Improvement of Handoff-state and QOS in Wireless Environment

In this paper, we propose for improving QoS in wireless micro cellular network using Cellular-IP/PRC(Paging Route Cache) with Paging Cache and Route Cache in Cellular-IP and propose for performance of realtime and non-real time handoff service using Handoff state machine Paging Route Cache. Although the Cellular-IP/PRC technology is devised for mobile internet communication, it bas its vulnerability in frequent handoff environment. On the other hand, Cellular IP combines the capability of cellular networks to provide high performance handoff and efficient location management of active and idle mobile users with the inherent flexibility, robustness and scalability found in IP networks. Also Cellular-IP/PRC use semi-soft handoff. During semi-soft hand off a mobile host may be in contact with either of the old and new base stations and receive packets from them. Packets intended to the mobile node are sent to both base stations and buffered, so when the mobile host eventually moves to the new location it can continue to receive packets without interruption. It should be suitable for realtime service such as multimedia traffic. But, much waste of resource will occur in this method, especially for non-real time services such as FTP and E-mail. Therefore, a new algorithm that performs different handoff according to characteristic of each traffic by use of reserved field in IP packet is proposed in this thesis. This hand off state machine using differentiated handoff improves quality of services in Cellular-IP/PRC. Suggested algorithm shows better performance than existing technology in wireless mobile internet communication environment. Matlab simulation results are improving QoS, show call drop and call blocking provided to Paging Router Cache during handoff state machine in Cellular-IP/PRC.
Design of Underwater Ad-hoc Communication Protocol for Underwater Acoustic Networks

In this paper a cross layer protocol, referred to as an underwater ad-hoc communication (UAC) protocol, is proposed for underwater acoustic networks (UANets). An underwater node (UN), which tries to transfer data to another UN or a buoy in ad-hoc manner, can access channel as well as determine routing path by employing the UAC protocol. The channel access, route determination, and reliable data transfer are designed being adaptive to underwater environments. In addition, we propose both UN and packet architectures in order to efficiently implement the UAC protocol for UANets.

The composite stock cutting problem is defined as allocating rectangular and irregular patterns onto a large composite stock sheet of finite dimensions in such a way that the resulting scrap will be minimized. In this paper, we introduce a novel approach to hybrid optimization algorithm called MGA in MPI (Message Passing Interface) environments. The proposed MGA combines the benefit of rapid convergence property of Mean Field Annealing and the effective genetic operations. This paper also proposes the efficient data structures for pattern related information.

A finger language helping hearing impaired people in communication A sign language helping hearing impaired people in communication is not popular to ordinary healthy people. In this paper, we propose a method for real-time sign language recognition from a vision system using color information and fuzzy clustering system. We use YCbCr color model and canny mask to decide the position of hands and the boundary lines. After extracting regions of two hands by applying 8-directional contour tracking algorithm and morphological information, the system uses FCM in classifying sign language signals. In experiment, the proposed method is proven to be sufficiently efficient.
Convergence Analysis of Noise Robust Modified AP(affine projection) Algorithm

According to increasing projection order, the AP algorithm bas noise amplification problem in large background noise. This phenomenon degrades the performances of the AP algorithm. In this paper, we analyze convergence characteristic of the AP algorithm and then suggest a noise robust modified AP algorithm for reducing this problem. The proposed algorithm normalizes the update equation to reduce noise amplification of AP algorithm, by adding the multiplication of error power and projection order to auto-covariance matrix of input signal. By computer simulation, we show the improved performance than conventional AP algorithm.
Computational Methods of Average Wind Speed and Direction

Wind speed and wind direction are usually taken using two parameters: wind speed and wind direction. This paper studies the average wind speed and direction calculation methods. The paper first introduces to basic wind`s knowledge, and then presents several methods in calculating average wind speed and direction. Lastly some graphs are plotted base on these computational methods and the implementation of these methods in an actual buoy system.

opportunistic spectrum access (OSA) allows unlicensed users to share licensed spectrum in space and time with no or little interference to primary users, with bring new research challenges in MAC design. We propose a cognitive MAC protocol using statistical channel information and selecting appropriate idle channel for transmission. The protocol based on the CSMA/CA, exploits statistics of spectrum usage for decision making on channel access. Idle channel availability, spectrum hole sufficiency and available channel condition will be included in algorithm statistical information. The model include the control channel and data channel, the transmitter negotiates with receiver on transmission parameters through control channel, statistical decision results (successful rate of transmission) from exchanged transmission parameters of control channel should pass the threshold and decide the data transmission with spectrum hole on data channel. A dynamical sensing range as a important parameter introduced to maintain the our protocol performance. The proposed protocol`s simulation will show that proposed protocol does improve the throughput performance via traditional opportunistic spectrum access MAC protocol.
Performance Evaluation of Q-Algorithm with Tag Number Estimation Scheme

