Implementation of Integrated Receiver for Terrestrial/Cable/Satellite HD Broadcasting Services

This paper presents an integrated receiver to support multimode broadcasting standards such as DVB-T2, DVB-C2, and DVB-S2 in a single platform. The integrated receiver consists of a tuner block, a receiver engine, a frame processor, and an A/V decoder. The receiver engine includes a channel decoding engine and a demodulation engine to perform OFDM and APSK demodulations. The frame processor performs deinterleaving and BB frame decoding functions. The demodulator engine and the frame processor are implemented in two FPGA devices and DSP-based embedded software, respectively. To verify the functionality of the integrated receiver, it is tested in the laboratory. Commercial PC-based modulators are used to generate the DVB-T2, DVB-C2, and DVB-S2 modulated signals. The integrated receiver was tested under various operation modes as specified in the standards such as DVB-T2, DVB-C2, and DVB-S2 and showed successful operation in all the scenarios tested.
Design and Performance Evaluation of Load-Modulation MIMO System Using High-Order Modulation

In this paper, we analyze LM-MIMO (load-modulation multiple-input multiple-output) system with single RF chain. And then, we confirm that load modulation technique can support generation of high-order m-PSK modulation and m-QAM modulation in LM-MIMO system. Finally we evaluate performance of LM-MIMO system with load modulation. Conventional MIMO system requires a number of RF chains for expansion of MIMO dimension. A number of RF chains can cause various problems. On the other hand, although LM-MIMO system is expanded, LM-MIMO system requires single RF chain only. Therefore, LM-MIMO system has low-complexity and low power consumption. As results, we can confirm that load modulation of T-model can modulate high-order m-PSK and m-QAM singal. Performance Evaluation and Signal Analysis of In-Band Full-Duplex System with ADC Effect

In this paper, we analyze ADC effect in IBFD system. Also, we design IBFD system with ADC effect, and evaluate BER performance of the system according to power of self-interference. Firstly, we describe a fundamentals of general IBFD system. And then we calculate and analyze characteristics of desired signal before and after ADC when residual self-interference is added to desired signal after RF cancellation. In this calculation, we have confirm some conditions for selection of # of ADC bit. Finally, we design IBFD system with ADC effect, and evaluate BER performance of the system by using Simulink simulation tool. As simulation results, we have confirmed that when power of residual self-interference is high before ADC, IBFD system must use high-bit ADC for decreasing quantization step. Also, we have confirmed that quantization step should be lower than one-third of amplitude of desired signal for effective communication with good performance.
Elimination of Bubbles formed by Surface Waves on 3D FLS Images

3D FLS is a active sonar that can represent the underwater inside visually in forward direction. We discuss on the decrease of bubbles from breaking waves in 3D FLS frames. In the experiment using the bubbles reduction filter the effect of bubbles was decreased a lot.
Performance Analysis of Massive MIMO Systems According to DoF

In this letter, we investigate the performance analysis of massive MIMO systems using MRT and ZF precodings according to the number of DoF. We analyze the ergodic received SINRs with MRT and ZF precodings as closed-forms over the number of DoF normalized by the number of antennas. In simulation results, we verify the analyzed results and observe that MRT precoding is better than ZF precoding in terms of the ergodic received SINR with a small number of DoF.
Adaptive Transmission Scheme According to the User Location

This paper proposes an adaptive cooperative scheme in the cell boundary. The user location and the suitable cooperative transmission scheme are considered in the proposed scheme. If the user is located in the cell boundary, the quality of communication is degraded. Two base stations are used to obtain diversity in the conventional schemes. But the quality of communication is not sufficiently improved because the user is still distant from the base stations. So, the scheme is proposed that the relays and the adaptive cooperative scheme are used considering the location of the user. By the simulation, it is proved that the proposed scheme is better than the conventional scheme.
Popularity Based Cache Replacement Scheme to Enhance Performance in Content Centric Networks

Unlike an existing IP routing methods, the Content Centric Network(CCN) is new networking paradigm to find the contents by content name. The CCN can effectively process the content requested repeatedly by the user because of the cache which can be storing a content. This paper proposes a popularity based cache replacement scheme. The proposed scheme improves the hit rate better than a existing scheme. Accordingly reducing the load of server and Round Trip Time(RTT).

