Centralized mmWave-Based Multi-Spot Beam Cellular System

In this paper, a centralized mmWave-based multi-spot beam cellular system architecture having such a base station equipped with a plurality of beam-forming antennas, multi-layered dynamic cell configuration method as one of key concepts of this system operation and a mobility management method based on it are introduced. To estimate the performance of new system, system simulation was performed under the ideal environment without blockage. These results show the possibility that system capacity can be dramatically increased and mobility performance similar to the existing cellular system may be achieved.
RFID Distance Bounding Protocol to Secure Against Relay Attack by Using Full-Response

We propose a RFID distance bounding protocol that RFID tag still responds when reader sends a void challenge in order to reduce the probability of a relay attack. We analyze the success probability of relay attack depending on the full challenge ratio. Our experimental results show that our protocol is secure to relay attack.
Transmission Diversity Scheme Using Antenna Array of Small Cell

This paper proposes a method providing diversity gain using small base stations in a cell coverage in order to improve diversity gain. The small base stations and the conventional base station consist a virtual MIMO array by using the cooperative communication scheme. Also, transmission diversity scheme is applied. A mobile user can receive the signals having the improved reliability by the applied transmission diversity scheme and the cooperative communication scheme.
BER Analysis of Coherent Free-Space Optical Systems with Pulsed Noise Jamming

In this letter, we investigate the performance of coherent free-space optical(FSO) systems under pulsed noise jamming conditions. In particular, we derive the average bit error probability of the coherent FSO systems with the pulsed noise jamming in a closed-form. Also, we derive the optimal fraction of symbol time of the jammer. We confirm the derived average error probability expressions by the exactly matching Monte-Carlo simulation results.
Design of Fluctuation Function to Improve BER Performance of Data Hiding in Encrypted Image

Reversible data hiding is a technique to hide any data without affecting the original image. Zhang proposed the encryption of original image and a data hiding scheme in encrypted image. First, the encrypted image is decrypted and uses the fluctuation function which exploits the spatial correlation property of decrypted image to extract hidden data. In this paper, the new fluctuation function is proposed to reduce errors which arise from the process extracting hidden data and the performance is verified by simulation.
Classification of Feature Points Required for Multi-Frame Based Building Recognition

The extraction of significant feature points from a video is directly associated with the suggested method`s function. In particular, the occlusion regions in trees or people, or feature points extracted from the background and not from objects such as the sky or mountains are insignificant and can become the cause of undermined matching or recognition function. This paper classifies the feature points required for building recognition by using multi-frames in order to improve the recognition function(algorithm). First, through SIFT(scale invariant feature transform), the primary feature points are extracted and the mismatching feature points are removed. To categorize the feature points in occlusion regions, RANSAC(random sample consensus) is applied. Since the classified feature points were acquired through the matching method, for one feature point there are multiple descriptors and therefore a process that compiles all of them is also suggested. Experiments have verified that the suggested method is competent in its algorithm.
Lane Departure Warning System with Single Lane Mark

A lane departure warning system based on single lane mark detection is presented in this paper. The proposed system is focused on the robust detection of lane departure, even when one of the left or the right lane mark cannot be detected because of poor illumination or abrasion. Experimental results show that the proposed system warns lane departure, even if only a single lane is detected.
Performance Analysis of In-Band Full-duplex Communication Systems with Self-Interference Cancellation

In this paper, we analyze performances of in-band full-duplex communication system and self-interference (SI) suppression methods in environment where there exists the SI signal. The SI has to be removed to achieve required error rate performance of the system in order - propagation domain, analog domain and digital domain. In propagation domain, the SI signal is attenuated by separating transmitted and received beams physically. In analog and digital domain, after reconstruction of the SI signal using channel estimates and transmit signal, the SI signal can be cancelled from the desired signal. In this paper, assuming that the SI signal can be sufficiently reduced in propagation domain, we demonstrate that the in-band full-duplex communication system can achieve the target error rate by suppressing the SI signal in order - analog and digital domain, based on channel estimates that can be obtained by the method of Least squares.
Design of Reassembly Unit Modular Wearable Device

