Telecommunication services are important means of information exchanges in information society, and information of them connotes the enabling of information exchanges through telecommunication services in all parts of the society. This study, on top of a theoretical foundation of the informatization of telecommunication services, examines and analyzes historical and actual conditions of the services, and tries to make some policy recommendations based on the analysis.

This paper introduced Internet totally, which is continuously changing, for the aspect of service-improvement to users. Particulary, the concepts, the features and methods of Gopher, Veronica, Archie, WAIS and WWW which are used broadly in the aspect of information retrieval, have been introduced with command-language in Internet. Among them, this paper intends not only to describe in detail the use of Web-browser's method but also to explain about the search engine which is provided in the large online service on the base of actual experience.
A Study on the Integration of Information Center's Automation Systems

As advanced information technology has been developing rapidly, libraries are moving from an ownership-centered information service toward information access service. Consequently, integrated automation systems of information centers that give not only cataloging information of their own collections but also various electronic information have appeared. In this study, a model of integrated automation system of an information center is suggested in terms of information types and cost, by taking case studies of some domestic and foreign libraries. Furthermore, the MIPOS Information & Resource Center System of POSCO Group is introduced as a good example of integrated automation systems in Korea.
Present Status of Scientific and Technical Information Activities in Russia

This paper outlines recent conditions after the collapse of former Soviet Union and presents activities in eight major information-related organizations including International Center for Scientific and Technical Information, Russian State Central Scientific Medical Library. Russian National Public Library for Science and Technology, All-Russian Institute for Science and Technical Information, Natural Sciences Library of Russian Academy of Sciences, Scientific and Technical Information Center of Russia, Russian State Library and All-Russian Scientific and Research Institute of State Patent Examination. All of these organizations face economic difficulties brought about by financial crisis and inflation as well as shortage of the state budget. In addition, the domestic information processing technology using computers and computer networks is generally inferior to that of developed western countries due to lack of growth of information infrastructure in Russia.