The SSL/TLS, one of the most popular encryption protocol, was developed as a solution of various network security problem while the network traffic has become complex and diverse. But the SSL/TLS traffic has been identified as its protocol name, not its used services, which is required for the effective network traffic management. This paper proposes a new method to generate service signatures automatically from SSL/TLS payload data and to classify network traffic in accordance with their application services. We utilize the certificate publication information field in the certificate exchanging record of SSL/TLS traffic for the service signatures, which occurs when SSL/TLS performs Handshaking before encrypt transmission. We proved the performance and feasibility of the proposed method by experimental result that classify about 95% SSL/TLS traffic with 95% accuracy for every SSL/TLS services.
Design and Implementation of High-Speed Pattern Matcher Using Multi-Entry Simultaneous Comparator in Network Intrusion Detection System

This paper proposes a new pattern matching module to overcome the increased runtime of previous algorithm using RAM, which was designed to overcome cost limitation of hash-based algorithm using CAM (Content Addressable Memory). By adopting Merge FSM algorithm to reduce the number of state, the proposed module contains state block and entry block to use in RAM. In the proposed module, one input string is compared with multiple entry strings simultaneously using entry block. The effectiveness of the proposed pattern matching unit is verified by executing Snort 2.9 rule set. Experimental results show that the number of memory reads has decreased by 15.8%, throughput has increased by 47.1%, while memory usage has increased by 2.6%, when compared to previous methods.

Bluetooth Low Energy (Bluetooth LE) is a representative break-through communication technology for wireless personal area networks on nowaday. In this environment, most of significant performance should be aiming to energy efficiency due to the policy for manufacturing light-weighted communication devices derived from requirement of world IoT market, and many researches have been developed to satisfy this requirement. While Bluetooth LE has been leading the low power communication technology required from the current market by employing duty cycle and frequency hopping approaches, it couldn't address the problem of reliability on broadcast transmissions. The main goal of this paper is aiming to addressing this problem by suggesting a new method. Furthermore analytic evaluations would also be proceeded to find objective results in the view point of broadcast transmission efficiency from Master device.
Channel-Hopping Scheme for Enhancing Fairness Performance under Smart Jammer Attacks in Tactical WLANs

In tactical wireless local area networks, jamming attack can easily occur by sending out continuous radio signals. The damage will be serious when the channel frequency is identical. Since wireless channel environment is open to everyone, the perfect solution for jamming attack does not exist. However, a channel-hopping scheme is well known for mitigating those jamming attacks. In this paper, I consider various channel-hopping schemes in order to analyze the throughput and fairness performance under smart jammer attack. Also an analytical model is introduced to evaluate the throughput performances of channel-hopping schemes. After analyzing well known channel-hopping schemes, I propose a simple channel-hopping scheme that can enhance fairness significantly at minimal throughput degradation expense.
Efficient Computing Method for Location-Based Density of Mobile Node

Location-based density information of mobile node could be used well in various, new and expanding areas such as location-based services, internet of things, smart grid technologies, and intelligent building. In general, receiving mobile nodes of a wireless mobile node depend on the maximum communication range of transmitting mobile node. In this paper, efficient computing method for mobile node using Delaunay triangulation is proposed, which is irrespective of mobile node's maximum communication range and reflect relative location in a given situation. Proposed method may be good used to find out the density of network constructed by various max communication range devices as Internet of Things. This method suggested in this paper could work well for location-based services, internet of things, smart grid technologies, and intelligent building.
Bio-Inspired Routing Protocol for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks

