Performance of SDR-Based Digital-IF Channelization for Dual-Band DS-CDMA System in Wideband Multipath Channel

In this paper, we analyzed the performance of SDR-based dual-band CDMA system in wideband multipath channel employing RAKE receiver with MRC diversity. For the simulation of SDR-based dual-band CDMA system, we used digital IF techniques, polyphase analysis filter bank as channelizer. Also, Remez exchange algorithm is employed in the realization of the digital filter in the polyphase analysis filter bank. For performance analysis of dual-band CDMA system, we consider power loss of IF signal after passing through channel and the filter. Also, the performance for different sampling rates is analyzed.

With the commercialization of CDMA 2000-1x late in 2000, a high-speed wireless Internet, based on a mobile communication networks, appeared in Korea. This will develop into the next-generation of mobile communications(4G) in the future and the new cell layout will be required the cellular configuration of 4G. We would need the legislation with respect to base-stations and to building the mobile communication networks, as well as the optimization of mobile communication systems. In this study, in order to provide 4G, I examined and analyzed that the current laws & regulations related to licensing and operating a mobile communication base-stations in KOREA.
A Study of TCP Performance with Snoop Protocol over Fading Wireless Links

In this paper, we have analyzed TCP performance over wireless correlated fading links with and without Snoop protocol. For a given value of the packet error rate, TCP performance without Snoop protocol is degraded as the fading is getting fast (i.e. the user moves fast). When Snoop protocol is introduced in the base station, TCP performance is enhanced in most wireless environments. Especially the performance enhancement derived from using Snoop protocol is large in fast fading channel. This is because packet errors become random and sporadic in fast fading channel and these random packet errors (mostly single packet errors) can be compensated efficiently by Snoop protocol's local packet retransmissions. But Snoop protocol can't give a large performance improvement in slow fading environments where long bursts of packet errors occur. Concerning to packet error rate, Snoop protocol results in the highest performance enhancement in the channel with mid-high values of packet error rate. This means Snoop protocol cannot fully fulfill its ability under too low or too high packet error rate environments.
Design and Implementation for Seamless Multimedia Messaging Service over WLAN and CDMA2000

MMS has been seen as the key application in its entry into the 3G mobile markets. Furthermore, the combination of WLAN and 3G wireless technologies will make MMS service more popular, bringing benefits to both service providers and their customers. To realize seamless MMS service over WLAN and CDMA2000 networks, we design and implement new platform architecture by reusing the existing standards and network elements at the same time. We employ loose coupling approach and Mobile IP approach to propose new platform architecture, interfacing MMSC with many existing components. Based on our platform architecture, we also present seamless MMS delivery implementations that can't be possible within the current MMS reference architecture. This paper will make a contribution for service providers to offer their customers with seamless MMS service over WLAN and CDMA2000 networks.
Performance analysis of MRC Diversity system for Detection of M-ary Signals on Rician Fading channel

The purpose of this paper is to theoretically analysis of performance of MRC diversity for detection of M-ary signals on the Rician fading channels. To do it, the difference between the approximation to bit error probability and the exact bit error rate (BER) in evaluating the performance of MPSK signals is investigated by numerical analyses. In addition, the performance evaluation of MDPSK signals in the independent branch diversity is performed by an integral-form expression in case of when MDPSK signal in MRC system is experiencing the Rician fading.
An Efficient Detection Algorithm for Quasi-Orthogonal Space-Time Block Code with Four Transmit Antennas

This paper proposes an efficient detection algorithm, which is composed of an interference nulling-and cancelling-based detection algorithm and a maximum likelihood (ML) detection algorithm having reduced numbers of signal points to be tested, for the quasi-orthogonal space-time code with four transmit antennas. When high-level modulation schemes are employed, the algorithm enables the quasi-orthogonal code to achieve near ML performance with a significant reduction in the computational load.
MIDI chord composition based on the chord generation and the auto accompaniment program

This paper shows the easy way to composite a music for non-musicians. Namely, only select a chord and put it to special program which called "the chord composition program", and then the composition program creates the rest chords. After doing this process, non-musicians overwrite their own melodies in accordance with created chords. Finally, they can perform their own music with the sound of master-keyboard and other sound sources by using the band-in-a-box program.x program.
Synchronization in Complex Systems

In this paper, we introduce a complex systems synchronization method using hyper-chaos circuit consist of State-Controlled Cellular Neural Network (SC-CNN). We make a complex systems using SC-CNN with the n-double scroll. A complex system is created by applying identical n-double scroll or non-identical n-double scroll and Chua's oscillator with weak coupled method to each cell. Complex systems synchronization were achieved using GS(Generalized Synchronization) method between the transmitter and receiver about each state variable in the SC-CNN.
Comparative Analysis of a Competitive Technology for a Major Electrical Power System

Currently, advanced countries invest lots of efforts to develop improvement of electric power production and supply, confronting environmental problems and new energy development. They set up long term plan focusing on electric power transmission infrastructure construction technology, establishment of the customer care service network using electric technologies, improvement of economic productivity by innovative electric technology, prevention of global warming gas and clean and efficient energy use etc. Comparing to those countries, the level of technologies that we have are in behind and moreover, technological resources are limited. Therefore, Korea is required to reconsider efficient distribution of R&D investment by concentrating on limited R&D resources to important technologies which could be stepping stone to gain competitive advantage. It can be done through comparative analysis of electric technologies among advanced countries and analysis of electric technology development policy.
A Comparative Analysis of Energy Policies and Joint R&D Programs in Advanced Nations

Currently, advanced countries such as European countries and Japan invest lots of efforts to develop improvement of electric power production and supply, environmental countermeasure, and renewable energy development. Accordingly, Korea has been putting efforts to all kinds of electric related technical development based on the mid-long term plan. Further, it is necessary to increase effectiveness of R&D investment by propelling joint research activities with advanced countries for development of important technologies. Based on this background, this study tries to find thought-provoking suggestions of energy projects, programs and policies. For a comparative analysis, Japan which is similar to Korea in terms of market size and policies, and EU where joint research has been actively carried out among nations are analyzed and compared to policies and joint R&D activities of Korea.
Similar Patterns for Semi-blind Watermarking

In this paper, we present a watermarking scheme based on the DWT (Discrete Wavelet Transform) and the ANN (Artificial Neural Network) to ensure the copyright protection of the digital images. The problem to embed watermark is not clear to select important coefficient in the watermarking. We used the RBF (Radial-Basis Function) to solve the problem. We didn't apply the whole wavelet coefficients, but applied to only the wavelet coefficients in the selected node. Using the ANN, although even the watermark casting process and watermark verification process are in public, nobody knows the location of embedding watermark except of authorized user. As the result, the watermark is good at the strength test-filtering, geometric transform and etc.
