Performance Enhancement of Proxy Mobile IPv6 using Binding Query

In the Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6), the data transmission performance may be degraded when the two communicating hosts are located within the same mobile domain, since all the data packet shall be delivered by way of Local Mobility Anchor (LMA). In this paper we propose an extensional scheme of PMIPv6 using binding query. In the proposed Query-based PMIPv6 (Q-PMIPv6) scheme, the Mobile Access Gateway (NAG) of Correspondent Node (CN) sends a binding query to LMA to obtain the Proxy Care-of-Address of Mobile Node (MN). Since then, CN and MN can communicate with each other by using an optimized data path. For comparison, we performed the numerical analysis and the ns-2 simulations for the proposed Q-PMIPv6 scheme and the existing PMIPv6 and PMIPv6 Localized Routing (PMIPv6-LR). From the results, we can see that the proposed scheme outperforms the existing PMIPv6 and PMIPv6-LR schemes in terms of the signaling control and data delivery costs.
Classification of Client-side Application-level HTTP Traffic

Today, many applications use 80 port, which is a basic port number of HTTP protocol, to avoid a blocking of firewall. HTTP protocol is used in not only Web browsing but also many applications such as the search of P2P programs, update of softwares and advertisement transfer of nateon messenger. As HTTP traffics are increasing and various applications transfer data through HTTP protocol, it is essential to identify which applications use HTTP and how they use the HTTP protocol. In order to prevent a specific application in the firewall, not the protocol-level, but the application-level traffic classification is necessary. This paper presents a method to classify HTTP traffics based on applications of the client-side and group the applications based on providing services. We developed an application-level HTTP traffic classification system and verified the method by applying the system to a small part of the campus network.
A Smart Set-Pruning Trie for Packet Classification

Packet classification is one of the basic and important functions of the Internet routers, and it became more important along with new emerging application programs requiring real-time transmission. Since packet classification should be accomplished in line-speed on each incoming input packet for multiple header fields, it becomes one of the challenges in designing Internet routers. Various packet classification algorithms have been proposed to provide the high-speed packet classification. Hierarchical approach achieves effective packet classification performance by significantly narrowing down the search space whenever a field lookup is completed. However, hierarchical approach involves back-tracking problem. In order to solve the problem, set-pruning trie and grid-of-trie algorithms are proposed. However, the algorithm either causes excessive node duplication or heavy pre-computation. In this paper, we propose a smart set-pruning trie which reduces the number of node duplication in the set-pruning trie by the simple merging of the lower-level tries. Simulation result shows that the proposed trie has the reduced number of copied nodes by 2-8% compared with the set-pruning trie.
A Countermeasure Scheme Based on Whitelist using Bloom Filter against SIP DDoS Attacks

SIP(Session Initiation Protocol) has some security vulnerability because it works on the Internet. Therefore, the proxy server can be affected by the flooding attack such as DoS and service interruption. However, traditional schemes to corresponding Denial of Service attacks have some limitation. These schemes have high complexity and cannot protect to the variety of Denial of Service attack. In this paper, we newly define the normal user who makes a normal session observed by verifier module. Our method provides continuous service to the normal users in the various situations of Denial of Service attack as constructing a whitelist using normal user information. Various types of attack/normal traffic are modeled by using OPNET simulator to verify our scheme. The simulation results show that our proposed scheme can prevent DoS attack and achieve a low false rate and fast searching time.
BCC Based Mobile WIMAX Initial Network Entry with Improved Security

Initial entry section has vulnerability which exposes plain text parameter in Mobile WIMAX environment which is the 4th generation technology. Each node message need to be encrypted to prevent the third party attack or message leakage. In this paper, we propose Mobile WIMAX initial entry section encryption using Elliptic Curve Cryptosystem. We have compared proposed model with existing model using OPNET simulator tool. He delay rate has increased little bit in initial entry section than before after the comparison, but it has shown more effective in average delay and throughput than encryption applied other existing model.

Recently, The Problem of Global Warming around the world, is emerging as a very serious environmental problems, and as a way to fix it 'Green IT' is becoming an Issue. In these situations the evolution of network technologies with a various attacks, it appears, add the different security devices and systems are deployed. But, Deployment methods such a network, the performance and security of the internal network will affect on the greater and it will be increase Carbon Dioxide emissions. Enhancement of Android Runtime Performance using Method Signature

In this paper, we have shown Dalvik virtual machine implementation to reduce the profiling overhead from the trace of the JIT compiler for the specific method. By running the same Java method on the original Dalvik VM and the modified Dalvik VM, we have achieved around 30% performance improvement with this algorithm. In this paper, to increase the reader's understanding of Android Dalvik virtual machine, we will explain the architecture of Dalvik JIT compiler and we will provide the detailed explanation with source codes for modified parts of Dalvik virtual machine. From the industry perspective, we can expect competitive benefits over the competitors with performance improvement in Android core.
The Design of MPI Hardware Unit for Enhanced Broadcast Communication

