Bootstrap inference for covariance matrices of two independent populations

Estimation of nonlinear censored simultaneous equations models : An Application of Quasi Maximum Likelihood Methods

This paper presents a Monte Carlo evaluation of estimators for nonlinear consored simultaneous equations models. We examine the performance of the maximum likelihood estimator (MLE), the two-step quasi maximum likelihood estimator (2QMLE) proposed by Lee and Hurd (1989), and another quasi MLe using least squares at the first step (LSAE) under varying degrees of freedom and underlying distributions, Although QMLE's are not necessarily consistent, the Monte Carlo results show that the 2QMLE may be used as an alternative to MLE when MLE is not applicable in practice.
On asymptotically distribution-free test for ordered alternatives in two-way layouts

An Asymptotically distribution-free test is considered for testing parallelism against ordered alternatives in two-way layouts. The test procedure is based on a statistic which uses Jonckheere's idea after adjusting the block effects. Large-sample properties including the efficiency and limiting distribution of the test statistic are obtained. The proposed test is compared with other tests through a small-sample Monte Carlo study.
Nonparametric test procedures the changepoint problem with multiple observations

In the analysis of changepoint model the situation where single observation is taken at each time point has been considered. In an effort to extend this to the general situation, we may consider the changepoint model with more than one observation at each time point. These tests are developed without assuming any particular form for the underlying distribution, we propose the one-sided and two-sided nonparametric tests by extending the tests that have been considered in the changepoint model with single observation at each time point and obtain their asymptotic null distributions. We compare the empirical powers among the extended changepoint tests under one-sided or two-sided alternatives. We also compare the powers of the extended changepoint tests with those of the original test via the Monte Carlo simulation.
Principles for constructing taguchi experimental designs

Parameter design is the core of the Taguchi method, and its purpose is to design product or processes such that the performance of product becomes robust to noise. Taguchi recommends to use the so called orthogonal arrays for parameter design. The purpose of this paper is to clarify the principles involved in constructing the Taguchi orthogonal arrays. Understanding such principles may be useful for finding better ways of utilizing the Taguchi orthogonal arrays as well as for developing better experimental designs.
Statistical quality control in korea

In order to know the situation of statistical Quality Control in Korea, we have surveyedabout 4, 500 manufacturing companies in Korea. Among the first 4, 500 manufacturing companies, 2, 586 companies have answered for the questionairs of the sample survey. In this research a statistical analysis is conducted for the 2, 586 companies and diagnosis of the situation of Statistical Quality Control is Korea in presented in terms of levels of development and degrees of implementation.
On the characteristics of statistical expert system and a strategy to choose development tools

This paper describes the trend and inherent problems of the current statistical packages, and statistical expert system is suggested as an alternative to the conventional statistical packages. The paper then describes the components and characteristics of statistical expert system, and suggests a strategy to choose development tools to build a system.
Reliablity analysis of questionnaire/test items

In this tutorial lecture, basic theory underlying reliability analysis of questionnaire/test items is explained. Also, we analyze a real case with SPSS/PC+ reliability module and SAS correlation procedure, and discuss several relevant issues.
