The Design of Information Security Mechanism based on the RPC(Remote Procedure Call) in Distributed Environment

The RPC(Remote Procedure Call) has been widely used as an application development tool in distributed environment. Since it contains only DES Authentication function for information security, the secure data transmission cannot be guaranteed with high probability. In this paper, the information security mechanism based on the RPC is designed to provide authentication, confidentiality, integrity and non-repudiation services by employing the key management the RPC offers, and then safety of the mechanism presented is verified.
The Design of Authentication Mechanism Employing the Block Design for Information Security in CORBA Enironment

In this paper, we present conference key authentication mechanism by employing the block designs in CORBA environment, which is an industry consensus standard for distributed computing. To accomplish this, (v,k, λ)-configuration method, one class of block designs, is applied for generating the communication key and then this key is distributed to participants. Through this technique for creating a conference key and mutual authentications performed based on identification information, the communication protocol is designed. The protocol presented minimizes the transmission complexity for generating a conference key. Especially, in case of λ=1, the complexity is O( v√v). The security of the mechanism, which is a significant problem in the construction of secure system, can be proved as proved as computationally difficult to calculate as factoring and discrete logarithms.
A Study on the Transmission Characteristics and Loop Capacity of UTP(Unshield Twisted Pair Line) for HDSL(High speed Digital Subscriber Line) Service in Korea

Economical realization of terminated equipments and cost-effective network has been considered as one of the most crucial issues in the area of xDSL(Digital Subscriber Line). In the case that the NEXT (Near end cross talk), which is a major impairment for UTP(Unshielded Twisted wire Pair) cable unit, is in a large tolerance in loop, a long reach can be made. The transceiver designed on low complexity makes possible a realization of low-cost and large-scale interface technology. In this paper we first choose a loop model, among some typical UTP loop models, for the HDSL service which is highly expected to be provide to the public in Korea in the near future. We then analyze its transmission characteristics and channel capacity. Eventually, the optimum loop condition for HDSL service scenarios to the UTP cable unit.
Optical Packet Networks for the Backbone Network of ATM Switching

The B-ISDN(Broadband-Integrated Service Digital Network) transports various multimedia information effectively. So optical switching networks which consist of optical transmission links and photonic switching systems are noticeable as a way of a large capacity communication. In this paper, we propose optical packet switching networks which will be used as the backbone network of national high speed communication networks which are operated a way of ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode). The B-ISDN transport networks are composed of two-layered networks such as regional network is an average ATM transport network. The optical backbone network gathers fixed length of several ATM cells which come from regional networks, attaches an capital header, and completes an optical packet. And then the network switches and transports with high speed. That is, the backbone network is a transparent optical packet network.
The Failure Restoration Algorithms for ATM-based Telecommunication Network Management

With the rapid introduction of high speed, broadband, and intelligent telecommunication networks, the developing and provisioning of high quality services based on the network reliability and survivability is emerging as a core competitive power in telecommunication business. This study provides a methodology well-suited for acquiring a desirable service quality in case of network failure in a very high speed network based on ATM technologies. We propose DVRA (Dynamic Virtual Path Restoration Algorithm) and DSDVRA (Double Search Dynamic Virtual Path Restoration Algorithm) using unidirectional and bi-directional search which center on a failure restoration message flooding algorithm, and compare our results with the existing research works through a further analysis.
A Markov Modulated Characterization of the Departure Process of a D-BMAP/Geo/1/K Queue in ATM Networks Analysis

We first obtain the departure process of a D-BMAP/Geo/1/K queue. The departure process of this queue is characterized by a k-state MMBP in order to capture both the burstiness and correlation of the departure process. The tractable fitting model for characterizing the departure process of the queue by a k-state MMBP is proposed and its accuracy was examined through extensive validation tests. The fitting model is then used in a simple decomposition algorithm to analyze a tandem configuration of discrete-time finite capacity queues with cell loss.
A Study on ABR traffic rate control using a Look Ahead Enquiry/Response in an ATM network

In this paper we propose an new ABR(Available Bit Rate) traffic rate control mechanism using the Look Ahead Enquiry/Response which check the available rate and service compatibility before call procedure.We create and design the Bandwidth Request and Bandwidth Allocated Message for the ABR traffic control using a signaling channel. Thereby make a new message flow message flow diagram for ABR traffic parameter negotiation, and its performance is analyzed.
A study on Integration of Heterogeneous Network Information Systems into Web by Java CGI