This paper proposes an algorithm and hardware architecture for a broadcast communication which has the worst bottleneck among multiprocessor using distributed memory architectures. In conventional systems, collective communication is converted into point-to-point communications by MPI library cell without considering the state of communication port of each processing node which represents the processing node is in busy state or free state. If conflicting point-to-point communication occurs during broadcast communication, the transmitting speed for broadcast communication is decreased. Thus, this paper proposed an algorithm which determines the order of point-to-point communications for broadcast communication according to the state of each processing node. According to the state of each processing node, the proposed algorithm decreases total broadcast communication time by transmitting message preferentially to the processing node with communication port in free state. The proposed MPI unit for broadcast communication is evaluated by modeling it with systemC. In addition, it achieved a highly improved performance for broadcast communication up to 78% with 16 nodes. This result shows the proposed algorithm is useful to improving total performance of MPSoC.
Red Tide Algae Recognition using PCA and Roundness

Red tide is a natural phenomenon that change sea color by harmful algal blooms. There have been many studies on red tide due to increasing of red tide damage. However, to automatically classify the red tide algae is not enough. Recognition of red tide algae is difficult because they do not have matching center features for recognizing algae image object. Previously studies are used a few type of red tide algae for classification. In this paper, we proposed the red tide algae recognition method using PCA and roundness of image objects.
The Road Reservation Scheme in Emergency Situation for Intelligent Transportation Systems

Transportation has been playing important role in our society by providing for people, freight, and information. However, it cuts its own throat by causing car accidents, traffic congestion, and air pollution. The main cause of these problems is a noticeable growth in the number of vehicles. The easiest way to mitigate these problems is to build new road infrastructures unless resources such as time, money, and space are limited. Therefore, there is a need to manage the existing road infrastructures effectively and safely. In this paper, we propose a road reservation scheme that provides fast and safe response for emergency vehicles using ubiquitous sensor network. Our idea is to allow emergency vehicle to reserve a road on a freeway for arriving to the scene of the accident quickly and safely. We evaluate the performance by three reservation method (No, Hop, and Full) to show that emergency vehicles such as ambulances, fire trucks, or police cars can rapidly and safely reach their destination. Simulation results show that the average speed of road reservation is about 1.09 ~ 1.20 times faster than that of non-reservation at various flow rates. However, road reservation should consider the speed of the emergency vehicle and the road density of the emergency vehicle processing direction, as a result of Hop Reservation and Full Reservation performance comparison analysis. We confirm that road reservation can guarantee safe driving of emergency vehicles without reducing their speed and help to mitigate traffic congestion.
Analysis on Interference Impact of WiFi on DTV

TV White Spaces (TVWS) are freed up after transition from analog television to Digital Television (DTV). Some wireless communications are allowable to operate in TVWSs, such unlicensed Wireless Fidelity (WiFi). Because TVWSs are located in the VHF and UHF bands, TVWSs can provide significantly better coverage and wall penetration inside buildings and other structures than the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz WiFi frequencies currently in use. Therefore, this paper assumes that WiFi will be deployed in TVWSs. However, the interference impact of WiFi on DTV has to be taken into account. The interference probability in DTV receiver was evaluated by using Spectrum Engineering Advanced Monte-Carlo Analysis Tool (SEAMCAT). As a result, when 20 WiFi UEs are simultaneously operating at the maximum transmit power of 23 dBm and the guard band is 22 MHz, the protection distance should be at least 6 km to meet the interference probability of 5% in DTV receiver.
NetLogo Extension Module for the Active Participatory Simulations with GoGo Board

Flooding based routing protocols are usually used to disseminate information in wireless sensor networks. Those approaches, however, require message retransmissions to all nodes and induce huge collision rate and high energy consumption. In this paper, HoGoP (Hop based Gossiping Protocol) in which all nodes consider the number of hops from sink node to them, and decide own gossiping probabilities, is introduced. A node can decide its gossiping probability according to the required average reception percentage and the number of parent nodes which is counted with the difference between its hop and neighbors' ones. Therefore the decision of gossiping probability for network topology is adaptive and this approach achieves higher message reception percentage with low message retransmission than the flooding scheme. Through simulation, we compare the proposed protocol with some previous ones and evaluate its performance in terms of average reception percentage, average forwarding percentage, and forwarding efficiency. In addition, average reception percentage is analyzed according to the application requirement.
Design of Zigbee Beacon Frame for High Efficiency Transmit in Home Network

Zigbee is communication technology most ideal because Zigbee support low power communication and wide expansion in wireless home network. However, Zigbee is not popular, because of Zigbee always has Hidden Node Problem and Transit Delay Problem. We propose new Beacon Frame structure to solve the two problem in Zigbee. New Beacon Frame structure reduces a Super Frame Duration and add a same space of a Control Frame Duration. We expect to solved method of Hidden Node Problem that exchange terminal information to using RTS/CTS. Also, We expect to solved method of Transit Delay Problem that put Beacon between Control Frame Duration and Super Frame Duration for synchronization. We confirm new Beacon Frame to solved two problem in OPNET simulation at Zigbee QoS Parameters. We measure Delay(sec) for solution degree of Transit Delay Problem, and measure Throughput(bits/sec) and Load (bits/sec) for solution degree of Hidden Node Problem.
An Energy-efficient LED Lighting Control Scheme with Provision of User Illumination Requirement

