Digital Mapping Based on Digital Ortho Images

In the recent day, the necessity and the effective usage are increased rapidly, and it is applied in many other fields as well as in the field of ortho-photo map. In this study, we extract each objects on the aerial image and automatically classify graphic information to produce digital map using only digital ortho-image without particular drawing devices for producing digital map. For this purpose, we have applied a lot of the image processing techniques and fuzzy theory, classified outline and lane of road and building, and had each layer according to each feature. Especially, in the case of the building, the outer vector lines extracted by pixel unit at the building were very complex, but we have developed the program to be expressed by I-dimensional linear type between building corners. In the result of this study, we could not extract and recognize all of the object on the image all together, but we have got the error within 50cm using semi-automatic technique. Therefore, this method will be used effectively in producing 1/5,000 digital map.
A Development of Gas Line Safety Management System by GIS

GIS is the system that has ability of integrating, managing, and analyzing the voluminous graphic and text data, which is adequate system to manage complex network of the underground utilities of urban area. A development of gas line safety management system is accomplished to construct a database of gas line network and topographic data, create safety managing model, and estimate openly its safety by GIS. This system is designed to evaluate easily the damaged facilities in case of gas line explosion by the establishment of the geographic output system. It is designed to trace and present efficiently closed valves and interrupted facilities of gas when gas line breakage occurs, and offer the information by which one can take quickly emergency. And also, it is constructed to prevent from accident occurring under construction work by showing underground utilities and states of work.
The Estimation of Recent Crustal Movement along the Cam Lo fault from repeated GPS data

The estimation of crustal movements along the Cam Lo fault (Quang Tri province, Vietnam) from repeated GPS data (1995-1998) is addressed in this paper. The study area is relatively small and locates at about latitude of N 16 40' 10" and longitude of E 106 58' 40" in the middle of Vietnam. The network consists of 6 points, is located in 3 tectonics units, baselines are from 3 km to 11 km. GPS observations were perforemed to the stations of our network during two campaigns in March 1995 and May 1998. Considering the relation of coordinate variation and its standard deviation based on the result, some remarks can be made: during interval from March, 1995 to May, 1998, there are movements in the investigated area, and the. vertical movements are stronger than horizontal ones. The above results will be favor in a geophysical interpretation of Cam Lo fault for geologists. This seems to be an encouraging result in studying activity of faults in Vietnam.n Vietnam.
The Deflection Measurement of Objects by the CCD Image Acquisition System

These days, the quantitative analysis of digital image by on-line image analysis system is being progressed actively, so the application of digital image is being groped in the safe test of construction. In this study, the synchronized 3D image acquisition and the system for processing that were established for analyzing the deflection of construction by using the acquired image from CCD camera. The reliability and the possibility of this established system are presented by deriving the accuracy of image analysis and the deflection of object through concrete loading test.
Extraction of Bridge Status Using Satellite Image Data

The aim of this study is to extract bridge location(center line and width of a bridge) from SPOT XS data with 20. The boundary pixels were computed to get the mixture proportions of classes and this mixture proportions were used to extract center line and width of a bridge. The accuracy was tested by comparing the extracted bridge center line coordinate and width to the existing 1:5,000 scale national digital map and field survey data. Establishing PC-based Object-Oriented Urban Infrastructure Information System using GPS and TotalStation

This study was performed to establish PC-based Urban Infrastructure Information System(UIIS) using GPS and TotalStation as an alternative to UNIX-based UIIS. After carryig out this study, the following conclusions were derived: PC-based UIIS costs less time and money than UNIX-based UIIS. The coordinates of the control point of the site were obtained using DGPS, then based on this point, locational data were obtained using RTK GPS and TotalStation in the site with realtime data capture to enhance the accuracy of locational data. And image data were also entered into database together with the text data. So, the multimedia database is possible in UIIS.
Detecting and Restoring Occlusion Area for Generating Digital Orthoimage

With the emergence of laser mapping systems, higher resolution DTM of urban area can be acquired and can be used to generate precise orthoimage. But, when the conventional orthoimage generation methods are applied to the area containing features with height difference such as cliffs, bridges, banks. elevated highways and buildings, they cause problems such as occlusion and double mapping. Therefore, this study proposes a new algorithm by modifying and refining conventional orthoimage generation methods. With this algorithm, areas which have occlusion are detected from the base image using camera orientation parameters and DTM. Also, detected areas are restored using alternative images which does not have occlusion in that area. This study can be distinguished from the other studies in the aspects that the proposed algorithm in this paper doesn't need information on building and that uses DTM data and orientation parameters.
The Estimation of DTM Accuracy of Aerial Digital Image with Non-photogrammetric Scanner

This study describes the precise DTM by image processing method through scanning the positive film of aerial photo using scanner instead of plotter. First, scanned the positive film of aerial photo by drum scanner and flatbed scanner in different resolution, and then compared the height from image processing method using auto correlation method with height which is taken using
grid in 1 :5,000 geographical map. It shows that heights from aerial photo image of high resolution obtained from scanner are comparable to the heights from 1：5,000 geographical map.
A Study on the Hydraulic Characteristic Extraction of Lake using GSIS

The water quality of inland stream is polluting with industrialization and urbanization, and with that water quality of lake also deteriorated, to manage water quality pollution problem of lake, new water quality management method is needed. As a pilot study of the method that manage water quality of lake using GSIS(Geo-Spatial Information System), we study the method which automatically extract the hydraulic characteristic informations of lake in GSIS environment. Also, as an example of practical use of the extracted hydraulic characteristic information of lake, we carry out the characteristic analysis of waterbody flow using finite different method. With the automation the extraction procedure of hydraulics characteristic information needed in characteristic analysis of waterbody flow, we carried out the analysis efficiently. Particularly, with the extraction of section information on lake not in layout form, in analyzable form, we make the analysis that section information of lake was indispenably required(e.g. stratification analysis) possible in GSIS environment.