EPCglobal Class-1 Gen-2 standard proposed Q-algorithm to select a frame size for the next query round. Q-algorithm calculates the frame size without estimating the number of tags. Therefore, the Q-algorithm has advantage that the reader`s algorithm is simpler than other algorithms. However, it is impossible to allocate the optimized frame size. Also. the conventional Q-algorithm does not define an optimized parameter value C for adjusting the frame size. In this paper, we propose a modified Q-algorithm with the tag number estimation scheme, and evaluate the performance with computer simulations.
Edge Adaptive Color Interpolation for Ultra-Small HD-Grade CMOS Video Sensor in Camera Phones

This paper proposes an edge adaptive color interpolation for an ultra-small HD-grade complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) video sensor in camera phones that can process 720-p/30-fps videos. Recently, proposed methods with great image quality perceptually reconstruct the green component and then estimate the red/blue component using the reconstructed green and neighbor red and blue pixels. However, these methods require the bulky memory line buffers in order to temporally store the reconstructed green components. The edge adaptive color interpolation method uses seven or nine patterns to calculate the six edge directions. At the same time, the threshold values are adaptively adjusted by the sum of the color values of the selected pixels. This method selects the suitable one among the patterns using two flowcharts proposed in this paper, and then interpolates the missing color values. For verification, we calculated the peak-signal-to-noise-ratio (PSNR) in the test images, which were processed by the proposed algorithm, and compared the calculated PSNR of the existing methods. The proposed color interpolation is also fabricated with the 0.18-
CMOS flash memory process.
A Simple Shortest Path Algorithm for L-visible Polygons

The shortest path between two points inside a simple polygon P is a minimum-length path among all paths connecting them which don`t pass by the exterior of P. A linear time algorithm for computing the shortest path in a general simple polygon requires triangulating a given polygon as preprocessing. The linear time triangulating is known to very complex to understand and implement it. It is also inefficient in case that the input without very large size is given because its time complexity has a big constant factor. Two points of a polygon P are said to be L-visible from each other if they can be joined by a simple chain of at most two rectilinear line segments contained in P completely. An L-visible polygon P is a polygon such that there is a point from which every point of P is L-visible. We present the customized optimal shortest path algorithm for an L-visible polygon. Our algorithm doesn`t require triangulating as preprocessing and consists of simple procedures such as construction of convex hulls and operations for convex polygons, so it is easy to implement and runs very fast in linear time.

In this paper, we study and develope a special secure Dongle to be adapted in GSM SmartPhone for secure voice communication to the serial 20-pin connector in SmartPhone. We design and implement the Dongle module hardware, firmware, and software including cipher crypto-synchronization and cipher algorithm. Also we study and emulate the SmartPhone GUI software interface including communication software module to the Dongle. Finally, we analyze the performances of crypto-synchronization in some noisy environment and also we test the secure Dongle module.
Design of SVC-based Multicasting System Preserving Scalable Security

Scalable video coding (SVC) has been standardized as an extension of the H.264/AVC standard. SVC allows straightforward adaptation of video streams by providing layered bit streams. In this paper, we propose a SVC video-based multicasting system preserving scalable security which is able to provide a SVC video service while maintaining information security. In order to maintain information security between a server and a client during all transmission time, the proposed system immediately performs a packet filtering process without decoding with respect to encrypted data received in a routing device, thereby reducing an amount of calculations and latency.
Securing Mobile IP Registration Messages in Residential Networks

Residential network is the hybrid technology of wireless, Ethernet, Bluetooth and RF to the internet via broadband connection at home to facilitate the convenient, safe and pleasant daily lives of home user with various home network services regardless of device, time and place. For ubiquitous development more devices will be wireless and most of them will be roaming. Since these roaming devices carry private information of daily life of residential users, the interaction among the roaming devices of residential network must be secure. This paper presents to secure registration of roaming devices using IP Security (IPSec) Protocol Suite without the need to trust foreign agents.
A Measuring Model of the Position of Moving Vehicle based on Integrated Vehicle Networks for Spatial Database Applications

Recently car navigation systems which have been widely spread and evolved. The systems use various information and techniques such as real time traffic information and augmented reality technique. In order to provide a shortest path with good flow, real-time traffic information provided by DMB is required. Augmented reality technique is also introduced to give a reality to driver by displaying real images captured by camera during driving. However, these operate well when the system receives GPS data normally. Exact information about the positions of vehicles is a base that supports the above function with realities. This paper proposes a model for acquiring exact position of vehicles. When the GPS does not operate normally, the proposed model uses various data which are generated by integrated vehicle networks.

