A Study on Downstream Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation Algorithm in Multi-OLT PON System

A multi-OLT PON architecture is proposed to accommodate several types of services or multiple service providers economically in a single PON. The operation protocol and a dynamic bandwidth allocation scheme appropriate for two-OLT structure are proposed. Performance analysis shows that the proposed system is very efficient and can be used in the upcoming higher speed PON system.
Implementation of 500BASE-T with 2 Pairs UTP

More than 100 Mbps rate is needed in the UBcN for a subscriber to receive broadband traffics with multi-channel like UDTV or 3DTV. Although the optical fiber is recently deployed for the FTTH, the UTP is the most widely used medium and will be used in UBcN age. Network providers may consider the 1000BASE-T or the vectorized VDSL if they adopts the UTP in the place where does not have optical fibers. But UTP should be expanded because 1000BASE-T and vectorized UTP needs 4 and 3 pairs cable, respectively while residential region has not exceeding 2 pair UTP cable. To solve the problem, we propose a 500BASE-T technology using 2 pairs UTP in this paper. The technology introduces a rate adaptation sublayer and a SERDES sublayer above and under the PCS, respectively. The rate adaptation sublayer is compatible for the GMII. Also, if we modify the SERDES sublayer, the technology can easily obtain 250BASE-T with 2 pairs UTP. We implement such functions with FPGA and analog board and verify the function of rate adaptation and symbol vector synchronization, and effective transmission rate by experiments. In particular, we show that link efficiency is increased by enable control in the rate adaptation sublayer.
An Implementation of Management Function based on RM for Smart Active RFID Reader

In this paper, we proposed and implemented an EPCglobal Reader Manegement (RM) based management protocol. Using RFID Reader`s management function, we could diagnose an active RFID Reader concretely which was impossible with only using Reader protocols and check the problem quickly when the RFID Reader is in failure. When diagnosing RFID Readers using the proposed RM based management protocol, we can check on their failure in stages and specifically, and can estimate range of failure. This helps RFID Reader`s fast recovery, reduce loss of failure and improve QoS. We could get reader information with almost same overhead compared with the management message in LLRP. And we could get more information about RFID Reader`s operation status.
Flow Mobility of PMIPv6 for Multi-Interface Mobile Nodes

The IEFT has recently considered to provide flow mobility for multi-interface MN in the PMIPv6. In this paper, we proposed an extended BCE of the LMA and a novel mechanism for flow mobility of PMIPv6. With our proposal BCE and mechanism, the LMA can route packets by the flow label and hence packet loss during handover can be eliminated. Also, to validate our flow mobility scheme, we designed and implemented the PMIPv6 packet data unit and database of both LMA and MAG, and configured a testbed for flow mobility in PMIPv6. And the support of flow mobility was configured with the network connectivity test in our testbed. According to the Wireshark results, we can see that our proposed scheme works wells for flow mobility in PMIPv6.
Performance Analysis of a Fast Vertical Handover Scheme between MIH and PFMIPv6

For vertical handover, the part for the homogeneous handover needs to be modified, which allows users to utilize the various wireless access schemes with a mobile terminal with PFMIPv6. In this paper, we considered a cross-layer design for fast vertical handover between MIH and PFMIPv6, where two MIH-layer messages are suggested to reduce handover latency and integrate between MIH and PFMIPv6 efficiently. The proposed scheme is evaluated with handover latency. The results show that the proposed handover procedure reduces handover latency compared with the existing one.
A Next-generation Mobility Management Scheme for an IPv4/IPv6 Dual-stack Terminal

In this paper, we propose a network-based IP mobility management scheme, called Access Independent Mobile Service with IPv4/IPv6 Dual Stack (AIMS-DS), which can provide high-quality multimedia services to IPv4/IPv6 dual-stack mobile nodes (MNs) without any interruption over various wireless/wired access networks. The proposed scheme provides an MN with a fast and reliable mobility service among heterogeneous wireless access networks through the network-based control, the complete separation method of control and data plane, the cross-layer (layer2 and layer3) interworking method for handover control acceleration, etc, In addition, the proposed AIMS-DS can provide seamless mobility service to an MN under the environments of IPv4/IPv6 coexisting networks through the home address mobility support and transport network support. Through performance evaluation with computer simulations, we have shown the superiority of the proposed AIMS-DS in terms of handover latency, packet 1085 and packet delivery latency.
An Empirical Study on Sunk-Cost Fallacy under the Two-Part Tarriff

The purpose of this paper is to test empirically whether the sunk cost fallacy occurres or not under the two-part tarriff and to give the desirable rate-making for minimizing sunk cost fallacy. According to the results of analysis highly paid monthly fee makes more traffics over the level of optimal consumption because of sunk cost fallacy. Therefore monthly fee reduction will cause the optimal consumption that is near the solution of their own utility function.
A Node-Grouping MAC Protocol in Delay-Tolerant Underwater Acoustic Sensor Networks

In this paper, we propose a novel energy efficient MAC protocol which is based on orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) and exploits the physical characteristic that propagation loss of acoustic wave depends on the distance. In the proposed scheme, sensor nodes are grouped according to the distance to sink node. Then, each group uses a different frequency band. The proposed scheme not only enables all sensor nodes to maintain the signal-to-noise ratio above a certain required level (Accepted Minimum SNR, AMS), but also reduces overall transmission power consumption. In addition, the dynamic sub-channel allocation is employed in order to improve data transmission rate. Simulations show that proposed MAC protocol has better performance in a delay-tolerant underwater acoustic sensor networks.
Adaptive Equalization using PDP Matching Algorithms for Underwater Communication Channels with Impulsive Noise

