Sufficient Conditions for the Existence of an (n, 1) Mother Code and Its Puncturing Pattern to Generating a Given Convolutional Code

Puncturing is the most common way of increasing the rate of convolutional codes. The puncturing process is done to the original code called the mother code by a specific puncturing pattern. In this article, we investigate into the question whether any convolutional code is obtainable by puncturing some (n, 1) mother codes. We present two sufficient conditions for the mother code and the puncturing pattern to satisfy in order that the punctured code is equivalent to the given (N, K) convolutional code.
Stereo Matching Using Distance Trasnform and 1D Array Kernel

A stereo matching method is one of the ways to obtain a depth value from two dimensional images. This method estimates the depth value of target images using stereo images which have two different viewpoints. In the result of stereo matching, the depth value is represented by a disparity value. The disparity means a distance difference between a current pixel in one side of stereo images and its corresponding point in the other side of stereo images. The stereo matching in a homogeneous region is always difficult to find corresponding points because there are no textures in that region. In this paper, we propose a novel matching equation using the distance transform to estimate accurate disparity values in the homogeneous region. The distance transform calculates pixel distances from the edge region. For this reason, pixels in the homogeneous region have specific values when we apply this transform to pixels in that region. Therefore, the stereo matching method using the distance transform improves the matching accuracy in the homogeneous regions. In addition, we also propose an adaptive matching cost computation using a kernel of one dimensional array depending on the characteristic of regions in the image. In order to aggregate the matching cost, we apply a cross-scale cost aggregation method to our proposed method. As a result, the proposed method has a lower average error rate than that of the conventional method in all regions.
Multi-Cell Search Scheme for Heterogeneous Networks

This paper introduces a multi-cell search method for heterogeneous networks (HetNet), in which user equipments need to search multiple cells in its vicinity simultaneously. Due to the difficulty of acquiring channel informations for multiple cells, a non-coherent approach is preferred. In this paper, a non-coherent single-cell search scheme using a weighted vector is proposed, and the successive interference cancellation based multi-cell search algorithm is devised. In order to improve cell search performance, the weighted vector is designed in a way to exploit the general characteristic of wireless channel. Based on the fact that the performance of the proposed single-cell search scheme deviates slowly from the one using the optimal weighted vector, a universal weighted vector is also proposed, which shows the performance close to the optimal ones for various channel environments and signal-to-noise ratio regimes. Simulation results confirm that the proposed multi-cell search algorithm is capable of identifying cells more accurately with the help of the proposed single-cell search scheme, and can detect the remaining cells more effectively by removing the signals of the identified cells from the received signal.
Generalized Quaternary Quasi-Orthogonal Sequences Spatial Modulation

So called quaternary quasi-orthogonal sequence spatial modulation (Q-QOS-SM) has been presented with an advantage of improved throughputs compared to the conventional SM and generalized spatial modulation (GSM) by virtue of a larger set size of QOSs and its minimized correlation value between these QOSs. However the Q-QOS-SM has been originally invented for limited transmit antennas of only powers of two. In this paper, by extending the Q-QOS-SM to any number of transmit antennas, we propose a generalized Q-QOS-SM, referred as G-QO-SM. Unlike the conventional Q-QOS-SM using the Q-QOSs of length of any power of two, the proposed G-QO-SM is constructed based on the Q-QOSs of only the lengths of 2 and 4. The proposed scheme guarantees the transmission of the total
spatial bits with
transmit antennas, and thus achieves greatly higher throughputs than the other existing schemes including the SM, GSM, Q-QOS-SM, Quadrature-SM, and Enhanced-SM. The performance improvements of the proposed G-QO-SM is justified by comparing the analytically derived BER upper bounds and also the exact Monte Carlo simulation results.
BER Performance Comparison and Evaluation of 5G Candidate Waveforms Based on DFT Spreading under the Nonlinear HPA

High PAPR (Peak-to-Average Power Ratio) characteristic causes some problems like system performance degradation and OOB (Out-of-Band) power increasement under the HPA (High Power Amplifier) nonlinearity condition. UFMC (Universal Filtered Multi-Carrier) and FBMC (Filter Bank Multi-Carrier) are regarded as 5G(Generation) candidate waveforms. In this paper, we evaluate and analyze performance of these systems with DFT-s (Discrete Fourier Transform Spreading) technique under the nonlinear HPA environment. In this paper, we describe OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing), UFMC, FBMC, DFT-s-OFDM, DFT-s-UFMC, and DFT-s-FBMC system, and evaluate BER (Bit Error Rate) performance of these systems. As simulation results, BER performance degradation by HPA nonlinearity of DFT-s-OFDM and DFT-s-UFMC is greatly overcome by DFT spreading technique. However, BER performance degradation by HPA nonlinearity of DFT-s-FBMC system is little overcome.
Frame Synchronization Method for Distributed MIMO Terrestrial Broadcasting Systems

