A Fault Management Architecture Using Backup FA in Hierarchical Local Registration Mobile IP

The Mobile IP protocol allows IP hosts to move between different networks without changing their IP addresses. The Mobile IP systems supporting the local registration were introduced to reduce the number of times when a home registration with the remotely located Home Agent is needed. The local registration Mobile IP protocol enhanced the performance by processing the MN\`s registration requests at a local agent. However. the local registration approach may consider other aspects of the Mobile IP systems as the FA fault tolerance. In this paper, we will briefly review previous protocols to support the FA fault tolerance in hierarchical local registration Mobile If system and will propose a fault tolerance protocol with backup FA in hierarchical local registration mobile IP t() enhance the efficiency of such systems against Foreign Agent failures.
Performance Evaluation of a Differentiated Service Mechanism by Traffic Models and Weight Factor

It is difficult to satisfy the QoS(Quality of Service) guarantee which is required by real-time application services only with the Best-Effort(BE) service adopted in the current Internet. Therefore, worldwide research is being made on the method of QoS provisioning. Among them, the QoS guarantee mechanism using the Diffserv(Differentiated Service) was discussed in this paper. First we analyzed how the DiffServ performance was affected by traffic models. For this, we performed the research for the random, bursts, and self-similar traffic modeling method. We then designed and implemented an OPNET simulator, and performed the simulation 7d performance evaluation for diverse input parameters. Based on the results of performance evaluation, it was confirmed that QoS guarantee is possible for the EF(Expedited Forwarding) class with the DiffServ function under every environments considered and the service separation between EF and BE(Best Effort) classes is also possible. We also analyzed the performance variation and dynamic behavior of DiffServ mechanism based on the resource allocation between E? and BE classes in WFQ(Weighted Fair Queueing).
Non-repudiation Protocol for Efficiency and Fairness in TTP Security Service Level

Recently, in the case that provides electronic services using Internet, we need the non-repudiation service that supplies a technological evidence about actions between a sender and a receiver that violate the promised protocol. Also, this service offers legal evidences while producing controversy. In this paper, we propose a protocol that improves the efficiency and offers the fairness of non-repudiation service by the extension of ability of TTP (Trusted Third Party). The proposed protocol adds a Time Check function and an Alert Message to extend the ability of TTP. Through the computer simulation, we prove that the proposed protocol has better efficiency than previous protocols.
Performance Analysis and Design of Multiservice Network for Constant- and Adaptive-rate Services

We consider a model describing large scale performance of multiservice networks supporting both constant- and adaptive-rate services. As the number of constant-rate connection changes over time in multiservice networks, the available bandwidth for adaptive-rate connections changes as well. We estimate the available bandwidth for adaptive-rate service in a dynamically changing traffic environment based on Erlang fixed point equation and Little\`s law. The bandwidth allocation for adaptive-rate service is determined by the max-min fairness criterion. We find an upper bound on the average minimum throughput for adaptive-rate service, and 7how that the bound is achieved in large-capacity networks. This is verified using network examples. Since max-min fair allocation may not maximize the total throughput or revenue in a network, we consider adjustments via network level priority schemes to increase efficiency.
Multiple LC-tries for Fast IP Address Lookup

The IP routing uses the longest-matching prefix to determine the destination. Fast lookup should be required for the high speed routing. We propose a modified LC-trie, called multiple LC-trie, which is suitable data structure for fast address-lookups in software implementation. To reduce the number of memory accesses, our scheme analyzes the distribution of IP address access pattern, and constructs multiple LC:-tries for frequently accessed IP addresses. Our experimental results show that our scheme can perform faster than the original LC-trie schemes.
CORBA-based Distributed Multimedia Communication Systems for Controlling and Managing Multimedia Streams

