Analysis of Sustainable Building Design Element in Winter Sports Stadia and Convention Centre

This paper is to draw basic data for the revitalization of the sustainable buildings and the improvement of sustainable building design technology in Korea by analysing the design techniques of sustainable building and the application of the techniques applied to the large volume buildings through the study of foreign cases. This study introduces the design elements of sustainable building applied to the two winter sports stadia and one convention centre which have recently completed for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Canada and analyses the design techniques of sustainable building by the lists of LEED Green Building Rating System as well.
Vibration Characteristics of a Three-Story Reinforced Concrete Building Before and After Damage

Dynamic characteristics such as frequency and damping ratio in the ambient state of building has been progressed in domestic and foreign. However, there has not been any deep research of dynamic characteristics of full-scale structure using vibration measurement of the building damaged up to failure. Dynamic characteristics of three-story reinforced concrete building was evaluated before and after it was damaged by using a actuator. Dynamic characteristics is reviewed and compared with previous study. Ambient vibration and human excitation test were applied. After 120mm horizontal displacement by actuator, frequency of long and short direction is reduced to 34.3%, 33.7% and damping ratio is reduced to 36.5%, 19.5% respectively.
Estimation of Cable Damages using Piezo Disk and Optical Fiber Sensors

Presently means of utilizing sensors such as Piezoelectric(PZT) Element for evaluating the affect of oscillator, strain gauge for analyzing physical changes and use of Fiber Bragg Grating(FBG) Sensor are widely practiced in the field. In this study, PZT and FBG sensors were used to tearing damage of cable systems in these sensors. Cable systems are a construction of elements carrying only tension and no compression or bending in membrane structure. But damage detection of cable systems by using existing safety diagnosis is difficult to detect the characteristic change of overall structural action. If cable snaps are occurred to cable release and tear in tension structures, these are set up a vibration. So, we used piezo-electric materials and result of experiment using this was compared with result of experiment using FBG sensors The purpose of this research is to develop of damage detection method of cable system in tensile stress.
Mechanical Characteristic Test of Architectural ETFE Film Membrane

This paper investigates the variation of post-buckling behaviours of spatial structures after sizing optimization with linear assumptions. The mathematical programming technique is used to produce the optimum member size of spatial structures against external load. Total weight of structure is considered as the objective function to be minimized and the displacement occurred at loading point and member stresses of structures are used as the constraint functions. The finite difference method is used to calculate the design sensitivity of objective function with respect to design variables. The post-buckling analysis carried out by using the geometrically nonlinear finite element analysis code ISADO-GN. It is found to be that there is a huge difference between the post buckling behaviours of the initial and optimized structures. Therefore, the stability of optimized spatial structures with linear assumption should be throughly checked by appropriate nonlinear analysis techniques. Finally, the present numerical results are provided as benchmark test suite for future study of large spatial structures.
An Analysis of the Architectural and Urban Space through Practical Issues of Landscape Urbanism

This study tries to feel out the possibility of experimental areas of architecture which is becoming urbanization gradually through practical issues of landscape urbanism. According to this study, it is affirmed that the practical issues of landscape urbanism such as process in time, Potential territoriality of surface, practical methodology and socio-cultural imagination already have rome into the architectural area over urbanism. This is presented as characteristics of detail issues through relational density on the matrix of landscape urbanism, traces of the general landscape concepts and architectural landscapeconcepts. As a result, these practical issues and detail architectural strategies constitute the important spatial characteristics of contemporary architecture.
A Experimental Study on the Compressive Capacity of Circular Section Wood using Synthetic Resins

As interest in latest cultural heritance is increased, an importance about conservation of dilapidated cultural building asset is risen. Most of cultural building asset used wood by main material and conservation repair about corrosion and damage by deterioration of these cultural building asset considers cultural value of member and the basis principle is the archetype maintenance. Accordingly, conservation processing method that use synthetic is embossed. This paper experimented with reinforcement sectional area ratio, direction of section, length, strength of synthetic resins as variable and manufactures total 14 specimens as experimental study about compression reinforcement performance of circular section wood that strengthen by synthetic resins. The result of this paper has shown that adequate strengthen is more efficient than new member and the most important authenticity in strengthen and repair of cultural heritance can be ensured.