World`s leading countries are developing next generation digital broadcasting system specifications to support UHDTV (ultra-high definition television) contents and other various services. In order to maximize the transmission capacity by using the bandwidth efficiently, most broadcasting systems adopt MIMO-OFDM. In distributed-MIMO systems, multiple transmit antennas are spatially separated and therefore result in multiple timing offsets. To overcome this problem, this paper proposes a technique using a null symbol to detect each individual signal from distributed transmit antennas. By inserting null symbols before preambles, the receiver can distinguish the signals between each transmit antennas and perform frame synchronization. When the reception time difference is shorter than 500 samples, the proposed method outperforms the conventional method.
Network Coding-Based Information Sharing Strategy for Reducing Energy Consumption in IoT Environments

This paper proposes a method of minimizing total energy consumption of IoT environment when communication devices in the network share the information directly. The proposed method reduces total number of transmission for the information sharing by using an effective network coding-based technique which dynamically selects a node and a data packet for each transmission. Simulation results show that the proposed method has better performance than an existing network coding-based method selecting transmission node in fixed order, a network coding-based method selecting transmission node in random order, and a uncoded method selecting transmission node in random order.
Ad Hoc Routing Method Based on Betweenness Centrality and Location Information for Unmanned Ground System Networks

Wireless multi-hop communication is one of the key technologies to operate Unmanned Ground System (UGS) networks efficiently. Conventionally a lot of routing protocol has been developed and studied for multi-hop networks like Mobile Ad-hoc Network (MANET). However, the routing protocol for the unique environment of the UGS requires further studies, since conventional routing protocols cannot be used itself for UGS networks. In this paper, we propose the Betweenness Centrality based Geographic Routing (BCGR) which considers the main function of UGS. BCGR utilizes expanded ego betweenness centrality, mobility and location information error, respectively. We have conducted a simulation study for evaluating the performance of the BCGR using ns-3, and our simulation results show that BCGR outperforms the conventional routing protocols such as AODV and GPSR in terms of end-to-end transmission reliability, throughput and delay.
Load Balance System for the SFC Based DLP solution

In this paper, we propose a Load Balance System for SFC based on DLP solution. SFC based on DLP solution does not distribute to the user data and each DLP server manages all traffic generated by the user device. When using existing algorithms such as the Load Balance Round Robin, Least Connection does not consider the resource usage of DLP server so traffic is not efficiently distributed due to different user traffic usage. It causes system failure and overload of the DLP server. Therefore, we propose the architecture of a Load Balance system for SFC based on DLP solution to perform the Load Balance based on the resource usage of DLP server through a LBM server in this paper.
Algorithm of Optical Camera Communications Using Rolling-Shutter Effect

Unlike conventional visible light communications (VLC) adopting photo detectors (PD), optical camera communications (OCC) employs cameras in detecting the transmitted data. Especially, the data rate of OCC can be enhanced by using the principle of rolling-shutter, which is the operating scheme of a CMOS image sensor. In this study, we consider a novel OCC system for high-speed real time video processing to transmit high speed data from LED and to acquire image utilizing rolling-shutter effect of CMOS image sensor. Also, we demonstrate the improved performance of proposed system using a test-bed.
Wireless Control System Using Spherical Camera

In this paper, a capsule body shaped surveillance/monitoring device is developed. The device includes a camera and GPS module to transmit live video data and real time GPS coordinates respectively using the Intel Edison module. A control application is developed for the smart phones and tablets to wirelessly view the live video stream and location of the capsule device and also to switch between the multiple capsule devices installed at different locations. The coordination between the developed device and the smart phone / tablet is done using the wireless function of the Intel Edison module.
Optimal Positioning of the Base Stations in PS-LTE Systems

In this paper, we try to find the optimal locations of NeNB(Nomadic evolved NodeB)s for maximizing the overall throughput of the PS-LTE networks. Since finding optimal locations of all NeNBs in a given area is NP-hard(Non-deterministic Polynomial time-hard) problem, we proposed a PSO-based heuristic approach. In order to evaluate the performance, we conducted two experiments. We compared performance with other schemes such as Exhaustive Search, Random Walk Search, and locating neighboring NeNBs with the same NeNB-to-NeNB distance. The proposed method showed the similar results to the exhaustive search method in terms of locating optimal position and user`s data throughput. The proposed method, however, has the fast and consistent convergence time.
Key Derivation Functions Using the Dual Key Agreement Based on QKD and RSA Cryptosystem

For a secure communication system, it is necessary to use secure cryptographic algorithms and keys. Modern cryptographic system generates high entropy encryption key through standard key derivation functions. Using recent progress in quantum key distribution(QKD) based on quantum physics, it is expected that we can enhance the security of modern cryptosystem. In this respect, the study on the dual key agreement is required, which combines quantum and modern cryptography. In this paper, we propose two key derivation functions using dual key agreement based on QKD and RSA cryptographic system. Furthermore, we demonstrate several simulations that estimate entropy of derived key so as to support the design rationale of our key derivation functions.
Prediction Model for Deviant Hacking Behavior and Hacking Type in Hackers Based on Psychological Variable

Despite the extant quantum communication technology that does not allow copying, wiretapping, and/or monitoring, cyber-terror-attempts from hackers with unconscientious purposes and motives are prospected to persist. Hence, it is imperative and necessary to invest in studies geared toward understanding the psychology of hackers. The current study referred to Beebe & Clark (2006) and sought out the psychological variables in hackers involved in deviant hacking activities, measured the purpose of hacking and actual hacking experiences, and constructed a predictive model that can categorize hacker types based on their intentions.