According to the popular use of the multimedia services in distributed environments, the need for the variable multimedia communication technologies have been presented today. In order to support the efficient transmission multimedia streams, the multicasting, and the interoperability between multimedia applications in distributed environments, the development of the open exclusive multimedia communication systems and the provision of the control and management methodologies for media streams have been required. In order support the realtime transmission of multimedia stream in distributed environments. the protocols such as RTP, RSVP, and RTSP have been standardized. For supporting the interoperability between multimedia applications and the control and management of streams, the distributed processing platforms such as CORBA by OMG and DSM-CC by DAVIC were published. In this paper, we introduce the CORBA-based distributed multimedia communication system which support the realtime transmission, control, and management of multimedia streams and provide the interoperability between multimedia applications. Finally, we present the QoS measurement results by the interoperability between our systems and VoD systems.
Performance Analysis of the WDM Protocol for the Multicast Traffics

In this paper, a dynamic minislot reservation protocol(DMRP) is proposed and analyzed to improve the performance of the multicast traffic processing in wavelength division multiplexing(WDM) networks. For the proposed protocol analysis, the WDM network architecture with a passive star coupler is used. One pair of transceiver is used for a control channel and the ocher pair of transceiver with one fixed transmitter and one tunable receiver are used for data transmission. In this protocol. the packets which fail to have successful transmission in the present time slot due to data channel and destination collisions, have priority to have successful reservation in the contention-less minislots of the next time slot. Therefore, protocols have improved the throughput and the system delay performance caused by the reduced probabilities of control channel contentions and destination collisions probability. Today, the efficient protocol that can handle the various types of data traffic is needed. As results, the DMRP is useful to improve the performance of throughput and system delay characteristics regardless of the kinds of traffic
On-Line Fault Diagnosis System using Neural Network

In this paper, we propose an on-line FDD(Fault Detection and Diagnosis) system based on the three layer feed-forward neural network which is trained by the back-propagation teaming algorithm. We implement the on-line fault detection and diagnosis system by Visual C++ and Visual Basic. The proposed FDD system is applied to an air handling unit in operation. Experimental results show the high performance of our system in the task of fault detection and diagnosis.
A Path Restoration Method Independent of Failure Location in All-Optical Networks

In this paper, a path restoration method independent of failure location in all-optical networks is proposed and its wavelength requirements are calculated. In the proposed method, since a single backup wavelength is used for any link failure, a node can consist of only fixed wavelength transmitters, resulting in the levels node cost. Hence, restoration process can be triggered just after the failure detection, if combined with edge-disjoint path restoration method. This feature and the parallel cross-connection message transfer technique proposed in this paper make the restoration process faster. Also, it is shown the wavelength requirements in the proposed method are similar to the ones in the method using tunable backup wavelength, resulting in little increment for transmission cost.
Cell Scheduling Scheme for Multimedia Service in ATM Network

In this paper, we propose WRR cell scheduling algorithm that improve current smoothing scheme. In proposed cell scheduling algorithm, using the number of practical input cell in each VC and variable thats indicate weight and state of queue, we could service VC of buffer efficiently that input cells over weight value and input cells smaller than weight value. And, we could service multimedia data by providing remained bandwidth after that allocate to real time traffic with non-real time traffic. In this result, the number of serviceable average cells were increased and length of buffer was decreased. Through the computer simulation, we evaluated the performance of proposed algorithm. According to the results, the proposed algorithm showed good performance.
Secure VPN Performance in IP Layers

This paper analyzes Security Performance and Processing Performance to measure performance between nodes by using AH and ESP protocol. IPsec VPN provides application with security service implemented in IP Layer while traffic cost and packet processing time it increased by encryption, decryption and authentication in AH and ESP. We measured overall packet processing time and IPsec module processing time. The result of the efficiency test showed that the factors of influencing electrical transmission efficiency were the size of electrical transmission packets, codes used for tunnelling, authentication functions, CPU velocity of host7, and the embodiment of IPsec; for a high capacity traffic, IPsec transmission was not appropriate, because transmission velocity was delayed by more than ten times in comparison with Non-IPsec.
Satellite On-board ATM Switch Based on Knockout Switch

