A Fast Global Mobility Supporting Scheme for IPv6 Using Global Mobility Agent (GMA)

The Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6) has been standardized by the IETF NETLMM WG for network-based mobility management. The PMIPv6 can provide IP mobility for Mobile Nodes (MNs) with low handover latency and less wireless resource usage. But, since the PMIPv6 is basically designed for local mobility management, it cannot support directly global mobility management between different PMIPv6 domains. In the PMIPv6, since all traffic is routed through a Local Mobility Anchor (LMA), it causes a long end-to-end delay and triangular routing problem. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a fast network-based global mobility management scheme and route optimization scheme with a new network entity, called Global Mobility Agent (GMA). Numerical analysis and simulation results show that the proposed scheme is able to support global mobility between different public domains with low handover latency and low end-to-end delay, compared with the PMIPv6.
A Novel Method of Fast Attachment for Non-DNAv6 Hosts in the DNAv6 Network

The DNAv6 was designed to support fast attachment for a host, which is corresponding to the movement detection part in the mobility management. Since, however, the DNAv6 has supported only DNAv6-capable ARs and DNAv6-capable hosts, an non-DNAv6 host could not support fast handoff function in a DNAv6 network. In this paper, we consider a new method of the fast attachment of non-DNAv6 hosts. To support the non-DNAv6 host in DNAv6 networks, we suggest a novel algorithm, RCA algorithm, where an AR can decide whether a host has the DNAv6 function and whether it has moved to a new link or not, and then the AR can inform the host of new link information. For the RCA algorithm, we proposed to modify the RS message and the Reconf_Link message with addition of some fields. To validate our RCA algorithm and its performance, we have accomplished simulation tests for the ND process, the DNAv6 process and the modified DNAv6 process with our RCA algorithm. In the viewpoints of the attachment delay and complexity, the proposed algorithm gives the better delay performance than the ND process while it presents the less complexity than the DNAv6 process.
Proposal and Design of a Novel SNA Protocol for the Power Control System

In this paper, we proposed and designed a novel SNA protocol which operates in the way of a server and a client in the power control system. The proposed SNA protocol includes the information about the mode switching, the saving position of context information, the user trigger, and so forth, which are needed in the power management devices. We consider the application of the SNA protocol to the home network, where message flows between the SNA server and the SNA client. To verify the operation of the SNA protocol, the state transition diagrams of the server in the home gateway and the client in the network device are shown. Hence, we can conclude the SNA can operate without malfuction.
A Proxy Mobile IP based Fast Layer-3 Handover scheme for Mobile WiMAX based Wireless Mesh Networks

Wireless mesh networks have been widely studied as the next generation technology to solve the problems of conventional wireless networks. Particularly, Mobile WiMAX based wireless mesh networks are noticed due to many advantages. Mobile WiMAX standard provides two kinds of layer-3 handover schemes: Mobile IP and Proxy Mobile IP based handover schemes. MIP based handover scheme has a problem in that it incurs the long handover latency because mobile nodes generate a lot of handover messages. On the other hand, PMIP based handover scheme decreases the handover latency by reducing the number of handover messages, because mobile nodes do not participate in handover procedure. Therefore, layer-3 handover for Mobile WiMAX should be designed based on PMIP. However, conventional PMIP based handover still has latency overhead, because of many message exchanges between PBU and PBA after completing the layer-2 handover. Hence, in this paper, we propose a fast layer-3 handover scheme that achieves the lower handover latency for Mobile WiMAX based wireless mesh networks. Proposed scheme has advantages in terms of handover latency. Simulation results show that proposed scheme achieves low handover latency during the layer-3 handover.
An Admission Control for End-to-end Performance Guarantee in Next Generation Networks

Next Generation Networks (NGN) is defined as IP-based networks with multi-services and with multi-access networks. A variety of services and access technologies are co-existed within NGN. Therefore there are numerous transport technologies such as Differentiated Services (DiffServ), Multi-protocol Label Switching (MPLS), and the combined transport technologies. In such an environment, flows are aggregated and de-aggregated multiple times in their end-to-end paths. In this research, a method for calculating end-to-end delay bound for such a flow, provided that the information exchanged among networks regarding flow aggregates, especially the maximum burst size of a flow aggregate entering a network. We suggest an admission control mechanism that can decide whether the requested performance for a flow can be met. We further verify the suggested calculation and admission algorithm with a few realistic scenarios.
Influence of User's Behavior about Delay on Media Server