Bio-inspired routing protocol uses a principle of swarm intelligence, which finds the optimal path to the destination in a distributed and autonomous way in dynamic environments, so that it can maximize routing performances, reduce control overhead, and recover a path failure quickly according to the change of network topology. In this paper, we propose a bio-inspired routing protocol for mobile ad hoc networks. The proposed scheme uses a function of overhearing via wireless media in order to obtain the routing information without additional overhead. Through overhearing, the pheromone is diffused around the shortest path between the source and destination. Based on this diffused pheromone, a probabilistic path exploration is executed and the useful alternative routes between the source and destination are collected. Therefore, the proposed routing protocol can ensure the up-to-date routing information while reducing the control overhead. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme outperforms the typical AODV and AntHocNet protocols in terms of routing performances and significantly decreases the routing overhead against the AntHocNet.
Dynamic Power Management Method Considering VBR Video Traffic in Wi-Fi Direct

Recently Wi-Fi Alliance defined Wi-Fi direct, which can communicate through a direct connection between the mobile device anytime, anywhere. In Wi-Fi direct, all devices are categorized by group of owner (GO) and client. Since portability is emphasized in Wi-Fi direct devices, it is essential to control the energy consumption of a device very efficiently. In order to avoid unnecessary power consumed by GO, Wi-Fi direct standard defines two power management schemes: Opportunistic power saving scheme and Notice Of Absence (NOA) scheme. But, these two schemes do not consider the traffic pattern, so we cannot expect high energy efficiency. In this paper, we suggest an algorithm to enhance the energy efficiency of Wi-Fi direct power saving, considering the characteristics of multimedia video traffic. Proposed algorithm utilizes the statistical distribution for the size of video frames and adjusts the length of awake interval dynamically. Also, considering the inter-dependency among video frames, the proposed algorithm assigns priorities to video frames and ensures that a video frame with high priority is transmitted with higher probability than other frames with low priority. Simulation results shows that the proposed method outperforms the traditional NOA in terms with average delay and energy efficiency.
Autonomous Load Balancing Method in a Wireless Network Inspired by Synchronization Phenomena in the Nature

Inspired by the synchronization phenomena observed in the Nature, we propose an autonomous load balancing method for a wireless network. We model the load balancing problem of cells providing wireless access services as a synchronization problem in the Nature and design an algorithm for each cell to distribute loads in a self-determining way based on the load differences among its neighbor cells. Through simulations, we verify the feasibility of the proposed method in that cell loads can be balanced efficiently eve if cells make decision autonomously using their local information.
Relations between ICT and Productivity: An Empirical Analysis on SMEs in Korea

The purpose of this study is to analyze the relations of innovation and productivity following the introduction of ICT and the effects in the process of innovative investments activity-innovation-productivity, not only by finding causes and effects. For this purpose we conducted surveys of SMEs classified into 7 categories by type of business. To put it concretely, this study was performed to find out the foactors which allow companies to secure competitiveness by enhancing of innovative measures through ICT, and to further analyze the political implications for the development of small and medium-size business by conducting an empirical analysis of the process, from the determination of innovative investments all the way through to production. Analysis model used CDM model using econometric methods such as multiple regression analysis and multinominal logit analysis to produce results. Also we established and analyzed models of innovation investment determinants, innovation determinants and productivity determinants to analyze specifically the relations between ICT and productivity.
Vehicular Cooperative Navigation Based on H-SPAWN Using GNSS, Vision, and Radar Sensors

In this paper, we propose a vehicular cooperative navigation system using GNSS, vision sensor and radar sensor that are frequently used in mass-produced cars. The proposed cooperative vehicular navigation system is a variant of the Hybrid-Sum Product Algorithm over Wireless Network (H-SPAWN), where we use vision and radar sensors instead of radio ranging(i.e.,UWB). The performance is compared and analyzed with respect to the sensors, especially the position estimation error decreased about fifty percent when using radar compared to vision and radio ranging. In conclusion, the proposed system with these popular sensors can improve position accuracy compared to conventional cooperative navigation system(i.e.,H-SPAWN) and decrease implementation costs.
GIS Based Advanced Positioning Technique for Mobile GPS

