Everyday, technology is evolved in many different disciplines. Computer and smart devices revolution take part of the evolved technology that continuously promising new features. Moreover, social networks services recently become widely popular, which most people in the world become a social-network-fond. In addition to the revolution of the evolved technology and social networks services, ubiquitousness is taking significant part in our daily lives. Although, there are many e-learning systems already existed, which use Internet technology along with a Web technology to provide education in various ways, in despite of that, there is no such existing system exploits the usefulness of smart devices along with the legacy of the online social networks besides the power of the ubiquitous computing technology. Therefore, we propose a smart device application, which fills the gap that has been missing in the recent contemporary era. It is an application that runs on smart devices particularly Smartphone devices; we call our system “Smart Device based Social E-learning System(SDES)”. We have preliminary implemented our system on Android OS. In this paper, we intentionally propose the system in order to ease the way people learn, to provide interactive accessibility in our system, and to utilize the advanced technology more wisely.
Enhancement Plan for Overall Disaster Prevention System

In Korea, overall disaster prevention system or 119 emergency rescue system has been established to protect life and fortune of citizens. This system supports command & control operation, emergency 119 caller location indicator, automatic formation of fire troops and dispatch, and emergency management. To do this, various new information technologies such as GIS, telematics, CTI and TTS are applied to implement the system. In the future, however, it is not impossible to prevent a large scale disasters caused by world climate environment change and complication of city culture using the current system. In this paper, we propose enhancement plan for overall disaster prevention system to solve this problem.
Experimental Investigation of Differential Line Inductor for RF Circuits with Differential Structure

A Differential line inductor is proposed for a differential power amplifier. The proposed differential line inductor is composed of two conventional line inductors rearranged to make the current direction of the two line inductors identical. The proposed line inductor is simulated with a 2.5-D and a 3-D EM simulator to verify its feasibility with the substrate information in a 0.18-
RF CMOS process. The inductances of various line inductors implemented with printed circuit boards were measured. The feasibility of the proposed line inductor was successfully demonstrated.

In this paper, we designed and implemented an internal multi-band folded monopole antenna for mobile handset. The proposed antenna covers Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM900: 880~960 MHz), Digital Communications System (DCS: 1710~1880 MHz), US-Personal Communications Service (US-PCS: 1850~1990 MHz), Bluetooth(2400~2484 MHz), WiMAX(3400~3600 MHz), and Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN: 5150~5350 MHz, 5725~5875 MHz) band for Voltage Standing Wave Ratio
. The measured peak gains of the implemented antenna are -1.78dBi at 920MHz, 2.72dBi at 1795MHz, 2.25dBi at 1920MHz, 2.34dBi at 2442MHz, 2.11 dBi at 3550MHz, and 2.04 dBi at 5250MHz.
An Implementation Scheme for the Detection System of RFID Defective Tags Using LabVIEW OOP

In this paper, we suggest the object-oriented methodology for the design and implementation scheme for the program development in the application of control and instrumentation such as the detection system of RFID defective tags which needs the embedded programming. We apply the design methodology of UML in the system design phase, and suggest the implementation scheme of LabVIEW programs using LVOOP(LabVIEW Object Oriented Programming)in which make it possible to write the object-oriented programming. We design the class diagram and the sequence diagram using UML, and write the classes of LVOOP from the designed class diagram and the main VI from the sequence diagram, respectively. We show that it is possible to develop the embedded programs such as the RFID application through the implementation example of the detection system of RFID defective tags in this paper. And, we obtain the advantages based on the object-oriented design and implementation using the LVOOP approach such as the development of LabVIEW programs by adding the classes and the concept of object of the object-oriented language to LabVIEW.
Sensing Optimization for an Receiver Structure in Cognitive Radio Systems

