Analysis of Kronecker Sequence with Partial-Period Correlation in a Multiple-dwell Serical Serarch System

This paper shows that the Kronecker sequence, the rapid acquisition spreading code, can be used in packet wireless data communication systems. The general properties of the Kronecker sequence such as construction and correlation characteristics are described, and it is shown that the Kronecker sequence can use a partial-period correlation for a faster acquisition. Based on above Properties, it can be expected that the Kronecker sequence can be used in packet communication systems because the probability of false alarm for the Kronecker sequence is lower and flatter(that is, less sensitive to Ec/No variations) than that for the PN sequence under the assumption that both sequences have the same acquisition time.
Analysis of Jamming Interference Characteristics in Nonlinear DRT Satellite Transponder System

For the DRT satellite transponder system, BER and total SNR to be required in the earth terminal are evaluated under the condition of HPA nonlinearity in the FBJ(full-band jamming) or PBJ(partial-band jamming) of uplink and downlink. In case that the satellite Inter bandwidth( Ws) is same to the earth terminal bandwidth(
),in conditions of uplink JSR 10[dB], downlink JSR 10[dB] and processing gain 30[dB], linear transponder system shows that uplink SNR needs to be 14.2[dB] to achieve the total SNR 10[dB] requirement in downlink SNR 14[dB]. However, Nonlinear transponder system with OBO(output backoff) 2[dB] requires 20.1 [dB] uplink SNR. From the above results, the nonlinearity of HPA in the satellite transponder causes the degradation of BER performance so that it is of interest to consider the power increase.
Performance Comparison of Trellis Coded Multi-Carrier CDMA SYstem with Transmite/Rceive Antenna Diversity in Indoor Radio Channel

In this paper, we proposed a trellis coded Multi-Carrier CDMA 16 QAM system with multiple transmit/receive antenna diversity technique, which is simple and suitable for indoor wireless communications. The proposed multiple transmit/receive antenna diversity technique is that the transmitter sends a trellis coded Multi-Carrier CDMA 16 QAM signal from multiple transmitting antennas with intentional time delays, which makes a receiver possible to distinguish and combine the signals from different antennas. In wireless indoor communication system, if we allow the increase of the complexity of the system, it is also possible to achieve additional diversity gain in the performance with the combination of the proposed technique and the conventional receiving antenna diversity. Furthermore, we have found that the proposed trellis coded Multi-Carrier CDMA 16 QAM system, which employs multiple transmit/receive antenna, is less sensitive to the multiple user interference and fading than conventional receiving antenna diversity systems.
Performance Analysis of MCR-DS/CDMA Systems Using a Simplified Expression for the Improved Gaussian Approximation

In this paper, we investigate the performance of asynchronous multiple-chip-rate (MCR)-DS/CDMA systems, where singles are transmitted at different chip rates, processing gains, and transmitted powers according to the required services and their own bit rates. A simplified expression for the improved Gaussian approximation (SEIGA), which is hewn for as a very accurate and simple tool for the performance evaluation, is applied to MCR systems, The correlations between chip waveforms and integrations are utilized instead of correlations between chip sequences which are used in conventional method  , and since this approach makes use of the system model parameter directly, we obtain more direct relationship among system parameters. Simulation results show that the performance of MCR-DS/CDMA systems can be evaluated more accurately by using the proposed procedure than by using the GA.
Interference Canceller Wideband CDMA Systems for IMT-2000

IMT-2000 system is the third generation mobile communication system which aims at mobile multimedia services with global roaming. Like 2nd generation system, the IMT-2000 system is also under strong influence of interferences among active subscribers in the multiple access environment. That is, in multiple access environment, signals from one subscriber could interfere with others in the same cell or in the neighboring cells. The interference control in the IMT-2000 systems is much more difficult then the interference control in the 2ndgeneration CDMA cellular systems, since the transmitted power of a subcriber might be different that of others in the IMT-2000 system. In this paper, a parallel interference cancellation with traffic discrimination is proposed which can effectively cancel interferences by grouping the subscribers into several equi-power classes. As a conclusion, simulation results show that the proposed method outperforms the conventional partial PIC scheme in several aspects.
Improved Channel Estimation Scheme for Fast Fading in Reverse Link of W-CDMA systems

