A Study on the Decision-Making Support System in Information Management
Lee, Woo-Bum ;
Journal of Information Management, volume 19, issue 1, 1988, Pages 1~29
The purpose of this study is to investigate a decision making support system for the effective information management. Decision making theory is reviewed and problems are discussed. A model is suggested through the computing of expected monetary value in decision tree technique. The expected monetary value is computed by 1 inking the probability theory with chance node. The selection of right expected monetary value and expected value of perfect information will make great advance the present system. It is concluded that expected monetary value and expected value of perfect information in decision tree techniques will make great aids to advance information management system.
Barcode Systems for Library Applications
Choi, Suk-Doo ;
Journal of Information Management, volume 19, issue 1, 1988, Pages 30~49
To design and implement a barcode system in the process of library automation, a thorough understanding of the elements of a barcode system is essential. This paper is to provide the basic features of barcoding along with discussions of the selection criteria of the symbology, media, printer, operator, scanner, decorder and a methodology of library's approach.
Design for Database of Technical Data Configuration Management System
Kim, Jae-Su ;
Journal of Information Management, volume 19, issue 1, 1988, Pages 50~72
The data base is a basis for the Management Information Systems (MIS) and Technical Data Packages(TDPs) are one of the key factors in the research and development activities. Most research institutes has been developed their own MIS and also MIS for the IDP has been advanced and applied in the various area. However, MIS and it's operation of the drawings and TDPs generated from researches and developments should be developed further more. In this study, we studied on the creation of data base of MIS related to the drawings, specifications and TDPs based on general concepts and priciple of MIS and data base. And finally, mentioned a design of data base consisting of drawing, specifications and related TDPs which are applied to MIS. To help to understand this system, it is presented, that three master files and six variable files were created, as a experimental data base, according to the "TOTAL" of CYBER computer system and two other user programs and it's outputs after computer run. It is expected that results of this study could be useful for TDP MIS enhancement through improvement of this study and new user program development.
A Study on Author Co-citation of Korean Literature
Kim, Suk-Young ;
Journal of Information Management, volume 19, issue 1, 1988, Pages 73~94
Author co-citation analysis with 20 authors from Korean Nutrition Literature were executed. The purpose of this study is to examine the meaning of bibliographic phenomena in Korean literature by co-citation and to approach the intellectural structure of nutrition field in view of multidimensional space. The analysis assumes that the more two author are cited together, the closer the relationship between them. The raw data are co-citation counts from the Korean Journal of Nutrition over the period 1986~1987. The resulting map shows (1) identifiable author groups of nutrition, (2) locations of these groups with respect to each other, (3) the degree of centrality and peripherality of author within groups, (4) the relationship between domestic authors and foreign authors.
The Description Rule of Terms and Characters in Databases
Kim, Tae-Jung ; Lee, Chang-Han ;
Journal of Information Management, volume 19, issue 1, 1988, Pages 95~122
From the lack of common rule for the description of the characters and terms in bibliographic databases, it was hard to share information with other organizations and to obtain relevant bits of information through online retrieval. In this paper, the authors suggest a rule for the transcription of symbols and letters, that are found in articles. but impossible to input through CRT terminals, into the symbols and letters which is capable of input and retrieval. And, in the 'Hangul orthography' and 'Description rule of the borrowed words' which are officially announced by the Ministry of Education, more than two ways are permited for the expression of terms. In that case, to improve retrieval efficiency and to prevent 'confusion in description, they are regulated.