This paper describes the optimization of spectrum sensing in terms of the throughput of a cognitive radio (CR) system. Dealing with the optimization problem of spectrum sensing, this paper evaluates the throughput of a CR system by considering such situations as the penalty time of a channel search and incumbent user (IU) detection delay caused by a missed detection of an incumbent signal. Also, this paper suggests a serial channel search scheme as the search method for a vacant channel, and derives its mean channel search time by considering the penalty time due to the false alarm of a vacant channel search. The numerical results suggest the optimum sensing time of the channel search process using the derived mean channel search time of a serial channel search in the case of a sensing hardware structure with single radio frequency (RF) path. It also demonstrates that the average throughput is improved by two separate RF paths in spite of the hardware complexity of an RF receiver.
40 Gbps RZ Transmission Using Dispersion Compensation of Single-Span in Optical Transmission Links with Multi-Span of Single Mode Fiber

In dispersion management (DM) and optical phase conjugation applied into optical transmission links with multi fiber spans for minimizing the impact of nonlinearity and group velocity (GVD), implementation possibility of DM using only one fiber span for pre- or postcompensation was assessed as a function of duty cycle of RZ pulse and residual dispersion per span (RDPS). It is confirmed that DM with optimal net residual dispersion (NRD) controlled by only one fiber span could be sufficiently applied into optical transmission links, though optimal NRD is more increased than that in transmission links with the general DM scheme of pre- and postcompensation. Thus, it is expected that optical transmission system is simply designed and implemented by applying the proposed DM scheme into real optical transmission links. Also, it is confirmed that the advantageous duty cycle of RZ is 0.5 and RDPS is setting to be small value for the effective transmitting wide signal wavelength range in optical links with optimal NRD controlled by only one fiber span.
Centralized Backoff Control Scheme in Slotted CDMA Systems

This paper proposes a centralized backoff control scheme for guaranteeing fair packet transmissions in S-ALOHA CDMA system. In S-ALOHA CDMA system, simultaneously transmitted packets act as multiple access interferences, so that unsuccessful packet transmissions are caused entirely by multiple access interferences. Therefore, in order to maximize the system performance, the levels of MAI should be kept at an optimal level. In the proposed scheme, the base station broadcasts the packet transmission probability, which is calculated based on the level of MAI. Mobile stations attempt to transmit their packet with the received probability. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can guarantee a good fairness among all the mobile stations.
A Scheme for Guaranteeing Fair Identification Delay in Gen-2 RFID Systems

In RFID System, when multiple tags respond simultaneously, a collision can occur. A method that solves this collision is referred to anti-collision algorithm. In Gen-2 RFID system, if the slot-count size varies during a query round due to the collisions, a new query round begins with a QueryAdjust command. Anti-collision algorithm of Gen-2 RFID system is simple. But, it has the tag starvation problem that a tag may never be successfully identified because its responses always collide with others. Therefore, this paper proposes a scheme to guarantee the fair identification delay. In the proposed scheme, if the slot-count value changes due to the collisions, the reader broadcasts a CollisionRound command to begin a collision round. During the collision round, the reader identifies only tags that occurred collision during the previous query round.

Recently there are so many media contents created and used by variety routes. Therefore, it is essential to make a new platform which is used for distributing media contents include IPTV. With open IPTV service, developing the new platform became even more important. Because open IPTV makes it possible for consumers to choose contents regardless of contents of the providers. The new platform has to accept current variety service structure. MPEG-21 multimedia framework was developed to satisfy these needs. It presented the distribution framework of the contents but didn't restrict the particular solutions for protecting the rights. The Method to Measure Saliency Values for Salient Region Detection from an Image

In this paper we introduce an improved method to measure saliency values of pixels from an image. The proposed saliency measure is formulated using local features of color and a statistical framework. In the preprocessing step, rough salient pixels are determined as the local contrast of an image region with respect to its neighborhood at various scales. Then, the saliency value of each pixel is calculated by Bayes' rule using rough salient pixels. The experiments show that our approach outperforms the current Bayes' rule based method.
An Effective Noise Estimator for Use in Noise Reduction