The most important of rule-base system is the knowledge base that determines the power of rule-base system. The important form of this knowledge is how to descript kinds of rules. The Rule-Base System (RBS) has been using in many field that need reflect quickly change of business rules in management system. As far, when develop the Rule-Based System, we must make a rule engine with a general language. There are three disadvantage of in this developed method. First, while there are many data that must be processed in the system, the speed of processing data will become very slow so that we cannot accept it. Second, we cannot change the current system to make it adaptive to changes of business rules as quickly as possible. Third, large data make the rule engine become very complex. Therefore, in this paper, we propose the two important methods of raising efficiency of Rule-Base System. The first method refers to using the Relational database technology to process the rules of the Rule-Base System, the second method refers to a algorithm of according to Quine McCluskey formula compress the rows of rule table. Because the expressive languages of rule are still remaining many problems, we will introduce a new expressive language, which is Rule-Base Data Model short as RBDM in this paper.

The Electro Magnetic (EM) Acceleration and Deceleration (ACC/DCC) system of the Ferromagnetic Ball(FB) is the linear motor`s final structural development which can be used for devices that conserve energy, gaming or rail gun. By accelerating the FB within the coil structure, it is difficult to utilize the FB`s magnetizing feature via the ACC/DCC system. There is much monopole space inside the monopole coil. By using this particular feature of the FB, starting coil and Monopole Coil Structure (MCS) can be structurally separated and another simple electric related control system can be experimented for further development. For the purpose of development a review is needed of the control system of both basic stepper motor and BLDC motor.

Large-scaled area and aligned copper oxide nanowires have been synthesized by a vapor-phase approach to the facial synthesis of copper oxide nanowires supported on the surface of a copper gasket. The effects of annealing temperature and time were investigated. Long and aligned nanowires can only formed within a narrow temperature range from 400 to
for 4 hrs. Annealing copper gasket in static air produces large-area, uniform, but not well vertically aligned nanowires along the copper gasket surface. The surface of copper gasket is converted into bicrystal CuO nanowires was observed after the copper gasket is annealed under static air condition.
Delay Time Reliability of Analog and Digital Delay Elements for Time-to-Digital Converter

In this paper, the delay times were evaluated to develop highly reliable time-to-digital converter(TDC) in analog and digital delay element structures. The delay element can be designed by using current source or inverter. In case of using inverter, the number of inverter has to be controlled to adjust the delay time. And in case of using current source, the current for charging and discharging is controlled. When the current source is used the delay time of the delay element is not sensitive with varying the channel width of CMOS. However, when the inverter is used the delay time is directly related to the channel width of CMOS. Therefore to obtain good reliability in TDC circuit the delay element using current source is more stable compared to inverter in the viewpoint of the variation of fabrication process.
Threshold Voltage Dependence on Bias for FinFET using Analytical Potential Model

This paper has presented the dependence of the threshold voltage on back gate bias and drain voltage for FinFET. The FinFET has three gates such as the front gate, side and back gate. Threshold voltage is defined as the front gate bias when drain current is 1 micro ampere as the onset of the turn-on condition. In this paper threshold voltage is investigated into the analytical potential model derived from three dimensional Poisson`s equation with the variation of the back gate bias and drain voltage. The threshold voltage of a transistor is one of the key parameters in the design of CMOS circuits. The threshold voltage, which described the degree of short channel effects, has been extensively investigated. As known from the down scaling rules, the threshold voltage has been presented in the case that drain voltage is the 1.0V above, which is set as the maximum supply voltage, and the drain induced barrier lowing(DIBL), drain bias dependent threshold voltage, is obtained using this model.
Heart Rate Estimation Based on PPG signal and Histogram Filter for Mobile Healthcare

The heart rate is the most important vital sign in diagnosing heart status. The simple method to measure the heart rate in the mobile healthcare device is using the PPG signal. In developing the mobile healthcare device using the PPG signal, the most important issue is the inaccuracy of the measured heart rate because the PPG signal is distorted from the user`s motions. To improve the problem, this study proposed the new method that is to estimate the heart rate without an additional sensor in real life. The proposed method in this study is using the histogram filter. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed method, the study compares its results with the moving average method in motion environment. According to the experimental results, the performance of the proposed method was more than 40% better than the performances of the MAF.
Development of Linguistic Contents for Contextual Dialogue

New teaching and studying methods using educational contents are gradually widespread with the advancement of information and communication technology. As educational contents, in this paper, we design and implement linguistic contents for studying essential expressions applied to various situations of real life. In detail, the linguistic contents are run on web environments, and have suitable animations for learning essential expressions based on several foreign languages in contextual dialogues. Also, useful functions are included in contents to reinforce what users have learned.
Performance Study for S-MAC in Wireless Sensor Networks

Efficient energy management is a very important issue in wireless sensor network since wireless sensor nodes are usually battery-powered. Recently, S-MAC protocol based on low duty-cycle has been proposed to reduce energy consumption. Even though research effort has been made to evaluate performance of S-MAC by conducting various simulations, however, some important simulation parameters are not well evaluated yet. In this paper, we identify the performance of S-MAC under different amount of streams and different patterns such as data rate and traffic. Through analyzing the simulation results, we discover weakness of S-MAC as well as analyze impact of amount of streams and packet pattern.
