A Study on Koreans ISDN/NSN Numbering Plan
The Journal of Korean Institute of Communications and Information Sciences, volume 16, issue 2, 1991, Pages 115~127
In this paper. we dIscussed wIth the ISDN numberIng system of Korea 2digIt of NDC(National Destination Code)is assigned to the common carrier indenttification and an other the service network identification code as conbining the flIst and second dIgIt. The last ot NDC is applicable to for each area code. Resulty. we become 10 digit number for toll system vice 7 digit for local numbering. It is satisfactory to CCITT recommandtion and also. We has been suggested that existing network the mobile. pagget, FAX, TELEX and public networks are able to be connetcted to the ISDN. Near the 1994. we guess that it is fully occupied with 7 digit number to the metropolitan area to solve this problem, after divide to 3 part provincial area southern. nothem and mid-Korea. We suggested that special number system are reorganized with the new and existing service numbers plan. Although, we don't deal with the SA of ISDN numbering systems. Resultly, know that we are to design efficiently number system as 3 digit code for ISDN/NSN.
A Study on the Control of Recognition Performance and the Rehabilitation of Damaged Neurons in Multi-layer Perceptron
The Journal of Korean Institute of Communications and Information Sciences, volume 16, issue 2, 1991, Pages 128~136
A neural network of multi layer perception type, learned by error back propagation learning rule, is generally used for the verification or clustering of similar type of patterns. When learning is completed, the network has a constant value of output depending on a pattern. This paper shows that the intensity of neuron's out put can be controlled by a function which intensifies the excitatory interconnection coefficients or the inhibitory one between neurons in output layer and those in hidden layer. In this paper the value of factor in the function to control the output is derived from the know values of the neural network after learning is completed And also this paper show that the amount of an increased neuron's output in output layer by arbitary value of the factor is derived. For the applications increased recognition performance of a pattern than has distortion is introduced and the output of partially damaged neurons are first managed and this paper shows that the reduced recognition performance can be recovered.
Differential Demodulation of GMSK in Rayleigh fading Channels
Choi, Joong-Ho ; Han, Young-Yeul ;
The Journal of Korean Institute of Communications and Information Sciences, volume 16, issue 2, 1991, Pages 137~144
A new demodulation scheeme for differentially encoded GMSK signal is introduced and described. In the proposed differential detection method, the signal is sampled at the center of the time slot, at which the effect of the intersymbol interference is relatively smaller than the edge of the time slot. The proposed differential detector takes this adbantate. The error rate performance of the differential detector has been numerically calculated in the fast fading encountered in the land mobile radio channels. A comparison of performance with the differential detector for MSK signal is given. Finally the possibility of improving performance employing nonredudant error correction is studied.
A Study on the Design and Fabrication of Content Addressable Memory
The Journal of Korean Institute of Communications and Information Sciences, volume 16, issue 2, 1991, Pages 145~154
In this dissertation, the same reading and writing operation of general SRAM, the algonthm and hardware of 8 bit
16 word CAM(Content Addressable Memory) which carry out the parallel that search is presented. The designed CAM chip consists of five functional blocks (CAM cell array, Address Deceden, Address Encoden. Data Selector, Sense Amplifier). The smulation is performed using logic smmulator on Apollo workstation and PSPICE eitcut simulation on PC/AT. The designed CAM was fabricated by 3um CMOS N Well process (ETRI) design nitles and testing was performed.
A Study of Matching Algorithm for Fingerprint Recognition
The Journal of Korean Institute of Communications and Information Sciences, volume 16, issue 2, 1991, Pages 155~161
In this paper, Fingerprint matching mathod which is able to confirm one's identify using position and direction data of minutiae (ending point & bifurcation). Using number of response data, quantity of transfer, quantity of position matching. We decided whether fingerprint identity is true of not.
An Image Data Compression Algorithm by Means of Separating Edge Image and Non-Edge Image
The Journal of Korean Institute of Communications and Information Sciences, volume 16, issue 2, 1991, Pages 162~171
This paper presents an algorithm for compressing image data by separating the image into two parts. I.e. edge image containing high-frequency components and non-edge image containing low-frequency components of image. The edge image is extracted by using 8 level compass gradient masks and the non-edge image is obtained by removing the edge image from the original image. The edge image is coded by Huffman run-length code and the non edge image is transformed first by DCT and the transformed images is coded next by a quantized bit allocation table. For an example image. GIRL. the proposed algorithm shows bit rate of 0.52 bpp with PSNR of 36dB.
In DCT,Image Data Compression via Directional Zonal Filters
The Journal of Korean Institute of Communications and Information Sciences, volume 16, issue 2, 1991, Pages 172~179
In this paper we have proposed an efficient coding algorithm using directional filtering. First an image is transformed by using DCT which has better energy compaction and then the transformed image is divided into a low frequency component and several high frequency components. The transformed coefficients of each parts are transmitted respectively by using huffman code and these are transformed inversely at receiver. For the directional components total edge images are reconstructed at zero crossing points. We are able to reduce the amount of data by getting of complex component and making directional angles 90. As a results, this proposed method is better than that of Kunt in respect of processing time and memories. We have 38dB of image quality with objective measurement of PSNR and 0.26bpp of compression ratio which is acceptable.
A Study on Type Classification and Recognition Using Structural Information in Character Pattern of HANGEUL Shape
The Journal of Korean Institute of Communications and Information Sciences, volume 16, issue 2, 1991, Pages 180~195
In this paper, we studied on new method of recognition using structural information to recognize character pattern in orginal shape of Hangeul. First, for the purpose of knowing location of character in input image. it processed Making block. Second, after we investigated. whether vertical vowel exited or not in character image accordingly the center of gravity of Hangeul. each character was classified into Type of Hangeul by searching location and length for horizontal vowel and short pole. Last, we processed it by means of template matching which calculate Uclid's distance on each Jaso in accordance to type classified. This paper made an experiment on 2350 characters and obtained 98.3% classifing rate and 95.2% recognizing rate.
A Study on Isolated Word Recognition using Improved Multisection Vector Quantization Recognition System
The Journal of Korean Institute of Communications and Information Sciences, volume 16, issue 2, 1991, Pages 196~205
This paper is a study on the isolated word recognition of speaker independent which proposes to newly improved MSVQ(multisection vector quantization) recognition system which improve the classical MSVQ recognition system. It is a difference that test pattern has on more section than reference pattern in recognition system 146 DDD area names are selected as recognition vocabulary. 12th LPC cepstral coefficients is used as feature parameter. and when codebook is generated, MINSUM and MINMAX are used in finding the centroid. According to the experiment result. it is proved that this method is better than VQ(vector quantization) recognition methods, DTW(dynamic time warping) pattern matching methods and classical MSVQ methods for recognition rate and recognition time.