Conventional noise reduction filtering schemes realize limited improvements of the peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) in the low-level noisy images. The flatness degree and the edge information are effectively used to estimate the noise volume. We propose a noise estimator for reducing noise in the AWGN (additive white gaussian noise) corrupted images using three intermediate image maps (FGM(flatness gray map), FIM(flatness index map), NEM(noise estimate map)). The proposed noise estimator is fed into the conventional noise reduction filters as a pre-processor. The performance of noise reduction is tested in the various AWGN corrupted images.
Study on Mobile Meteorological Information Services for Urban Area

On the limited urban area, precise measurement of meteorological data is not easy for the cost problem. The facilities collecting the data require high installment costs. The mobile sources can be a solution in city region. For example, a public bus on which some meteorological sensors are installed can act as moving information gathering station. The information is gathered on a server and aggregated to generate useful information for smart phone application. To implement the services, several obstacles are exists. This paper studies on a design of this mobile meteorological information service system for urban area.
Disaster Events Detection using Twitter Data

Twitter is a microblogging service that allows its user to share short messages called tweets with each other. All the tweets are visible on a public timeline. These tweets have the valuable geospatial component and particularly time critical events. In this paper, our interest is in the rapid detection of disaster events such as tsunami, tornadoes, forest fires, and earthquakes. We describe the detection system of disaster events and show the way to detect a target event from Twitter data. This research examines the three disasters during the same time period and compares Twitter activity and Internet news on Google. A significant result from this research is that emergency detection could begin using microblogging service.
PSPICE Modeling of Commercial ICs for Switch-Mode Power Supply (SMPS) Design and Simulation

PSPICE modeling of a commercial LED driver IC (TOP245P) and PC817A optocoupler is proposed for the switch-mode power supply (SMPS) (applicable to LED driver) design and simulation. An analog behavioral model of the TOP245P IC including the shunt regulator, under-voltage(UV) detection, over-voltage(OV) shut-down and SR flip-flop is developed by using PSPICE. The empirical equation of PC817A current transfer ratio (CTR) is fitted from the datasheet of PC817A. Two types of SMPSs are simulated with the averaged-model and switching-model. The simulation results by the proposed PSPICE models are in good agreement with those in the data sheet and an experimental data.
A New Capacitive Sensing Circuit using Modified Charge Transfer Scheme

This paper proposes a new circuit for capacitive sensing based on Dickson's charge pump. The proposed touch sensing circuit includes three stages of NMOS diodes and capacitors for charge transfer. The proposed circuit which has a simplified capacitive touch sensor model has been analyzed and simulated by Spectre using Magna EDMOS technology. Looking from the simulation results, the proposed circuit can effectively be used as a capacitive touch sensing circuit. Moreover, a simple structure can provide maximum flexibility for making a digitally-controlled touch sensor driver with lowpower operations.

Abstract. Image segmentation is always a challenging task in computer vision as well as in pattern recognition. Nowadays, this method has great importance in the field of stereo vision. The disparity information extracting from the binocular image pairs has essential relevance in the fields like Stereoscopic (3D) Imaging Systems, Virtual Reality and 3D Graphics. The term 'disparity' represents the horizontal shift between left camera image and right camera image. Till now, many methods are proposed to visualize or estimate the disparity. In this paper, we present a new technique to visualize the horizontal disparity between two stereo images based on image segmentation method. The process of comparing left camera image with right camera image is popularly known as 'Stereo-Matching'. This method is used in the field of stereo vision for many years and it has large contribution in generating depth and disparity maps. Correlation based stereo-matching are used most of the times to visualize the disparity. Although, for few stereo image pairs it is easy to estimate the horizontal disparity but in case of some other stereo images it becomes quite difficult to distinguish the disparity. Therefore, in order to visualize the horizontal disparity between any stereo image pairs in more robust way, a novel stereo-matching algorithm is proposed which is named as "Quadtree Segmentation of Pixels Disparity Estimation (QSPDE)".
Study on Efficient Telemedicine System Design for Ambulance Emergency Situation

