A Comparison of the Error Rate Performances of Various Digitally Modulated Signals in the Environment of Tone/Multiple Interferer

The error rate equations of digitally modulated signals transmitted through the Gaussian noise and tone multiple interference channel have been derived. Using the derived equations of error probabilities in the environments of Gaussian noise tone interferer and Gaussian noise multiple interferer, the error rate performances of various digitally modulated signals have been evaluated, and compared in graphs as a function of average carrier to tone interferer power ratio(CIR), average carrier to multiple interferer power ratio(CIT) and the average carrer-to-Gaussian noise powr ratio(CIR). In this paper, the modulation schemes such as amplitude shift keying (ASK), phase shift keying(PSK), frequency shift keying(FSK), minimum shift keying(MSK), quadrature amplitud modulation(QAM) and amplitude phase shift keying(APK) have been selected for the study of performance comparison. The results of comparison show us that, in low bits/sec/Hz, PSK is superior to the other schemes, but in high bits/sec/Hz, mixed multi ary type is better than single multi ary type. And in strong noise evironment, the multiple interferer has much influence than tone interferer, however, in low noise environment. the mojor error factor is tone interferer. But tone interference effect nearly disappears over specified CIR level about 20[dB]. And the modulation schemes using amplitude are heavily influenced by multiple interference.

The objective of this paper is to design and implement FLA(Front-end Language Analyzer) storing information to database, and BIS(Back-end Information System) analyzing completeness and consistency of database and generating all kinds of documents needed by user. By using this system to develop systems, we expect enhancement of software productivity and reliability.

A Study on the Design of the Terminal Repeater System for 565 Mb/s Optical Fiber Transmission

On assuming that the transmission speed of the original information is the fifth-order transmission speed of the Korea digital multiplex hierarchy (564.992Mb/s), this paper proposes a new structure of the transmission line frame at the terminal repeater system, in order to not only maintain and conserve 565Mb/s optical fiber transmission system but also make the B.S.I. of digital communication network for the optical transmission. And the structure uses the mBIZ transmission line code, which is considered the optimal transmission line code of conventional transmission line codes. System hardware of the transmission line frame structure proposed in this paper is consisted by a method of pulse stuffing after converting the speed of the original information signal sequence at the terminal repeater system for 565Mb/s optical transmission. As a result of this, we can prevent the optical transmission system from a domino phenomenon, the phenomenon of the continuous error multiplication of systems by the transmission error, and suppress timing jitter and the identical consecutive digit number. And also we can improve SNR of the optical transmission system about 2dB because of raising total BER at the optical terminal system up to 10.
Comparisons of AIC and MDL on Estimation Reliability of Number of Soureces in Direction Finding Problem

In this paper, a couple of well-known methods for determination of the number of source signals impinging on sersor array in array processing are introduced and compared in terms of estimation accuracy. The one is the procedure issued by Akaike(Akaike's Information Criterion : AIC) and the other one by Schwartz and Rissanen(Minimum Description Length:MDL). This paper demonstrates, through computer simulation, that the AIC is more reliable than the MDL in such troublesome cases as very closely spaced source signlas, very limited number of sensors in the array, finite data sequences and/or low Signal-to-Noise ratio(S/N).
A Study on the Rectangular Waveguide Phase-Shifter Partially Loaded with a Rectangular Dielectric Slab

Generally, the waveguide phase-shifter has been analyzed by the modal expansion method. We can not apply this method in the case which is difficult to choose a nenerating function. In this paper, we are analyzed the rectangular waveguide phase shifter using the perturbation method. When the depth of dielectric slab is smaller then one half of the waveguide height, the experimental results are well agreed with the calculated values by this method.
A Study on the Automatic Design of Content Addressable Memory

Sine CAM structure is regular structure as that of RAM of PLA, CAM generator program is easy to implement. This program outputs CAM layout in the form of CIF(Caltech Intermediate Format) and graphic display program is debugging or displaying CAM generator output, which are implemented on PC/AT with MS C(5.0) graphic library and C language. CIF parser is programmed with YACC(Yet Another Compiler Compiler) and LEX (Lexical Analyzer) in order to flat the CIF data. For the purposed of plotting the layout output using ROLAND XY plotter is developed. By combining these program described above, from CIF generation to layout plotting can be executed on pull-down menu according to user's option.
우리나라 실정에 알맞는 위성통신 시스템에 관한 연구

Upon introducing satellite communication system to Korea, one of the important problems to cope with is the effect from the probable intentional interference I.e. jamming. In this paper we have investigated how much the performance of ordinary PSK signal and Directed Sequence Spread Spectrum PSK signal degrade by the effect of jamming in the satellite communication system. In analysis we have consider the M ary PSK signal and the liniter type nonlinear satellite transponder in an environment of uplink tone or noise jamming plus Gaussian noise and downlink Gaussian noise. Using the derived error rate equation we have evaluated the error performance of BPSK and QPSK systems and compared this with that of DS BPSK system. Form the results, we know that the nonlinear satellite system is degraded more severely by the effect of noise jamming than tone jamming and the effect of tone jamming on the error rate performance can be reduced more remarkably by increasing the process gain in DS BPSK system rather than increasing carrier to jamming noise power ratio in conventional BPSK system.