Heterogeneous Network Information Systems(HNIS) are independently developed. Some design methods which efficiently integrate the HNISs into Web environments are studied. Those studies which are based on convenient user interfaces, lower cost, expansibility, and lots of users have broaden the range of using Web. However, because of rapid increase of various user requirements and data, the loads of Web Server Systems become gradually higher than before. This situations need technologies which reduce the loads of Web Server Systems. We derive Java CGI to integrate NHISs into Web environments. We propose a performance evaluation model for simulations to compare the performance of traditional CGI model with that of Java CGI model under various loads. Java CGI is a solution of the performance problems in overloaded CGL. Because Java CGI can efficiently distribute the loads of sever to client.
Design and Implementation of Web-based Visualization System for LAN Management

In this paper, we have defined the analysis parameters for LAN management by using RMON MIB. To analyze these parameters, we have implemented Web-based visualization system by Java. This system has been implemented as a client-server model so that it can provide three management functions: the real time monitoring of LAN segment, the collection of LAN traffic Information, the analysis of collected traffic information. Visualization client is composed of 5 modules. Graph module shows manager analysis results. Report generation module provides the reports of analysis results. Real-time monitoring module, collection request module, and analysis request module read the request from manager, and send request message to visualization server. Server consists of real-time monitoring processor, collecting processor, collecting processor, analysis processor and DB handler. MATP is used to communicate between client and server. We have proved the adaptability of Visualization System by analyzing single LAN segment, 18.104.22.168 network in Sung Kyun Kwan Univ. This system can support the effective LAN management, redesigning of LAN, and fault diagnosis through Web browser.
A Cell Scheduling and Dropping Algorithm for VTOA

For VTOA(Voice and Technology over ATM) which provides POTS(Plain Old Telephone Service) in ATM network, algorithms must not only satisfy the real time property, but also minimize the processing overhead. Previous scheduling algorithms such as WRR(Weighted Round Robin) and DRR(Deficit Round Robin) have some problems in heavy traffic load which cannot guarantee the CTD(Cell Transfer Delay) requirement in spite of maintaining a good fairness. To solve these problems, this paper presents the DBWRR(Delay Bound Weighted Round Robin) algorithm which can reduce implementation overhead as well as the cell loss rate resulted from violating the CTD requirement. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm performs better than the WRR and DRR in terms of both average cell loss rate, decreasing as much as 20% and average queueing delay, decreasing as much as 0.3ms. Moreover, it is shown that our scheme has good fairness compared with other scheduling algorithms.
A Study on the fundamental Experiment of Wireless Power Transmission for 2.45㎓ Microwave to DC Conversion

For a basic experiment on Wireless Power Transmission(WPT) of 2.45㎓ frequency band, we had developed and tested a retenna cell based on microstrip antennas to get a high microwave to DC conversion efficiency. Square type microstrip array retenna with 20×20 was constructed using the developed rectenna for basic experiment. We examined dependence of the rectenna array characteristics on the parallel and series electrical connection of the sub-arrays which is composed to have better Microwave-DC conversion to have better Microwave-DC conversion efficiency in the central area of the rectenna array. A 75.6% conversion efficiency from unit rectenna cell with 400Ω load and a 33% wireless power transmission efficiency from transmitted antenna to load with 20×20 rectenna array system was achieved.
Design of WDM Optical Transport Networks with Share Limited Wavelength Converter

This paper introduces two efficient methods for the design of multiwavelength optical networks. First, we suggest a wavelength converter location method if they are located at some nodes. Second, we suggest a decision method about how many optical fibers must be required at each link to satisfy all connection demands. The second method is also for the network with wavelength converters at some nodes. These two methods are based on a new optical path scheme in the network of arbitrary topology. In the new optical path scheme, called partial wavelength path(PWP) scheme, limited channel converters are located at not all but some nodes. Limited channel converter allows limited number of optical paths to share wavelength conversion. Static routing and wavelength assignment is assumed.
The large Capacity Optical Cell Compressor and Decompressor using Optical Feedback Algorithm

In this paper, we proposed a new type of the Optical Cell Compressor and Decompressor, which are essential module in TDM and TDM/WDM Hybrid Optical ATM Switch structure. This proposed structure drastically lessen hardwares for realization, using applied optical feedback algorithm when it compressed and decompressed. Also, it is able to compress and decompress the large capacity optical pulse stream under the situation of multi-stage connection. We specified the application through 4-bit compressing experiment with the single module for the proposed optical cell compressor.
A New Construction of Multi-Wavelength Optical Orthogonal