In this paper, a supervised adaptive equalization algorithm based on probability density function (PDF) matching method is introduced and its decision-feedback version is proposed for underwater communication channels with strong impulsive noise and severe multipath characteristics. The conventional least mean square (LMS) algorithm based on mean squared error (MSE) criterion has shown to be incapable of coping with impulsive noise and multipath effects commonly shown in underwater communications. The linear PDF matching algorithm, which shows immunity to impulsive noise, however, has revealed to yield unsatisfying performance under severe multipath environments with impulsive noise. On the other hand, the proposed nonlinear PDF matching algorithm with decision feedback proves in the simulation to possess superior robustness against impulsive noise and multipath characteristics of underwater communication channels.
Fiber Sensor Network for Vessel Monitoring based on Code Division Multiple Access

We propose a multiplexed fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensor network for vessel monitoring to measure the variation of strain and temperature by environmental perturbation based on code division multiple access (CDMA). The center wavelength of FBG was linearly changed by environmental perturbation such as strain and temperature variation so that we could be monitoring the state of sensors. A RSOA was used as optical broadband source and which was modulated by using pseudo random binary sequence (PRBS) signal. The correlation peak of reflected signal from sensor networks was measured. In this paper, we used the sliding correlation techniques for high speed response and dynamic rage of sensors.
A Study on Blood Management System based on SIP for Ubiquitous Healthcare service

RFID/USN core technologies for ubiquitous computing, It is possible to use variety of sensors, direct processors, and wireless network technology that easily collect the actual physical environment and can monitor information remotely. Especially the healthcare industry and services combined with U-Healthcare that have international competitiveness in the medical field. But the USN, standard management system of RFID such as EPCglobal architecture framework, the lack of interoperability issues and the global sensor network implementation. In this paper, a system for managing sensor nodes of the USN, USN of SIP-based management system (UMS) is proposed. UMS support Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), provide session management and mobility capabilities, that is based on Internet standard protocol. UMS architecture of the existing SIP architecture, added USN User Agent (UUA) and the USN Name Server (UNS) that the location of sensor nodes should be possible to trace. UUA on behalf of the limited capacity of the location of the sensor nodes to perform the registration process, UNS to track the location of the sensor nodes to provide name resolution services. The proposed management system has the advantage of internet applications such as Web services interoperability and easy to recycle existing resources with other SIP-based because it uses the Internet standard protocol SIP. In this paper we propose is based on the UMS blood temperature management system is verified through the scenario.
Performance of Detection Probability based on Energy Sensing Schemes for VLC Systems

The visible light convergence communication technology is suitable for indoor wireless communication and digital lighting fixtures, it could be used as lighting devices as well as a communication device. However, because that VLC is the technology of came to world a few years ago, there are many problems which had to solve. The signal sensing of VLC transmitter is one of the most challenging issue in VLC systems. Therefore in this paper, we analysis the performance of various sensing scheme for efficient detection of VLC systems. The signal of user is OFDM signal and the wirelss channel between a user and VLC system is modeled as indoor VLC channel. From the simulation results, it is confirmed that the proposed scheme is very effective to signal sensing for VLC systems.
A Study of VLC Channel Modeling using user Location Environment

In this paper, channel modeling and analysis of wireless visible light communication(VLC) were studied in indoor circumstance. Photons emitted from LED straightly moved and navigated within indoor, after that a part of photons reached on PD via LOS(Line Of Sight) or NLOS(None Line Of Sight). These received signals had characteristics of delay profile and attenuation, which was multiple-path fading. In this paper, computer simulation of VLC channel was executed under the condition that two LEDs were used for transmitter and three PDs were located at different positions of the 20*8*2.3m sized indoor. BER performance simulation was excuted based on the characteristics of each VLC channel.
A Study of Watermarking Data Transmission Scheme for BPSK-OFDM Based LED Communication System

In this paper, BPSK-OFDM-based LED communication systems are applied to watermarking techniques, were studied on how to transfer the additional information data with at the same time as the transfer of LED communication data. For watermarking kasami code was used as spreading codes, and spread additional data is controlled by small signal level to be BPSK-OFDM does not affect the optical signal. BPSK-OFDM is added to an optical signal is transmitted. The performance of the spreading code as a kasami code is autocorrelation of the noise-free environment, under the noise environment was confirmed by autocorrelation. BPSK-OFDM-based LED communication system has been applied proposed technique throughout the simulation in analyzed to BER of BPSK-OFDM DER performance and watermark signal level according to signal size level of data. That was availability confirmed for watermarking data transmit techniques data as being analysis detection performance of watermarking information using LED communication according to the code.
LED Emotional Lighting Algorithm and Application using Audio Spectrum

In this paper, efficient functions for audio spectrum mapping with visible spectrum are proposed. Through mapping overall hearing frequency band with visible frequency band, emotional lighting might be possible. We propose a basic linear mapping function and non-linear mapping functions emphasizing specific audio frequency bands. For the algorithm implementation, spectrum analysis method and filter method are introduced. Especially, in this paper, a prototype LED lighting equipment using the digital filter method is implemented. The proposed lighting method can be applied to many LED lighting area using music.
Study on Scalable Video Coding Signals Transmission Scheme using LED-ID System

In this paper, using the indoor LED-ID communication system have researched for how to transmit video signals. In LED-ID communications use the LEDs for lighting features at the same time communication is an effective way to implement. This proposed system using Visible light(RGB) as way to transmit signals, depends on the mixture RGB, which decided the color of light, moreover, each things determined their performance. However, if the video signal were fixed allocated RGB to transmit such as the original system, the importance of the each signals a different occur the limit on the quality of the video than SVC signals. In order to solve this problem in this paper, according to the RGB mixture ratios analyze the performance for the White LED, which analyzed based on allocating the SVC signal by transmitting to improve the quality of the video was about how researched.