Telemedicine system means a remote support system among 4 remote telemedicine services of u-Health. A currently available service in Korea is the one checking and maintaining patient's status and supporting in emergency through video communication between an ambulance transferring patients and hospital under HSDPA and WiBro environment with coding of MPEG-2 and MPEG-4. With that, this paper improves the stability of the current telemedicine system service of ambulance confirms the improvement compared to the old system by generating a system communicating by RTP/RTCP under coding process through H.264/AVC after converting RGB video to YUV in order to improve network efficiency.
Analysis Method of Digital Forgeries on the Filtered Tampered Images

Digital forensics is the emerging research field for determining digital forgeries. Key issues of the tampered images are to solve the problems for detecting the interpolation factor and the tampered regions. This paper describes a method to detect the interpolation factors and the forged maps using the differential method and fast Fourier transform(FFT) along the horizontal, vertical, and diagonal direction, respectively from digital filtered tampered images. The detection map can be used to find out interpolated regions from the tempered image. Experimental results demonstrate the proposed algorithm proves effective on several filtering images by adobe
and show a ratio of detecting the interpolated regions and factors from digital filtered composite images.
Effective Model and Methods for Analysing Human Factors in Software Design for Efficient User Experience

In software system development, an application interface is the main communication platform between human developers and applications. Interaction in any software application requires human's mental and physical activities. Although software systems have increased drastically in diverse sectors and many forms to quench human's needs and satisfactions, human always concern about the ease in usability of the software application so that it can be easily understood and navigated. Since many software developers still focus on the quantity of contents instead of the quality of the interface from the user's point of view, it is important to address human factors need in the early stage of the design and to continue addressing them during the entire stages of the software design for the persistent support of usability. In this paper, we propose the Modified Prototype Model (MPM), which helps the software designers and developers to design user-friendly software systems with easy-to-navigate interfaces by uncovering human factors in a convenient way. Moreover, we propose methods that assist to identify more human factors regarding software design. In this paper, we also study the implications of the proposed model and the proposed methods.
Computing the Dominating-Free Set by Two Point Sets in the Plane

In this paper, we study the dominating-free sest which is defined as follows: k points called servers and n points called clients in the plane are given. For a point p in the plane is said to be dominated by a client c if for every server s, the distance between s and p is greater than the distance between s and c. The dominating-free set is the set of points in the plane which aren't dominated by any client. We present an O(nklogk+
) time algorithm for computing the dominating-free set under the
-metric. Specially, we present an O(nlogn) time algorithm for the problem when k=2. The algorithm uses some variables and 1-dimensional arrays as its principle data structures, so it is easy to implement and runs fast.
The Change in News Video Production Environment by the Introduction of Network Production System

The production environment of fast and accurate news video has been continuously changing together with technology advance. Especially, the editing of the news video advanced focusing on the non-linear system by the introduction of digital technology and the recording of news video advanced to 'tapeless' base. In this new news video production environment, the recorded news videos are transmitted, edited and archived through the NPS (Network Production System), which dramatically improves the efficiency of the news video production. However, there are some issues which need to be resolved in the introduction of NPS. The purpose of this research is to identify the necessity of NPS introduction in the changing news video production environment, explore the issues which should be resolved and suggest the proper way to introduce the NPS to broadcasting companies.
A Study of Changes in Production by Domestic Broadcasters Using Virtual Studio

This paper is for investigation and analysis of how a visual studio is widely used by domestic broadcasting companies and broadcasting companies' production environment. The history of a visual studio goes back to start of computer graphic. A visual studio is a way to produce a program using graphic sets created by a computer rather than actual setting, and it allows to express beyond limitations of actual studio settings and various imagery visual effects can be created by a computer. A visual studio can create 3-dimensional graphic and these graphics can be inter-locked with actual camera images to make visual spaces for various programs. These flows are aiming to achieve very natural image which is hard to distinguish it is artificially created rather than just to produce programs with simple image synthesis, and this paper analyzes the producing changes of domestic broadcasting visual studios as well as its usage and suggests the idealist direction for developing the production.
