With the advent of Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems(ECDIS) and Automatic Identification Systems (AIS) as the principal navigation equipment of E-navigation strategy, mariners will begin to practice "e-navigation" and increasingly rely upon these systems to navigate safely and efficiently. However, these electronic systems require "e-inputs" in order to function. At present, the choices for e-input are limited, and they are installation dependent. This means that the mariner must be suitably equipped in order to use an alternative e-input. If the primary e-input is lost, and the vessel is not equipped to make use of suitable alternative e-inputs, then continued operations will have to be done the "old fashioned way" using conventional navigation The final objective is a recommendation of dual harbor positioning system on the most appropriate mix of positioning systems to satisfy the marine needs for radionavigation, positioning services.

There are the C.W.C and Towing Tank to the model-test equipments of the boat. A model testing of the high speed boat have a difficult in the performance verification because of very a small the scale-ratio of the ship-model and restricted by flow-velocity of the C.W.C and X-carriage velocity of the T.T. In general, the stepped hull boat is a high of fuel-efficiency because of the resistance reduction by a small wetted surface-area in correspond without stepped-hull boat. But It have a tendency to be bad the rolling performance by reduced stern wetted-area In this paper, the high speed stepped planning-boats with & without attached a stern body were performed to compare the effect of resistance and rolling performance by using sea model-test method.

This paper studied safety benefit of operation-effectiveness analysis on marine traffic safety facilities. In the operation-effectiveness of marine traffic safety facilities the benefits can be divided as safety benefit, transport benefit, and other benefit. Safety benefit was produced as the loss aversion cost of marine traffic caused by the reduction of marine accidents after establishing and operating marine traffic safety facilities. First of all the reduction rate marine accidents was estimated to do it, and the detail model of loss aversion cost was constructed Then each variable in the model was defined and the method of computation presented.

The use of high-strength aluminum alloys for ship and offshore structure generally has many benefits compared to the structural steels. These materials are used widely in a variety of fields, especially in the hull and deck of high speed craft, box-girder of bridges, deck and side plates of offshore structure. The structural weight can be reduced using these aluminum structure, which can enable high speed The characteristics of stress-strain relationship of aluminum structure are fairly different from the steel one, because of the influence of Heat Affected Zone(HAZ) by the welding processing. The HAZ of aluminum is much wider than that of steel with its high heat conductivity. In this paper, the ultimate strength characteristics of aluminum stiffened panel subjected to axial loading, such as the relationship between extent of HAZ and the behavior of buckling/ultimate strength, are investigated through the Finite Element Analysis with varying its range.
Fabrication of an Optical Fiber Amplifier Using Long-period Fiber Gratings Formed by Periodically Arrayed Metal Wire

In this study, we have fabricated a gain flattened erbium-doped optical fiber amplifier. Gain flattening filters were realized by the strain-induced long period fiber gratings, which are made of periodically arrayed metal wires. Using the filter of
period, spontaneous emission amplified at C-band wavelength by a 980nm pumping laser was flattened within 1dB of gain ripple. The performance of the simultaneous multi channel amplification was measured using a fabry-perot laser diode. Amplification ratio was above 20dB. This amplifier can be applied to the long distance transmission system based on a wavelength division multiplexing for boosting an attenuated signal.
Research of DC-DC Converter for Ocean Buoy

This paper describes the performance of DC-DC converters for buoy such as buck, boost, and buck-boost. The operating characteristic and charging efficiency with battery, which has a considerable properties about converters with PV(photovoltaic) system, is analyzed in this paper. It is performed by using the MPPT(Maximum Power Point Tracker) algorithm The basic equations of switching operation for converter are described, and the equations are analyzed with according to switch state. Whereas this analysis is directed toward the selection of converter for buoy, it also provides the insight into the behaviour of converter and performance of the proposed algorithm Finally, the suitable DC-DC converter is proposed for buoy, and the characteristic experiment is performed with the buck converter.

An OWC-type Wave Energy Conversion passes through 3 steps energy conversion process. This paper deal with the impulse turbine with staggered blade to improved performance by numerical analysis using commercial CFD code, FLUENT Maximum value of axial airflow velocity during exhalation is higher than that during inhalation This paper deal with special-type of Impulse Turbine so-called "Staggered Blade" for more efficiency to making air flow direct to on pressure side. Also, this paper has proposed special-type turbine with self-pitched blade more efficient.

In this paper, a seesaw system composed with a moving cart on the rail and seesaw frame is made to demonstrate the effectiveness of the control theory. The control aim is to maintain an equilibrium of seesaw frame in spite of various initial conditions and an allowable disturbance. To solve this control problem, a PI-type state feedback controller using reduced-order observer is implemented and applied to the seesaw system. The reduced-order observer can be used to estimate the state variables in the case of the limit of sensor number or the constraint on setting sensors and the cost. A series of simulation are carried out to verify the effectiveness of the control system.
Performance Verification Method of Receiver for DGPS Reference Station