Multi-wavelength optical orthogonal codes (MWOOC’s) for optical code-division multiple-access (CDMA) are investigated. An MWOOC is a family of two-dimensional sequences consisting of (0,1) non-negative pulses wavelengths with ˘thumbtack˝ shaped autocorrelation and low cross-correlation properties. This kind of two-dimensional codes has larger cardinality than the one-dimensional codes used in the hybrid WDMA-CDMA scheme under the same correlation constraints. The use of MWOOC’s enables a large number of asynchronous users to transmit information efficiently and reliably. In this Paper, we present a new construction method for (mn,λ+2,λ) MWOOC’s with available wavelengths m, codeword length n, and constant Hamming weight λ+2 that have autocorrelation and cross-correlation values not exceeding λ. In this proposed scheme, there is no dependency between available wavelengths and codeword length, and it is also possible to be larger than as well as equal to 1. Specially, we show that the constructed code is optimal for λ=1. We also analyze its interference probability comparing with the hybrid WDMA+CDMA scheme.
A New Multiwavelength Switching System Employing SCM Packet Coding Scheme and Its Performance Analysis

It is presented in this paper a multiwavelength switching system employing a new subcarrier multiplexed (SCM) packet coding technique. In the proposed coding scheme, the address of an output node as the packet header is represented by the pre-assigned RF frequencies which are frequency-multiplexed with packet data over the whole packet duration. System control is accomplished by detecting the presence of the carrier frequencies, therefore the header processing time can be highly reduced and the related electronic hardware can be minimized resulting to a fast photonic switching system. BER (bit error rate) performance is analyzed in terms of incoherent crosstalk and homowavelength crosstalk generated at demultiplexer and SOA respectively.
Analysis of Conductor Backed Coplanar Waveguide Coupled Lines Using the Conformal Mapping Method

In this paper, electromagnetic characteristics of the conductor backed coplanar waveguide coupled line, such as electromagnetic field patterns, effective dielectric constants, characteristic impedances, were analyzed using the conformal mapping method which has been one of the quasi-static electromagnetic analysis method and be known to more fast and simple approach than the full-wave analysis method. The results of this paper can be applied to the design of microwave passive circuits using coupled line, such as coupler, filter, and the more useful design parameters can be easily obtained by conformal mapping method in this paper.
The design and fabrication of low noise MMIC amplifier for LMDS

In this paper, 3-stage low noise amplifier(LNA) in Ka-band is designed using pHEMT foundry service of GEC-Marconi. Series inductive feedback is employed to improve stability. In order to get the gain above 15 dB and the gain ripple under 1 dB over the wide bandwidth, resistors at drain were used as feedback elements. Using reactive matching technique, impedance is matched. The fabricated LNA shows the gain over 19 dB, the noise figure under 4 dB, the return loss blow -10 dB and the gain less than 1 dB
Q-factors of a Ring Dielectric Resonator in an MIC environment

For a ring dielectric resonator(DR) in a microwave integrated circuit(MIC) environment, the conductor Q-factor, dielectric Q-factor, and unloaded Q-factor of the mode are derived from the field analysis of the dielectric waveguide model(DWM) method. To calculate the Q-factors, a dielectric constant and a dielectric loss of a ring DR have been obtained from the resonant frequency and bandwidth in parallel plates with a ring DR for a mod. The calculated values of an unloaded Q have shown good agreements with the experimental ones within about 5% error.
Extraction of a Nonlinear Model of Packaged GaAs FET and Its Application to Frequency Quadruplier Design

This paper proposes an extraction method for a nonlinear model of the packaged GaAs FET based on the given nonlinear model of a chi GaAs FET, which is a preferably used in many microwave circuit implementation The proposed extraction method for a nonlinear model includes an optimization process to obtain numerically the parameters of the packaged GaAs FET nonlinear model, which is very advantageous in that the nonlinear model parameters of the packaged GaAs FET can be easily found without using any special nonlinear parameter measurement equipments. Its is proved in the experiments that the 2.5GHz/10GHz frequency quadruplier implemented based on the packaged GaAs FET nonlinear model provides the performances of 3.67 dB frequency conversion gain and 60 dBc harmonic rejection compared with the on designed based on the linear circuit design
Study on the CFAR Detectors under Weibull Clutter Environments

In radar systems clutter is defined as unwanted reflected signals from the bodies other than target and causes false alarm. For this reason the CFAR detector is used in radar systems to keep a constant false alarm rate under time-varying and space-varying clutter environments, which is insensitive to the statistical changes of clutter. In this paper the Modified CA CFAR detector is proposed for Weibull distributed clutter inputs to perform CAFR detection. The proposed CFAR detector provides an optimum performance against unknown parameters of Weibull distribution as the adaptive CFAR detector. Also, it can minimize the real-time computation by utilizing it in the look-up table implementation structure. Finally, its performance tested under the homogeneous environment through computer simulation.
Interlanced-to-Progressive Scan Conversion using Adaptive Pseudomedian Filter