Wearable Device has various constraint about battery power consumption, size, weight, etc, because the devices is worn and operated by person and provide services. So, if a device includes too many functions, it dose not satisfies the constraint and lose price competitiveness due to become expensive. Therefore we suggest that make reassembly Unit Modular Device witch has common used functions in wearable devices and user can receive various services to reassemble Unit Modules. It is comprised of frames and modules. Each module has various functions. Each frames help module to communicate each modules. To realize this device, we design to guarantee each services to use necessary modules, to give priority to modules depending on the important of the task, to set that does not use to low energy mode.
Software Architecture of a Wearable Device to Measure User`s Vital Signal Depending on the Behavior Recognition

The paper presents a software architecture for a wearable device to measure vital signs with the real-time user`s behavior recognition. Taking vital signs with a wearable device help user measuring health state related to their behavior because a wearable device is worn in daily life. Especially, when the user is running or sleeping, oxygen saturation and heart rate are used to diagnose a respiratory problems. However, in measuring vital signs, continuosly measuring like the conventional method is not reasonable because motion artifact could decrease the accuracy of vital signs. And in order to fix the distortion, a complex algorithm is not appropriate because of the limited resources of the wearable device. In this paper, we proposed the software architecture for wearable device using a simple filter and the acceleration sensor to recognize the user`s behavior and measure accurate vital signs with the behavior state.
Implementation of Switched Digital Video Using Convergence Transmission of Broadcasting and Communication on Cable TV Broadcasting Network

As cable TV networks have a media feature that is a broadband wire network, they can provide not only TV broadcasting services but also communication services. Accordingly, the cable TV network is mentioned as the optimal network for convergence of broadcasting and communication services. Recently, Available frequencies of the cable TV network have become insufficient as enhancement of video quality, increment of VoD service, and growth of high-speed internet service. This paper presents a new implementation method of switched digital video (SDV) technology that is introduced for obtaining additional frequency band. In the SDV system, only TV channels requested from viewer are sent and non-requested channels are dropped. The presented SDV uses a sharing method of TV broadcasting and communication service in a same frequency band. This method shows increase of spectrum efficient from switching of TV service channels without building a complex system.
Performance Improvement of FMT-OFDM System in Underwater Channel Environment

Recently, There are increasing number of studies that apply multi-carrier method, a land mobile communication method, to underwater channel environment in order to enhance the performance of underwater communication. Therefore, in this paper, in order to design a new system with improved communication performance compared to the multi-carrier method in underwater communication, we present that the RS(Resource Spreading) FMT-OFDM system has a diversity and repetition effect from resource spreading. Moreover, we verify the performance of RS FMT-OFDM system and existing FMT-OFDM system through simulations after modeling communication channels and setting the system parameter based on the data measured from the real sea. Our result indicate that, compared to the existing FMT-OFDM system, there has been an improvement in communication performance by 12dB based on BER
we also discovered that communication performance improves as the resource spreading rate increases.
Maritime Navigation to Aid Costal Sailing of Small-Size Ship

We have studied on the maritime navigation with functions of navigation route search and maritime safety information for small-size fishery ships, fishing boats, yachts, and boats in coastal seas. We have designed a smart phone application which is more exact information on marine obstacles of islands, aquafarms, and rocks by using land navigation techniques. Our navigation system is relatively easy to be used for costal navigation and may be a substitute for expensive ECDIS(Electronic Chart Display and Information System). Our system consists of maritime navigation databases to manage necessary maritime data and a mobile application to support maritime navigation for operators. We believe that our research findings can improve safety navigation in coastal seas by supporting lower cost, no time-consuming installation and maintenance, and easy-to-use operations.