Several guidelines can be developed for a satellite-based ATM switch. One of the most important of these is that the switch must provide a requirement for CLRs on the order of 10-10 to meet the QoS of high- performance traffic and avoid costly retransmissions. In this paper, the proposed approach shows not only the better traffic performance but also requires the little switching elements and buffers compared with original Knockout switch and other scheduling algorithm. As a result, the complexity becomes reduced. Simulation results indicate that proposed approach shows excellent cell loss ratio compared with existing switch architecture. Also, iii performance can be approached to the cell loss ratio, which is requirement for the satellite system, as window size increases. An(1 it shows thats low complexity is induced. Therefore, the proposed approach is appropriate for satellite on-board ATM switch architecture.
A Scheduling Method for QoS Switching of Multicast Packet

This paper proposes a sound multicast packet-switching method which can less affect QoS(Quality of Service) degradation. The method includes a switch fabric with extra switching paths dedicated f()r multicast packets. Presented also are both a buffering structure and a scheduling algorithm for the proposed method. Simulation analysis for the method shows that the switching delay of unicast packets is decreased even though arrival rate of multicast packets is increased.
Performance Evaluation of TDX-families DTMF Receiver with the QFT

The economical detection of dual-tone multi-frequency(DTMF) signals is an important factor when developing cost-effective telecommunication equipment. Each channel has independently a DTMF receiver, and it informs the detected signal to processors. In order to detect the DTMF signals, this paper analyze the power spectra of the DTMF receiver by using the QFT algorithm. As experimental result, by analyzing 2
M/ real data in terms of ITU-T specification, it show that the QFT algorithm improve the performance of the DTMF receiver and can save memory waste and can the real-time processing.
Load Balanced Cost Calculation Scheme for Efficient Precomputation of QoS Routes

In this paper, we propose a scheme of calculating resources\` costs for precomputation in QoS routing schemes. This scheme is effective in respect to the g1oba1 network utilization and the balanced use of network resources. We also propose a QoS routing scheme for transit and intra traffic in a large scale of domain-based network. For a domain in the network, the routing scheme first precomputes multiple paths between all pairs of ingress and egress border routers while considering balancing of the expected load and then selects paths with the probability of path selection. We, therefore, expect that the paths are better than any other paths in respect to reserving the network resources on paths. The routing scheme combines inter and intra domain routings seamlessly and uses the same cost calculation scheme. And for analysis of a load balancing cost calculation proposed a simulation is done.
A Study on the Design of a RISC core with DSP Support

This paper proposed embedded application-specific microprocessor(YS-RDSP) whose structure has an additional DSP processor on chip. The YS-RDSP can execute maximum four instructions in parallel. To make program size shorter, 16-bit and 32-bit instruction lengths are supported in YS-RDSP. The YS-RDSP provides programmability. controllability, DSP processing ability, and includes eight-kilobyte on-chip ROM and eight-kilobyte RAM. System controller on the chip gives three power-down modes for low-power operation, and SLEEP instruction changes operation statue of CPU core and peripherals. YS-RDSP processor was implemented with Verilog HDL on top-down methodology, and it was improved and verified by cycle-based simulator written in C-language. The verified model was synthesized with 0.7um, 3.3V CMOS standard cell library, and the layout size was 10.7mm78.4mm which was implemented by using automatic P&R software.
A Plan for Improving Long-Distance Telephone Market on IP Environment

The sales of long-distance telephone market decreased every year according to increased mobile phone and Internet users. This paper researches trend of domestic long-distance telephone market, and suggests marketing and improving plan for long-distance telephone network providers. And we investigate the effects of the Internet phone on IP era for long-distance telephone service market. The results of this paper can be used for strategies for improving long-distance telephone market and service development on IP era.