At present multimedia service composed of voice, data, and video service is prevalent in the Internet. As such, wide-scale penetration of Internet service imposes tremendous pressure to the network infrastructure such as the media servers and links as well as the nodes. In addition, users from a large-scale population require broad bandwidth and high level of QoS. This requires a network with reliable and scalable services to customers, which also necessitates a realistic method for the design of the a media server. In this work, we explore the influence of user's behavior about delay on the performance of media server that takes into account the system and user attributes in a realistic manner. By incorporating user's behavior about the delay-sensitivity, we present an analytic framework for the evaluation of the performance of the media server, via which we illustrate a meaningful intuition in the provision of Internet multimedia service.
Mobility-adaptive QoE Provisioning Solution in Heterogeneous Wireless Access Networks

This paper introduces the mobility-adaptive QoE provisioning solution. The key is placed on the intelligent selection of access network depending on the QoE criteria classified by the user mobility and the bandwidth demand for service. We further focus on the network-based smart handover scheme using the mobility-adaptive handover decision and the enhanced MIH-FMIP framework. The concept is the network-based calm service and the balance in order to facilitate vertical and seamless handover. In result, it is figured out that our solution improves QoE performance by selecting appropriate access network, repressing handover occurrence, and reducing handover delay as well.
Multi-Level based Application Traffic Classification Method

Recently as the number of users and application traffic is increasing on high speed network, the importance of application traffic classification is growing more and more for efficient network resource management. Although a number of methods and algorithms for traffic classification have been introduced, they have some limitations in terms of accuracy and completeness. In this paper we propose an application traffic classification based multi-level architecture which integrates several signature-based methods and behavior algorithm, and analyzes traffic using correlation among traffic flows. By strengthening the strength and making up for the weakness of individual methods we could construct a flexible and robust multi-level classification system. Also, by experiments with our campus network traffic we proved the performance and validity of the proposed mechanism.
International Interworking Research and Demonstration using FENIUS

In this paper, we show the research works of the international interworking between networking resource managers over national research networks, and also show the demonstrations about them. Each national research network of each country consists of 10 Giga network facilities which are based on optical technologies, and also has each own networking resource manager. Internationally, most of countries have worked on the standard for interworking over the national research networks, and finally developed FENIUS.as the results. Korea, U.S.A., Japan, and Europe can interwork with each other after developing their own adapting system for FENIUS. We provide the system architecture and the demonstration.
Out-of-Band Emission Mask Analysis of Terrestrial Low Power DMB Repeater

In this paper, worldwide standards and regulations on in-band/out-of-band emission characteristics of DMB broadcasting equipments are reviewed, and emission mask requirements of terrestrial low power DMB repeater under 10mW/MHz are analyzed. Out-of-band emission mask drafts suitable for single/multiple block low power repeaters are proposed. Validity and usefulness of the proposed drafts is evaluated and verified in the several experiments. Using the proposed standard, small-sized and cost-effective DMB repeater can be easily implemented to broaden DMB broadcasting coverage by reducing weak signal areas.
An Analysis on BitTorrent Performance Based on the Number of Unchoked Peers

A strength of BitTorrent, which is widely used for file sharing today, is due to its peer selection mechanism which is designed to encourage peers to contribute data. In the peer selection phase in BitTorrent, peers to upload the file in a swarm are selected by determining which peers upload the most to themselves. However, the number of peers to upload (i.e., number of unchoked peers) is fixed to four in its peer selection mechanism of BitTorrent, which yields inefficiency because the situation of the swarm may vary frequently (e.g., number of peers in the swarm, download rates, and upload rates). In this paper, we analyze the swarming system performance when the number of unchoked in BitTorrents is not static, but dynamic. For empirical investigation, we established a testbed in Seoul National University by modifying an open-source BitTorrent client, which is popular. Through our experiments, we show that an adaptive mechanism to adjust the number of unchoked peers considering the situation of the swarm is needed to improve the performance of BitTorrent.
Two-Dimensional Dimming Algorithm using Light Spread Function