Due to many recent activities on enforcement of the intensified environmental regulation such as the policies of curbing the greenhouse gas and the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS), the usage of Light emitting diode (LED) has been rapidly increased and energy efficient management of LED light system is regarded as an important technology to enhance the energy efficiency. In this paper, we propose an energy-efficient control scheme of LED light, being composed of multiple light sources. The proposed scheme controls the intensity of LED light source to minimize the total intensity while providing the quality of lighting service. The intensity of light is assumed to be proportional to power consumption, thus the objective is to minimize the total power consumption. A linear programming problem is formulated to find the optimal intensity of each light source and procedure to apply the proposed scheme in the real system is suggested. The performance evaluation results elucidate that the proposed scheme achieves over 20% improvement in power consumption of light intensity in comparison with the conventional dimming control scheme.
Implement of VLC System Based on CAN Communication

In this paper, we implement the VLC system based on CAN communication which is usually used in car, plane, ship, product line control system, medical device and industrial device. We implement the application circuit which is VLC and CAN communication and explain the principle. Circuit's pulse features are demonstrated by each part's signal. Total communication distance is 3m and it's transmission performance is error free.
Un-Cooled High Efficient Solar Lighting System and its Application

This paper describes solar light collecting system which employs parabolic reflector and Fresnel lens and its industrial application. We have introduced second-stage optical system so that it makes optical fiber overcome its numerical aperture limitation and also it makes focused light become collimated, which results in decreased light energy density. As result of these, light collecting efficiency become maximized and the system does not require separate cooling apparatus any more. The developed solar lighting system together with artificial light source like LED has been applied to plant factory as a hybrid lighting source. This makes us save electric energy for artificial lighting during day time. The intensity of LED light in the hybrid lighting system is controlled automatically according to ambient-light-sensor installed in the system so that the light intensity for a plant always keeps the same level no matter how the sun light changes. For a plant factory whose size is 330 square meters, when solar lighting system is applied, 28,080KWh electric energy can be saved per month.2 times.
The Detection of Promising R&D Fields m OLED Illumination Industry

This study performed a detecting research of promising R&D field utilizing intuitive methodology regarding OLED illumination industry. For this, 69 professionals of the illumination industry in Korea were composed as a panel to hold an in-depth interview and survey for 1 month. The study classified the OLED illumination industry as 4 fields of panel, material/component for panel, manufacturing equipment, and lighting system, and selected core technology for each field, and divided it into a total of 14 possible fields for R&D. As a result of evaluating the technological competitive power for each field, the field in Korea which received the highest technological competitive power was OLED panel, and contrarily, technological competitive power of material/component for OLED panel showed the lowest, which requires improvement Meanwhile, evaluating economical aspect, conformity to policy, and effectiveness of R&D in general, 7 promising R&D fields were selected. The 4 core technologies of OLED panel, which are, white, transparent, color change and flexible OLED manufacturing technology were evaluated as the most promising fields, and next, organic material for surface light source, material/component for substrate and equipment for forming large sized substrate were evaluated as promising fields.
A Hybrid Key Management Scheme in Tactical Ad-hoc Network

A next generation military communication system called Tactical Information Communication Network(TICN) is designed to advance into large capacity, high speed, and long distance wireless relay transmission. To support mobility in battlefield, the application of Ad-hoc networking technology to its wireless communication is being considered. In Ad-hoc network, the key management technique is very important to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and authentication. In this paper, we propose a new hybrid key management scheme considering the hierarchical characteristics of the tactical ad-hoc such as TICN. For upper layer with sufficient energy and computation capability, we apply PKI based key management scheme. For lower layer with restricted resources, we propose a new key management scheme using the location-based authentication to ensure the energy efficiency.
Analysis of Path Loss Model and Channel Characteristics at 2.40Hz on Navy Warship's Internal Space

Recently, wireless network has been playing an important role in communication system and the applications have become wider with its big technological leap. In defence sector, there are some attempts to use wireless networks to go beyond the wire system. Especially, most internal space of the warships have the wired communication system, which are complicated and inefficient. In this paper, we measure and make a channel model about the internal parts of the warship which contain compartments and corridors including many differences from general indoor environment for establishing wireless networks in warship's internal space. In the unique environment made of metal, we measure 2.4GHz signals using continuous wave(CW) and analysis the environment to present indoor path-loss model for comparing with results from the ray-tracing tool. Moreover, we draw the conclusion that the environment of warships has a wide difference from conventional environments and put the results to practical use in warship's internal space.
