isolate the faults. Fuzzy similarity is an available tool to diagnose the fault without model generation and the fault was converted to the percentage value that can be considered as possibility of the fault.

Support Vector Machine based on Stratified Sampling

Support vector machine is a classification algorithm based on statistical learning theory. It has shown many results with good performances in the data mining fields. But there are some problems in the algorithm. One of the problems is its heavy computing cost. So we have been difficult to use the support vector machine in the dynamic and online systems. To overcome this problem we propose to use stratified sampling of statistical sampling theory. The usage of stratified sampling supports to reduce the size of training data. In our paper, though the size of data is small, the performance accuracy is maintained. We verify our improved performance by experimental results using data sets from UCI machine learning repository.

Two Fuzzy Controllers Alternating for Cartpole System

A control system composed of two fuzzy controllers is proposed to balance the pole as well as to move the cart to the center of the track of the cartpole system. The two fuzzy controllers are designed with 2 input variables respectively and their control characters are studied in order to devise a control scheme that alternates the two fuzzy controllers. It is found that the control system using the scheme works well even though there is some residual oscillations of the pole and the cart.
