Inelastic Nonlinear Analysis of Plane Truss Structures Using Arc-Length Method

Spatial structure is an appropriate shape that resists external force only with in-plane forte by reducing the influence of bending moment, and it maximizes the effectiveness of structure system. the spatial structure should be analyzed by nonlinear analysis regardless static and dynamic analysis because it accompanys large deflection for member. To analyze the spatial structure geometrical and material nonlinearity should be considered in the analysis. In this paper, a geometrically nonlinear finite element model for plane truss structures is developed, and material nonlinearity is also included in the analysis. Arc-length method is used to solve the nonlinear finite element model. It is found that the present analysis predicts accurate nonlinear behavior of plane truss.
Multi-objective Optimization for Force Design of Tensegrity Structures

A multi-objective optimization approach is presented for force design of tensegrity structures. The geometry of the structure is given a priori. The design variables are the member forces, and the objective functions are the lowest eigenvalue of the tangent stiffness matrix that is to be maximized, and the deviation of the member forces from the target values that is to be minimized. The multi-objective programming problem is converted to a series of single-objective programming problems by using the constraint approach. A set of Pareto optimal solutions are generated for a tensegrity grid to demonstrate the validity of the proposed method.
Response Spectrum Analysis of Floor Structure Subjected to Group Dynamic Loads

In general, the response spectrum analysis(RSA) method is wifely used for seismic analysis of building structures, and the time history analysis(THA) is applied for computation of structural vibration caused by equipments, machines and moving loads, etc. However, compared with the RSA method, the THA method is very complex, difficult and time consuming. In this study, the maximum responses for the vertical vibration are calculated conveniently by the RSA method. At first, the process for the RSA in excitation is proposed, and the maximum modal responses are combined by CQC and SRSS methods. Also, the responses obtained by the two modal combination methods are compared to the responses by the THA. And the correlation coefficients for human activities is proposed, and the RSA responses obtained by used to the correlation coefficients are calculated. Finally, results of the proposed method are compared with those of the time history analysis and correlation coefficients should be considered for the RSA of floor structure subjected to group dynamic loads.
Suggestion of Gust Factor through Field Measurements of High-Rise Buildings

The wind monitoring systems are installed in high-rise buildings to record wind response data. The measured buildings are located in Busan and Sokcho. The measured wind data are analysed in this paper to obtain the mean wind speed and direction, turbulence intensity and gust factor. By using the correlation between gust factor and turbulence intensity, the expression for gust factor based on wind data measured from the building is suggested. The field measurement data obtained here are useful for the validation of wind tunnel tests and the future design of tall building.
The Field Measurement and Analysis of Indoor Thermal Environment in Large Enclosures

This research aims to divide the large enclosures according to summer and winter seasons, and to measure changes in the indoor thermal conditions. Also, with regard to air conditioning and exterior environments, it aims to identify the characteristics of indoor thermal environments such as indoor vertical and horizontal temperature distribution in large enclosures, temperature distribution in the audience's seating, indoor surface temperature distribution, wind speed distribution in the audience's seating, and indoor thermal comfort.
An Experimental Study on the Behavior of Beam-to-Column Joints for Modular Steel Frame

The object of this paper is to evaluate on behavior the experimentally of beam-to-column joints for modular steel frame with the hollow structural steel section to LEB C-shape. Beam-to-column joints carried out test on the joint shape bracket-type and welded-type to consideration which the joints for modular steel frame was capacity, deformation and failure mode. Test of results, the beam-column joints decided to the lateral buckling strength in LEB C-shape regardless of joint-shape and joint failure. The strength & stiffness for joints increase as the bracket-thickness. The results from theory of lateral buckling are compared to the experimental results. The ratio of experimental results to theory value is
