Prediction of Deformation of Shear Reinforcement and Shear Crack Width of Reinforced Concrete Members using Truss Models

This paper predicted the shear deformation, such as strain of shear reinforcement and shear track width, of reinforced concrete (RC) members using Transformation Angle Truss Model (TATM) in order to apply to the shea, analysis of RC buildings. To check the validity of TATM for the shear deformation of RC beams, four RC beams with different shear span-to-depth ratios were cast, instrumented and tested. Observed results were compared with theoretical results by MCFT(Response-2000), RA-STM, FA-STM, and TATM. The proposed model, TATM, better predicted the relationships of the shear stress-strain of shear reinforcement and the shear stress-shear track width than other truss models.
An Experimental Study on the Behaviours of Reinforced Concrete Beam with Openning

Many researches have been conducted to describe the structural behaviour of reinforced concrete beams with openings, and were generally concentrated on the shear behaviours. The objective of this paper is to study the shear and bending capacities of RC beams with openning. In experimental study, a total of seven RC beam with circular opennings under monotonic loading conditions were investigated. The parameters used in this study include the openning size and the existence of re-bar.
The Static Unstable Characteristics of Tensegrity-Type Cable Dome according to the Structural System

A shell structure, having a curvature with a curved surface, is an extremely efficient mechanical creation regard to the external load. A basic structural resistance mechanism is the structural system, which is resisted the out-of-plane direction load by in-plane forces using the structure's curvature. Therefore, it has a merit to make thin and lightweight large spacial structures using minimum materials. Among the large spare structural system, the rapid development of the membrane structures, cable structures and the hybrid structures are watched recently. But, this kind of structural system shows the unstable phenomenon by snap-through or bifurcation according to the shape of structure, and the understanding of the collapse mechanism by this phenomenon is very important to the design process. In this study, I investigated the unstable characteristics of the Geiger-type, Zetlin-type and flower-type hybrid cable dome structures, which is the lightweight hybrid structures using compression and tension elements continuously, according to the difference of structural system.
A Study on Stiffness-based Optimal Design of Tall Plane Frameworks using Composite Member

This study presents an effective stiffness-based optimal technique to control quantitatively lateral drift for tall frameworks using composit member subject to lateral loads. To this end, displacement sensitivity depending on behavior characteristics of tall frameworks is established and approximation concept that preserves the generality of the mathematical programming and can efficiently solve large scale problems is introduced. Specifically, under the 'constant-shape' assumption, resizing techniqe of composite member is developed. Two types of 50 story frameworks are presented to illustrate the features of the quantitative lateral drift control technique proposed in this study.
An Experimental Study on the Strengtheing Effect of Reinforced Concrete Beams Strengthened by CFRP Rod

Rehabilitations of reinforced concrete(RC) structures using advanced fibre-reinfored plastic(FRP) composites has become very popular in last few years. Typical method of strengthening strategy using FRP composite is bonding the CFRP plate or sheet on the surface of existing concrete structures. Many researches, however, have shown that bonding FRP plate or sheet on the surface of concrete has tendancy to debond prematurely induced by stress concentrations at the end of the plate. In order for overcoming the premature failure, the filling-up method which places FRP-rod into the existing concrete sawing groove has been developed. Through filling-up test results, aims of this research is to investigate the efficiencies of the filling-up method and is to determine the availabilities of traditional flexural theories that has provided all over the world.
The Development and Historical Character for Structure System with Non-rigid Member

Structural systems have a lot of architectural meaning concerning historical context of structural technology. Therefore, surveying constructed examples and their constructed year, the character and development of various formations of structure systems with non-rigid member were investigated. At the result, the early modem structure systems with non-rigid member were made up from the cable structures, then membrane structures have mainly used after 1970's. The early structural systems had intended to make the large scale space, after 1970's, they have been adopted into the smaller scale space structure, and cable net structure, pneumatic structure and dome typed hybrid membrane system tend to compose the larger scale spare structure.
A Study on the Stability Boundaries for Single Layer Latticed Domes and Arch under Combined Loads

The lowest load when the equilibrium condition becomes to be unstable is defined as the buckling load. The primary objective of this paper is to be analyse stability boundaries for star dome under combined loads and is to investigate the iteration diagram under the independent loading parameter. In numerical procedure of the geometrically nonlinear problems, Arc Length Method and Newton-Raphson iteration method is used to find accurate critical point(bifurcation point and limit point). In this paper independent loading vector is combined as proportional value and star dome was used as numerical analysis model to find stability boundary among load parameters and many other models as multi-star dome and arch were studied. Through this study we can find the type of buckling mode and the value of buckling load.