Pilot symbol-based coherent detection is used to increase the link capacity in CDMA systems. In order to detect data efficiently, data signals must be compensated with channel estimation values obtained by using pilot symbols. Many channel estimation schemes were published in previous literatures. However, most of these schemes have performance deterioration in fast fading because of using average vaules of several timeslots. In this paper, we propose an improved channel estimation scheme which is efficient in fast fading and also operates in slow fading satisfactorily. Through computer simulation we show that the proposed scheme has better performance than other schemes in terms of both MSE and BER in fast fading and show robustness for variation in Doppler frequencies.
Region-based Image Retrieval using Wavelet Transform and Image Segmentation

In this paper, we discussed the region-based image retrieval method using image segmentation. We proposed a segmentation method which can reduce the effect of a irregular light sources. The image segmentation method uses a region-merging, and candidate regions which are merged were selected by the energy values of high frequency bands in discrete wavelet transform. The content-based image retrieval is executed by using the segmented region information, and the images are retrieved by a color, texture, shape feature vector. The similarity measure between regions is processed by the Euclidean distance of the feature vectors. The simulation results shows that the proposed method is reasonable.
Image Enhancement Techniques Based on Wavelets

In this paper, we propose a technique for image enhancement, especially for denoising and deblocking based on wavelets. In this proposed algorithm, frame wavelet system designed as a optimal edge detector was used. And our theory depends on Lipschitz regularity, spatial correlation, and some important assumptions. The performance of the proposed algorithm was compared with three popular test images in image processing area. Experimental results show that the performance of the proposed algorithm was better than other previous denoising techniques like spatial averaging filter, Gaussian filter, median filter, Wiener filter, and some other wavelet based filters in the aspect of both PSNR and human visual system, The experimental results also show approximately the same capability of deblocking as the previous developed techniques
Efficient Color Feature Information Extraction Method for Color Histogram-based Image Retrieval

Color distribution is changed according to the variation of illumination position and illumination color. Therefore, even if images are relevant each other, retrieval accuracy is degraded. In this paper, we propose the image retrieval method using color information excluded illumination component. The proposed dynamic range control method removes the shadow region generated by change of illumination position to increase the color discrimination power. To exclude the illuminant color, we use the diffuse reflection component of object and gray world assumption. The experimental results show that the color histogram method using color information excluded illuminant has higher retrieval accuracy than conventional color histogram using the color information of input image.
Content-based Rate control for Hybrid Video Transmission

A bit-rate controller that can achieve a constant bit rate when coding object-based video sequences is an important part to achieve an adaptation to bit-rate constraints, desired video quality, distribution of bits among objects, relationship between texture and shape coding, and determination of frame skip or not. Therefore we design content-based bit rate controller which will be used for relevant bit-rate control. The implementation is an extension of MPEG-4 rate control algorithm which employs a quadratic rate-quantizer model. The importance of different objects in a video is analyzed and segmented into a number of VOPs which are adaptively bit-allocated using the object-based modelling. Some test sequences are observed by a number of non-experts and interests in each object are analysed. The initial total target bit-rate for all objects is obtained by using the proposed technique. Then the total target bits are jointly analyzed for preventing from overflow or underflow of the buffer fullness. The target bits are distributed to each object in view of its importance, not only of statistical analysis such as motion vector magnitude, size of object shape, and coding distortion of previous frame. The scheme is compared with the rate controller adopted by the MPEG-4 VM8 video coder by representing their statistics and performance.
Joint Carrier and Symbol Timing Recovery Using Repetitive Preamble

In this paper, we propose the joint carrier and symbol timing recovery algorithm using repetitive preamble and differential detection for burst modem. The proposed algorithm can estimate the frequency offset and the symbol timing error regardless of the amount of frequency offset, with a high accuracy, even using very short preamble and at low SNR values. The algorithms for continuous phase frequency shift keying (CPFSK) and phase shift keying (PSK) types are developed. Through computer simulations, we compare the proposed algorithm with the existing algorithms on the estimation accuracy in terms of the preamble length, and analyze those bit error rate(BER) performance.
New Channel Equalizers for Mixed Phase Channel

In general, the communication channel can be modeled as inter-symbol interference(ISI) and additive white gaussian noise channel. Viterbi algorithm is optimum detector for transmitted data at transmitter, but it needs large computational complexity. For the sake of this problem, adaptive equalizers are employed for channel equalization which is not attractive for mixed phase channel. In this paper, we propose the effective new channel equalizer for mixed phase channel and show the better performance than previous equalizers.
Multi-level MCMA Blind Equalization Technique using M-ary QAM signal

