EVMS Application Process based on Project Management Processes

EVMS(Earned Value Management System) came to the proper method for integrated cost-schedule control and Government announced EVMS application plan. After that, many studies related adaptability, activation, model, and process reflecting the characteristics of the domestic construction industry are proceeded in construction sites and schools. This thesis is a study of EVMS process. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the problems of previous researches for EVMS Process and to suggest the EVMS application Process based on Project Management Processes of PMBOK. In this kind of view, this thesis suggests the new direction to study EVMS process. And furthermore, this process is suggested for showing a framework of EVMS in Korean construction project are identified.
Comprehensive Appraisal of Value Engineering Practices in Domestic Construction Industry

VE(Value Engineering) process and techniques are the systematic managerial tool for value engineers to help conduct VE study effectively. However, There is some difference between VE theory and practice in the domestic construction industry. Specially, function analysis appeared to be poorly recognized and regarded even as unnecessary in construction VE. It is needed to identify and enhance the problem areas to upgrade the VE practice. In order to investigate the current VE practice, a comprehensive literature survey and analysis were performed to obtain the trends and problems, related to the process and techniques. In the VE application of the domestic construction project, the study suggests some ideas and future study areas for the effective VE application in the construction industry.
A Study on the Importance of Risk Factors for Effective Risk Management in the Pre-Project Planning Phase of the Development Projects

The construction market is diversely changing because social environmental factors are rapidly transforming. Therefore, Construction projects are becoming complex and diverse. Furthermore, the risk being inherent in construction projects are increasing, and now people are considering about the risk management of construction projects in successfully handling the risk factor. The purpose of this study is first to comprehend the preparation of basic references for objective and systematic identification, categorization, and analysis of risk. Secondly it is to find the principle elements within the risk factors identified and categorized around planning process. Finally it is to manage objectively on the planning process, which forms a lot of uncertainty, in order to accentuate the importance about the risk of pre-planning process stage
Development of CITIS Model and Analysis of Its functionality as a Collaborative Virtual Factory for Construction Projects

Korea government is making an effort to improve the efficiency in construction industry by introducing CITIS (Contractor integrated Technical Information Service). In order to provide a base for the application of CITIS into the construction industry, this research provides a concept of virtual factory which should be incorporated into CITIS system for the successful collaborative work in the virtual space. It then implements a prototype system through process and data modeling to apply into the road construction projects. The prototype system is tested to verify its efficiency. Finally, lesson learned from these works is provided to advance the current CITIS toward a collaborative virtual factory.
A Study on the Establishment Plan of Integrated Construction Information Classification

It was few to the integrated information classification system In domestic construction. Furthermore, it became considerable obstacles to hamper the increase of national competitiveness as well the hoarding of information and overlapped investment. The standardization of information classification is also necessary prior to the Computer-Integrated Construction, CALS(Continuous Acquisition & Life-cycle Support/Electronic Commerce) in construction, EVMS(Earned Value Management System) and the various projects which manipulate construction information. Therefore, this report suggests the development direction and application proposal of Integrated Construction Information Classification.
A Study on the Improvement of Management of Historical Data in Construction

The processes for management of historical data in construction have many problems according to construction firm
participating in some of the processes. This study analyzed about current process and provided improved processes with IDEF method and simulation. The proposed
model is more effective than
model according to the result of simulation performance. It is revealed that the productivity in the construction company is more improved than that of the owner from the results of the system simulation.
A Study on the Electronic Processing of Bidding Business for Public Procurement in Construction Industry

Traditional bidding process and activities in public construction area has many problems in terms of the transparency and fairness of administration. And, it causes many expenses to suppliers. As part of the efforts to solve these problems, some public institutions developed the electronic bidding systems. But these systems have still problems in diverse aspects. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze current bidding systems through literature survey, Questionnaire, contentment estimation and IDEF method to compare the result of the analysis with the developed electronic bidding systems and to suggest the improvement for the coming bidding systems. According to the survey, under present bidding system big problem is inconvenience of conducting process. Nearly all users of current electronic bidding systems were contented. When public institutions are planning new electronic bidding systems, standardization, security, law and bidding system consolidation must be applied. This study proposes an improved bidding system and described the effects through the improvements.
