Registration of Aerial Video Frames for Generating Image Map

The increased availability of portable, low-cost, high resolution video equipments have resulted in a rapid growth of the applications for video sequences. These video devices can be mounted in handhold unit, mobile unit and airborne platforms like maned or unmaned helicopter, plane, airship, etc. This paper describes the feasibility fur generating image map from the experimental results we designed to track the interested points extracted by KLT operator in the neighboring frames and implement image matching for each frames taken from UAV (Unmaned Aerial Vehicle). In the image registration for neighbourhood frames of aerial video, the results demonstrate the successful rate of matching slightly decreases as the drift between frames increases, and also that the stable photographing is more important matching condition than the pixel shift.
The Advance of Object Join Technique for Digital Map Ver. 2.0

Normaly, the map generlization methode has been used for the making of small scale map using a large scale map. The object join methode is consumed of a lots of processing time and the manual process. The object Join technique used in the NGI based on the digital map ver. 1.0 have problems of poor Joining rate and a lots of processing time. This study has improved the object Join technique considering of the geometry and attribute information for the digital map ver. 2.0. Using improved technique increased joining rate of object and reduced the processing time.
Determination of Practical Orthometric Height for Permanent GPS Station

This study is about the calculation of practical orthometric height for permanent GPS station. We presented the method to determine the orthometric height precisely by combining leveling data, GPS data and gravimetry data, and determined the orthometric heights of thirty GPS stations. To test the result we developed the expected error model fur the determined orthometric heights regarding the accuracy of Korean national benchmarks and the precision of surveying methods used at this project. The reliability of the results was presented by comparing it with expected error model statistically.
Experiment on Transform of Cadastral Control Points to the New Korea Geodetic Datum for Connecting with National Geographic Information System

Cadastral control points in Korea are refered to various origins, for example an early separated small triangulation, a separated small triangulation, a separated control surveying origin and an unified origin. Cadastral map with early separated small triangulation origin have difficulties to connect with national GIS data by refered an unified origin. We determined transformation parameters from old origin to unified origin using 2D conformal transformation method. To evaluate of transformation accuracy, we compared with GPS field surveying results. And we experiment on coordinate transformations with unified results between the local geodetic datum and the new Korea geodetic datum.
Precise Positioning from GPS Carrier Phase Measurement Applying Stochastic Models for Ionospheric Delay

In case of more than 50km baseline length, the correlation between receivers is reduced. Therefore, there are still some rooms for improvement of its positional accuracy. In this paper, the stochastic modeling of the ionospheric delay is applied and its effects are analyzed. The data processing has been performed by constructing a Kalman filter with states of positions, ambiguities, and the ionospheric delays in the double differenced mode. Considering the medium or long baseline length, both double differenced GPS phase and code observations are used as observables and LAMBDA has been applied to fix the ambiguities. The ionospheric delay is stochastically modeled by well-known 1st order Gauss-Markov process. And the correlation time and variation of 1st order Gauss-Markov process are calculated. This paper gives analyzed results of developed algorithm compared with commercial software and Bernese.
Automatic Extraction of Roof Components from LiDAR Data Based on Octree Segmentation

The 3D building modeling is one of crucial components in building 3D geospatial information. The existing methods for 3D building modeling depend mainly on manual photogrammetric processes by stereoplotter compiler, which indeed take great amount of time and efforts. In addition, some automatic methods that were proposed in research papers and experimental trials have limitations of describing the details of buildings with lack of geometric accuracy. It is essential in automatic fashion that the boundary and shape of buildings should be drawn effortlessly by a sophisticated algorithm. In recent years, airborne LiDAR data representing earth surface in 3D has been utilized in many different fields. However, it is still in technical difficulties for clean and correct boundary extraction without human intervention. The usage of airborne LiDAR data will be much feasible to reconstruct the roof tops of buildings whose boundary lines could be taken out from existing digital maps. The paper proposed a method to reconstruct the roof tops of buildings using airborne LiDAR data with building boundary lines from digital map. The primary process is to perform octree-based segmentation to airborne LiDAR data recursively in 3D space till there are no more airborne LiDAR points to be segmented. Once the octree-based segmentation has been completed, each segmented patch is thereafter merged based on geometric spatial characteristics. The experimental results showed that the proposed method were capable of extracting various building roof components such as plane, gable, polyhedric and curved surface.
Analysis of Site Environment at Permanent GPS Stations Operated by National Geographic Information Institute

National Geographic Information Institute has installed the first permanent Global Positioning System (GPS) station SUWN in 1995 and, as of today, the number of sites is 14. In this study, we visited all the 14 stations and determined if the site mount and antenna configuration conforms to the international site guidelines published by International GNSS Service and National Geodetic Survey. The environment around each station was also checked for the possibility of causing positioning errors. In addition, the GPS data quality was evaluated using the quality-checking program called TEQC. As a result of site visits, we found that low stations (TABK, CHJU, KWNJ, and WNJU) have unfavorable environment and TEQC results validated it. TEQC results also showed that the GPS receiver change during years 2005-2006 reduced the multipath errors and the number of cycle slips at every station.
3D Building Model Texture Extraction from Multiple Spatial Imagery for 3D City Modeling

Since large portal service providers started web services for 3D city models around the world using spatial imagery, the competition has been getting intense to provide the models with the higher quality and accuracy. The building models are the most in number among the 3D city model objects, and it takes much time and money to create realistic model due to various shapes and visual appearances of building object. The aforementioned problem is the most significant limitation for the service and the update of the 3D city model of the large area. This study proposed a method of generating realistic 3D building models with quick and economical texture mapping using multiple spatial imagery such as aerial photos or satellite images after reconstructed geometric models of buildings from building layers in digital maps. Based on the experimental results, the suggested method has effectiveness for the generation of the 3D building models using various air-borne imagery and satellite imagery quickly and economically.
Strategies of Updating Road Framework Data by a Vehicle-based Kinematic Survey

The purpose of this study is to maximize the use of framework data by a method for updating road framework data using a economical, rapid, and accurate Vehicle-based kinematic survey to get the latest road data among "transportation framework data" which was built in 2003. We collected data using a Vehicle-based kinematic survey with DGPS (Differential Global Positioning System) in Daejeon and Pyeongtaek city and verified the accuracy of line and point features between surveying and previous results. The result showed that Daejeon city which is located near GPS CORS (Continuously Operating Reference Station)s and receive a signal well had lower errors than 1/5,000 digital base map, and Pyeongtaek city which is located far from the stations and receive a signal badly had errors beyond the limits. The study showed that postprocessing method or Total Station surveying should be used where signals cannot be detected well after analyzing a receiving rate from GPS CORSs, the stations of other organizations should be shared, and further studies are needed.
Establishment of the Real Time Logistics Information System Based on Web GIS

Enterprises requires the logistics information system to reduce logistics costs and ensure clearness of distribution. However, the system is adopted only by large corporations due to diversity of work and the initial cost for construction. In this study We have attempted to develop an information system capable of efficiently. Controlling and managing logistics by investigating division of duties and existing problem. Using small and medium-sized enterprises engaged in the distribution business as a model. For real-time monitoring of logistics information. We have constructed a system using new technologies such as GPS, mobile and wireless communications and made use of web GIS as infrastructure. Developed by the logistics information systems, We will control overall logistics work and reduce logistics costs and processing time as well.