GIS(Geographic Information System) based Positioning technique uses geographic information to predict which satellites are visible or invisible. GPS positioning has poor positioning accuracy in dense urban area where tall buildings block the satellite signals. In this paper, we proposed GIS based Advanced Positioning technique of Mobile GPS to resolve this problem. Particularly, this technique improves positioning accuracy in dense urban area. It is consist of ephemeris and GIS server. We will inversely estimate pseudorange by using NMEA-0183 output data of mobile GPS. After that, we can find more accurate position by using ephemeris and GIS information.
An Illumination-Insensitive Stereo Matching Scheme Based on Weighted Mutual Information

In this paper, we propose a method which infers an accurate disparity map for radiometrically varying stereo images. For this end, firstly, we transform the input color images to the log-chromaticity color space from which a linear relationship can be established during constructing a joint pdf between input stereo images. Based on this linear property, we present a new stereo matching cost by combining weighted mutual information and the SIFT (Scale Invariant Feature Transform) descriptor with segment-based plane-fitting constraints to robustly find correspondences for stereo image pairs which undergo radiometric variations. Experimental results show that our method outperforms previous methods and produces accurate disparity maps even for stereo images with severe radiometric differences.
Probabilistic Graph Based Object Category Recognition Using the Context of Object-Action Interaction

The use of human actions as context for object class recognition is quite effective in enhancing the recognition performance despite the large variation in the appearance of objects. We propose an efficient method that integrates human action information into object class recognition using a Bayesian appraoch based on a simple probabilistic graph model. The experiment shows that by using human actions ac context information we can improve the performance of the object calss recognition from 8% to 28%.
On-Road Car Detection System Using VD-GMM 2.0

This paper presents a vehicle detection system using the video as a input image what has moving of vehicles.. Input image has constraints. it has to get fixed view and downward view obliquely from top of the road. Road detection is required to use only the road area in the input image. In introduction, we suggest the experiment result and the critical point of motion history image extraction method, SIFT(Scale_Invariant Feature Transform) algorithm and histogram analysis to detect vehicles. To solve these problem, we propose using applied Gaussian Mixture Model(GMM) that is the Vehicle Detection GMM(VDGMM). In addition, we optimize VDGMM to detect vehicles more and named VDGMM 2.0. In result of experiment, each precision, recall and F1 rate is 9%, 53%, 15% for GMM without road detection and 85%, 77%, 80% for VDGMM2.0 with road detection.
3D Beamforming Techniques in Multi-Cell MISO Downlink Active Antenna Systems for Large Data Transmission

In this paper, we provide a new approach which optimizes the vertical tilting angle of the base station for multi-cell multiple-input single-output (MISO) downlink active antenna systems (AAS). Instead of the conventional optimal algorithm which requires an exhaustive search, we propose simple and near optimal algorithms. First, we represent a large system approximation based vertical beamforming algorithm which is applied to the average sum rate by using the random matrix theory. Next, we suggest a signal-to-leakage-and-noise ratio (SLNR) based vertical beamforming algorithm which simplifies the optimization problem considerably. In the simulation results, we demonstrate that the performance of the proposed algorithms is near close to the exhaustive search algorithm with substantially reduced complexity.
Dynamic Spectrum Sensing and Channel Access Mechanism in Frequency Hopping Based Cognitive Radio Ad-hoc Networks

Frequency resource value is growing more and more with the development of the wireless communication. With the advent of the current information society comes a serious shortage of frequency resource, as the amount of supply is far from meeting its demands. Thus, cognitive radio (CR) technique is receiving more attention as a way to make use of the temporarily unoccupied frequency resource. In this paper we propose a novel out-of-band spectrum sensing and dynamic channel access scheme for frequency hopping-based cognitive radio ad-hoc networks. At the beginning of each current channel hopping time, member nodes perform spectrum sensing for the next hopping channel. Based on the proposed collision free primary detection notification, member nodes can determine whether they should execute a hopping time extension procedure of the current channel or not. When the primary detected hopping channel is re-idled, the hopping pattern recovery procedure is performed. In this paper we evaluated the performance of the proposed dynamic sensing and hopping channel extension mechanism for the various wireless network conditions. As a result, we show that the proposed method can increase channel utilization and provide reliable channel management operation.