In the future, it is necessary that using the Satellite-based radio navigation augmentation system such as Differential Global Positioning System(DGPS) to achieve a position accuracy of sub-meter level in port. Generally, the receiver for DGPS reference station should meet performance specifications of RSIM Ver. 1.1 presented by RTCM. This paper proposes a method to verify performance of the receiver for DGPS reference station according to the RSIM Ver. 1.1. And this paper presented that performance evaluation of the commercial receiver for DGPS reference station through the proposed method is satisfied with RSIM Ver. 1.1.
Development of the EM Wave Absorber Using MnZn-Ferrite and Sendust for Wireless LAN at 2.4 GHz

Recently, wireless LANs are often applied in home or office because of its various of convenience. Frequency range of wireless LANs specified by IEEE 802.11b is at 2.4 GHz. The bluetooth, the microwave oven, and the PDA(Personal Digital Assistants) uses, however, the same frequency band. So problems will be produced in these environments, such as multi-pass interference and system-to-system interference. These problems can be eliminated by using EM wave absorber. In this paper, we designed and fabricated EM wave absorber using MnZn-Ferrite, Sendust, and CPE( Chlorinated Polyethylene). The EM wave absorber with the ratio of material (MnZn-Ferrite : Sendust : CPE = 64 : 16 : 20 wt.%) has thickness of 3.7 mm and absorption ability more than 17 dB at 2.4 GHz.
Real Time Scheduling for Multiple Yard Cranes in an Automated Container Terminal

This paper proposes a realtime scheduling method using local search algorithm for non-crossable yard cranes in automated container terminal. To take into consideration the dynamic property of yard crane operation and satisfy the real time constraint, the proposed method repeatedly builds crane schedule for the jobs in a fixed length look-ahead horizon whenever a new job is requested In addition, the proposed method enables the co-operation between yard cranes through prior re-handling and re-positioning in order to resolve the workload imbalance problem between the two cranes, which is one of the primary causes that lower the performance of yard cranes. Simulation-based experiments have shown that the proposed method outperforms the heuristic based methods, and the cooperation scheme contributes a lot to the performance improvement.
A study on the characteristic of vegetables temperature in the pre-cooling vacuum unit

This study is to observe the change of temperature and relative humidity for various vegetables in vacuum precooling system. The materials for experiments were the lettuce, chinese cabbage, pak choi and cabbage. The experimental apparatus was constructed of vacuum chamber, vapor/water separator, water tank, pumps ejecting and cooling water circulation, refrigerator unit, cooling coil for water cooling, Hygrometer and Data logger measuring of the temperature change. The experiments were operated in 20torr and recorded every 3 minutes. It was found that the cooling temperature and speed of vegetables are depending on the percentage of its water content. The more water contains, the faster cooling speed and the lower cooling temperature.
A Study on Planning of Waterfront Belt in Busan Coastal Area

The purpose of this study is for providing a strategic plan of waterfront belt development at the coastal area of Busan city that might enhance the possibility on healthy use of spare time of the residents and demand of tourism, together with raising the potential and the value added effect of coastal space. This study is one of a series of studies for developing waterfront belt at Busan coastal area. In this study we suggest the new concepts of waterfront belt, waterfront cluster and waterfront greenway. And then we present a model of making waterfront belt through waterfront cluster, which is an aggregate of individual waterfront spaces, using waterfront greenway. After that we apply this model to Haeundae coastal area and test the applicability of the model.
Empirical Study on the Induction Effects of Safety Management System for the Shipping Company

This paper is the empirical study results on the introduction effects of safety management system(SMS) for the shipping company. First of all, we take a brief look at the present Korean situations after the SMS induction Next, we analyse the effect of the SMS induction. We divided the effect of induction in 21 factors. The result was 3.5 out of 5 perfect points, which shows the high preference. Higher points were scored with international companies than domestic ones, the companies accepted before 1998 than the ones after 1998, and large enterprises than smaller ones.
A Study on the Effect of the Gap of Cultural Homogeneity and Onboard Working Tolerance between Korean and Foreign Crews on Organizational Commitment

The purpose of this study is to examine empirically the cultural problem and working attitude in the Korean vessel of combined foreign crews, Currently, the restrictions on the employment of the foreign crews are being eased in the Korean shipping industry and many problems such as misunderstanding and dissonance in working have been occurred consequently, However, specific and empirical studies regarding different culture between Korean and foreign crews working together in the vessel have not yet carried out, So this study is meaningful as exploratory research about cultural homogeneity, onboard working tolerance and organization commitment for combined foreign crews and the result of this study contributes to management of crew and vessel organization.
A Study on the Ship's Performance of T.S. HANBADA(I) -The Evaluation of Seakeeping Performance by HMS Measuring Data-

As the ship is getting bigger and faster lately, ship's structure or cargoes might be often damaged and the ship might be cut in two in extreme conditions by a wave impact on its bow. In this paper, the vertical acceleration, which is one of factors for evaluating seakeeping performance, was measured under the various sea states by the hull stress monitoring system(HMS) on the bridge, and the result was compared with those of model test and theoretical studies. Then, we confirmed the seakeeping performance of T.S. HANBADA by comparing it with ITTC seakeeping criteria This result will be a great help for the safe navigation by making it possible to estimate the possibility of work and the amount of risk under the various sea conditions with which may be confronted, and the shipbuilding yard can be possible to construct the vessel with superior performance through these data measured on the actual ship.