Although the conventional NTSC TV standard is highly sophisticated, it has some immanent problems One of these problems of the actual TV system is interlaced scanning, which yields a poor result in terms of the vertical special resolution. It is an object of the present paper to provide the algorithm for adaptive intra-field interpolation capable of effectively improving the performance through enhancement of the reconstruction of the edge information with high frequency according to addition the adaptability based on bias-weighting into the orientation of edge information with fixed-size window mask for de-interlace scan conversion to the method for interlaced-to-progressive scan conversion using pseudomedian filter, pre-proposed through preceding study, which itself provides excellent performance. The proposed method is implemented without field memory and its performance is superior to the performances of the conventional intra-field methods. Computer simulation has been introduced to compare the performances of the conventional methods and the proposed method.
Matrix and Vector Features for Discriminating Color and Texture

In this paper, we extend the matrix features defined for the analysis of textured gray images into color images, and propose several vector features induced from the matrix features that can capture textures and color at the same time. The proposed vector features can be used for the content-based image retrievals efficiently without combining process to make a vector from separate texture and color features. We also show the mutual relationships of the matrix and vector features in the color images. In the experiment, the proposed vector features show excellent discrimination power so that these may be well adapted for the content-based image retrievals.
Design of Quincunx Wavelet Filte Banks Minimizing Aliasing Energy

In this paper, novel two-dimensional nonseparable filter banks using the quincunx sampling lattice are designed and implemented for 2D wavelet transform. 2D nonseparable wavelet transform possesses more freedom in design, can provide better frequency characteristics and may have directional properties which are not limited to the vertical and horizontal directions of separable filters. For the nonseparable sampling, the quincunx lattice that has the diamond-shaped region in the frequency domain is used. The proposed nonseparable filter banks based on the quincunx sampling lattice minimize the aliasing energy which causes annoying patterns in encoded images at low bit-rates as well as satisfy the condition of perfect reconstruction.
Implementation of Parallel Adaptive Stack Filter Algorithm using PVM

Stack filter was widely used because it showed good performance for signal restoration and noise reduction especially for impulsive noises. Due to the inherent serial nature of the training algorithm, however, it requires too much resource. Parallel adaptive stack filter algorithm which can be implemented in parallel was developed to overcome this problem. In this paper, a new implementation of adaptive stack filter training algorithm was developed using PVM, which is a new heterogeneous parallel computing environment using serial network available computers. In order to maximize the merit of heterogeneous distributed computing environment and minimize data transfer, lad of each host was balanced in early time of process. Because low-bandwidth high-latency network was used, distributed shared memory models were proposed and implemented to minimize the network communication. It shows a better execution time than previous one-host implementation when the data and window sizes are large.
A Real-Time Inspection System for Electrolytic Capacitors using Queue Data Structures

This paper proposes a system to visually inspect in real-time the malfunction of electrolytic capacitor during tapping This system processes an input image of a tapped electrolytic capacitor and inspects the dimension, pattern and position of the electrolytic capacitor in order to locate the malfunctioning capacitor. Using Queue data structures, the tapping machine is stopped when a defective capacitor comes into a position where the operator can easily remove the flawed capacitor. The system displays the image of the capacitor, as well as items of information concerning the malfunction, storing them in Queue. When defective capacitors are found in any frequency, the visual system is still able to accurately inspect each one. After field testing, this visual inspection system for detecting defective capacitors experienced some problems with noise due to mismatches between functioning and malfunctioning capacitors. With the solving of the noise problem, this problem, this system will be a viable and effective real-time inspection system for electrolytic capacitors.
Design of Low-Power, High Speed Current-Mode Pipelined CMOS ADC Using a New S/H

In this paper, it is proposed to a new architecture of current-mode pipelined CMOS ADC(Analog-to-Digital Converter) of which consists a current-mode S/H and a 1.5-bit bit cell. In order to guarantee the entire resolution of ADC, the new current-mode S/H using the structure of differential current memory to remove clock feedthrough is designed, which is placed in the front-end of each bit cell. In the proposed ADC, its digital correction logic is simplified and power consumption is reduced because bit cell of each stage needs two latch comparator. Also, it is available for a mixed-mode integrated circuit because all of block is designed with only MOS transistor. With the HYUNDAI 0.8 μ m CMOS parameter, the HSPICE simulation results show that the proposed ADC can be operated at 20Ms/s with SNR of 43 dB with which is satisfies 7-bit resolution for input signal at 100 kHz and its power consumption is 27mW