In this paper, in order to reduce the power consumption of LCD TV, we present a two-dimensional dimming algorithm for LED BLU(Backlight Unit) using light spread function and a pragmatic implementation method. In conventional two dimensional dimming algorithms, LED BLU is divided into MxN blocks and proper backlight luminance for each block is computed according to input image and used for dimming control. But, LED light of each block is diffused and affects the neighboring blocks so that luminance of each block becomes larger than that of intent. In the proposed algorithm, dimming control values are reduced by the amount of quantity affected by the neighboring blocks using light spread function, resulting in additional reduction of power consumption.
Estimation of Market Size and Value Added by Embedded SW Industry Cluster

There is no reference grasp only embedded SW market because embedded SW is built in SW production. In this paper, In order to know only embedded SW market, we used estimation method size of the amount of production. We draw suitable industry cluster structure of embedded SW market estimation. As we estimated size of embedded SW market by industry cluster. And, We calculated importance of embedded SW by industry cluster and finally we estimated size of embedded SW market. Result of estimation, added values of embedded SW estimated about 27 trillion.
A Study on Composition of IT Shipbuilding Convergenced Education Program

Recently a technology paradigm of ship has been changed to digital ship, IT shipbuilding convergenced technology development and Human training is very important, that is important role of making high valued shipbuilding industrial development. In this paper, we introduce IT shipbuilding convergenced education program for training human of special skill. A course of study is made of analyzing a survey of IT shipbuilding convergenced core technology in shipbuilding industry. we surveyed marine wireless communication technology, S/W solution for vessel, and CAN & SAN technology in IT filed, and ship-building design and vessel construction technology in shipbuilding field. we put in industry specialist in our education program because we have a gole of training the person are adapted immediately in shipbuilding industry.
Method of RFID Network System Application for Improving of Construction Productivity in Construction Site

We study the RFID network system in a construction site, and study the connection method between the RFID network system and the integrated information system of construction material. Moreover, we developed a prototype of the construction site RFID server for the management of construction materials and performed the pilot application in a construction site. Through the pilot application, it was known that the proposed RFID network system can be more usefully applied in the construction sites. The results of the pilot application show that the RFID network system is faster, more accurate, and more reliable than the existing system of information management and achieves improvement in construction productivity.
Analysis of Embedded SW Technology And Strategy of Industrial Foundation Competence

The United States is having a technique from Embedded SW fields of the best in the world, followed by Europe, Japan and Korea. Specially, Korea and Europe technical power is highly estimated and is before Japan from intelligent SW fields. The technical level of Korea compares with advanced countries and it is equal or excellent in application and part field in service SW. In the paper we look at the Embedded SW technical trends and technical level and difference of domestic and foreign among the counties. And we devise a stratagem for the promotion strategy of embedded SW industry.
The Economic Impact of the Smart Grid Industry by using Input-Output Analysis

With the expanding concept of Smart Grid, it is widely used by mixing with various industries, and therefore the potential and value of Smart Grid should be verified and evaluated. To this end, this study is conducted to look at industrial fields that can be expanded by mixing with Smart Grid, and based on it, draw an economic ripple effect of the Smart Grid industry. To grasp the spread direction of the Smart Grid industry, Our study focused on Smart Grid participants and new businesses that can be derived. Through this, energy, construction, home appliances, and automobile industries are selected as convergence businesses. Our study estimated an economic effect by drawing generation rates from input-output tables that applies the selected industry fields and Korean projections. According to the result, effect on total production inducement will be about 77 trillion won, effect on total value added inducement will be about 24 trillion won, and effect on total employment inducement will be about 31 trillion won. Through this, various functions of Smart Grid and the ripple effects on national economy could be expected.
A Study on AMI System of KEPCO

Major utilities have been focusing on R&D and business of AMI system which plays a vital role in SmartGrid whose concept is to optimize energy efficiency with exchanging real time information between utilities and consumers based on IT technologies in power grid. In this paper, we introduce KEPCO's AMI business plan, the AMI System architecture, designed core devices, communication networks and value added services, and also explore technical and business characteristics of KEPCO's AMI system.