In this paper, the method which compensates the problem occurred in case M-ary QAM is applied to system is proposed. The conventional CMA has two problems, First, when M is larger than 4, it has a poor performance of equalizer due to a degradation of convergence property. Second, the phase of conventional CMA is distorted after convergence. To compensate these problems, we set the proper interval according to modulated signal when the signal using 16-QAM modulation method is equalized and use a different equalizing method for each interval. Using this method, the ISI is reduced and the performance of equalizing is improved. Also, the computer simulation using residual ISI shows an improved performance.
Real-Time Implementation of MPEG-1 Layer III Audio Decoder Using TMS320C6201

The goal of this research is the real-time implementation of MPEG-1 Layer III audio decoder using the fixed-point digital signal processor of TMS320C6201 The main job for this work is twofold: one is to convert floating-point operation in the decoder into fixed-point operation while maintaining the high resolution, and the other is to optimize the program to make it run in real-time with memory size as small as possible. We, especially, devote much time to the descaling module in the decoder for conversion of floating-point operation into fixed-point operation with high accuracy. The inverse modified cosine transform(IMDCT) and synthesis polyphase filter bank modules are optimized in order to reduce the amount of computation and memory size. After the optimization process, in this paper, the implemented decoder uses about 26% of maximum computation capacity of TMS320C6201. The program memory, data ROM, data RAM used in the decoder are about 6.77kwords, 3.13 kwords and 9.94 kwords, respectively. Comparing the PCM output of fixed-point computation with that of floating-point computation, we achieve the signal-to-noise ratio of more than 60 dB. A real-time operation is demonstrated on the PC using the sound I/O and host communication functions in the EVM board.
The Vertical Field Analysis within the Strong Inversion of MOS FET using the Multi-box Segmentation Technique

We have to consider the drain current as consisting of two components the vertical electric field and the longitudinal electric field because the drain current is almost totally due to the presence of drift in strong inversion of n-MOS FET. Especially the mobility of electrons in the inversion layer is smaller than the bulk mobility because the vertical electric field component that is generated by the effect of the gate voltage is perpendicular to the direction of normal current flow. By the multi-box segmentation technical method that are proposed in this paper we calculated the inversion layer depth and analyzed the vertical electric field component which has an large influence on mobility model.
An Efficient Kernel-based Partitioning Algorithm for Low-power Low-Power Low-area Logic Circuit Design

This paper proposes an efficient kernel-based partitioning algorithm for reducing area and power dissipation in combinational circuit design.. The proposed algorithm decreases the power consumption by partitioning a given circuit utilizing a kernel, and reduces the area overhead by minimizing duplicated gates in the partitioned subcircuits. Experimental results for the MCNC benchmarks show that the proposed algorithm is effective by generating circuits consuming 43.6% less power with 30.7% less area on the average, when compared to the previous algorithm based on precomputation circuit structure.
A heuristic algorithm for wavelength assignment in bidirectional WDM ring

WDM SHR has advantages compared to SDH SHR in both cost and capacity But, wavelengths should be carefully assigned not to clash with each other and the number should be minimum. In this study, a heuristic algorithm, which is efficient in practical situations where the traffic pattern is not full-mesh or more than one wavelength is required for connecting some specific nodes, is suggested. The performance of the suggested algorithm is compared with that of the convential algorithm.
A Semi-MMIC Hair-pin Resonator Oscillator for K-Band Application

In this paper, we introduce a modified interference cancellation scheme to overcome MAI in DS-CDMA. Among ICs(Interference Cancellers), PIC(Parallel IC) requires the more complexity, and SIC(Successive IC) faces the problems of the long delay time. Most of all, the adaptive detector achieves the good BER performance using the adaptive filter conducted iteration algorithm. so it requires many iterations. To resolve the problems of them, we propose an improved adaptive detector that the received signal removed MAI through the sorting scheme and the cancellation method are fed into the adaptive filter. Because the improved input signal is fed into the adaptive filter, it has the same BER performance only using smaller iterations than the conventional adaptive detector, and the proposed detector having adaptive filter requires less complexity than the other detectors.
An efficient Channel Estimation Technique for Space-Time Coded OFDM Systems

In this paper, we propose an efficient channel estimation technique for space-time coded orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) systems with transmitter and receiver diversity. The proposed technique estimates uniquely all channel frequency responses needed in a decoder of space-time coded OFDM systems using "comb-type" raining symbols. The computational complexity of the proposed technique is reduced dramatically, compared with the previous minimum mean-squared error (MMSE) technique, due to the processing is made all in the frequency-domain. Also, several other techniques for mitigating random noise effect and tracking channel variation are discussed to further improve the performance of the proposed approach. The performances of the proposed approach are demonstrated by computer simulation for mobile wireless channels. channels.
