To measure the performance of call quality, we have built the experiment environment and observed that the delay caused by encapsulation between internet and VoIP telephones is under 5ms at most. The major delay is assumed to be the time required to capsulate the packet for tunnelling of VPN. Because the difference of average delay time is under
, the difference of call quality between VoIP and VoIP telephone adopting VPN is negligible. We have concluded that the capsulation process between PAC and PNS is the major factor influencing the network load by changing the number of fames in a packet during communication Also, we have concluded that the most suitable frame numbers is tow or three by adding the frame numbers in a packet to obtain the suitable frames in a packet and setting up end-to-end delay under 150ms.

In this paper, we implement resource allocation algorithm based on the WiBro system which including OFDMA, TDD, and we propose the algorithm in order to increase bandwidth efficiency. In this algorithm, data is allocated from the subchannel which has large channel gain to the subchannel which has small channel gain with maximum modulation order. The moment total power is more than available power, the modulation order of the latest subchannel is adjusted. The problem of decreasing of throughput in large channel attenuation environment is solved by allocating additional power. Still, this algorithm has large bandwidth efficiency.

In this paper, the reduction scheme of Interchannel Interference(ICI) caused by the phase noise in Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing(OFDM) systems for archiving high data rates is proposed. The performance of conventional common phase error(CPE) compensation method is degraded by the phase noise with wide 3dB bandwidth in OFDM systems width a higher-order constellation. After estimating dominant ICI coefficients using pilot subcarriers and data subcarriers adjacent to pilot subcarriers, the proposed scheme compensates OFDM signals distorted by the phase noise using estimated coefficients in the time or frequency domain. Also, in order to determine the length of dominant ICI coefficients effectively, the estimation method of the 3dB bandwidth of the phase noise is proposed. The proposed phase noise reduction method is shown to improve the Bit Error Ratio(BER) performance compared with the conventional CPE compensation.

In this paper, we present a new scheduling scheme for MIMO OFDM Multiuser Diversity System. This scheduling scheme maximizes the system throughput, and at the same time fairly shares the resources based on the feedback information from the receivers and the queue information. To show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, we evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm as compared to K&H and RR algorithms.
Real-time Measurement Model of Indoor Environment Using Ultrasonic Sensor
Lee Man hee ; Cho Whang ;
The Journal of Korean Institute of Communications and Information Sciences, volume 30, issue 6A, 2005, Pages 481~487
In order to increase the autonomous navigation capability of a mobile robot, it is very crucial to develop a method for recognizing a priori known environmental characteristics. This paper proposes an ultrasonic sensor based real-time method for recognizing a priori known indoor environmental characteristics like a wall and corner. The ultrasonic sensor consists of an ultrasonic transmitter and two ultrasonic receivers placed symmetrically about the transmitter. Unlike previous methods the information obtained from the sensor is processed in real-time by extended Kalman filter to be able to correct the position and orientation of robot with respect to known environmental characteristics.

The DAB(Digital Audio Broadcasting) service which is based on the Eureka-147 of Europe is developed to DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) service that is divided into Terrestrial DMB and Satellite DMB. The Satellite DMB is a new broadcasting service, which will service multi-channel multimedia broadcasting by the portable receiver or the vehicle receiver. In this paper, we consider that link level performance of satellite DMB system A which is based on the COFDM(Coded Orthogonal Division Multiplexing). It uses the OFDM method which is sensitive to nonlinearity, so we analyze the effect of the HPA(High Power Amplifier) nonlinearity. And then we define the appropriate back-off value by performing the link level simulation considering back-off effect. Also we consider the effect of frequency and time offset, and then confirm the overall link level performance by analyzing and verifying a suitable synchronization method for satellite DMB system A.

The Journal of Korean Institute of Communications and Information Sciences, volume 30, issue 6A, 2005, Pages 499~509
The capacity of Satellite DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) system is limited mainly by the interference. So, to achieve the expected performance of Satellite DMB system and to minimize the interference from other Satellite DMB system, ACI(Adjacent Channel Interference) should be considered carefully. Satellite DMB system uses the Gap-filler for effective transmission in terrestrial environment, and the Gap-filler can use direct amplification or frequency conversion to satisfy the specific requirements. Therefore, amplified signal causes several effects on interference between System A(Eureka 147 DAB) and System E(ISDB : Integrated services Digital Broadcasting). In this paper, by using the outcome of system-level simulation considering the results of link-level simulation, we analyze the interferences between System A and System E under practical situation based on the exact parameters of ITU-R BO. 1130-4. We also propose the appropriate level of guard band and Cell Radius to optimize system capacity by adapting the spectrum mask given in the spec. and utilizing the interference analysis between System A and System E.

The Journal of Korean Institute of Communications and Information Sciences, volume 30, issue 6A, 2005, Pages 510~516
In this paper, we discuss parameters of line code and simulate a same optical ethernet having minimum bandwidth(MB810) and non-minimum bandwidth line code(8B/10B) to present the possibility of improving of transmission performance using minimum bandwidth line code on the high speed optical ethernet. We design the high speed optical ethernet using Serial type LAN PHY 10GBASE-E(WDM type LAN PHY 10GBASE-LX4) for the single(multi) channel link. To compare the transmission performance of MB810, 8B/10B line code we measure the bit error rate(BER) according to the received optical power of single and multi channel link.
Implementation & Performance Analysis of Virtual Storage System Based on iSCSI Protocol in Wireless Networks
Choi Sae-bom ; Lim Hyotaek ;
The Journal of Korean Institute of Communications and Information Sciences, volume 30, issue 6A, 2005, Pages 517~525
iSCSI(Internet Small Computer System Interface) is a block-oriented storage access protocol that enables a user to recognize a remote storage as their own local block device through general TCP/IP networks. Since iSCSI uses a standard ethernet switch and router for this kind of access, it can not only be applied to ethernet technologies, but can also be used to create a storage networking system without any distance restrictions that can equally be applied to a wireless network environment. Accordingly, focusing on this applicability, this paper presents an alternative approach to overcome the limited storage space of mobile devices based on the iSCSI initiator driver, which was originally designed for wired networks. Additionally, its potential with a wireless network is also evaluated.

The Journal of Korean Institute of Communications and Information Sciences, volume 30, issue 6A, 2005, Pages 526~534
This paper presents the structure and function of the system which automatically generates embedded processor cores using the SMDL. Accepting processor description in the SDML, the proposed system generates the processor core, consisting of the pipelined datapath and memory modules together with their control unit. The generated cores support muti-cycle instructions for proper handling of memory accesses, and resolve pipeline hazards encountered in the pipelined processors. Experimental results show the functional accuracy of the generated cores.
