A Study on the Analysis of Ship Handling Simulation about Domestic Sea Bridge over the Harbor

Recently the large sea bridge's construction crossing harbor and main ship's route have been propelled in the domestic so that it is active for the smoothly traffic flow of inland transportation and road user's convenience. However, it can bring about the trouble to ensure marine traffic safety if it is built that sea bridge's construction sets to an economy principle in the extension of the land road system. We're adopting Ship Handling Simulation in representative method for the influence assessment of marine traffic safety and danger elements beforehand. This research attempts to show the problems through the comparison and analysis of the reports relating to the sea bridge construction for 4 organization possessing Ship Handling Simulation. Finally, We offer the necessity of standardization on performing and assessment method of simulations.
The User Analysis for Visual Range and Arrangement of Light-buoy on the Channel of the Domestic Trade-port

This paper analyzed the visual range and arrangement of light buoy on navigation officers as the primary material to establish the standard of optimal arrangement of light buoy on the channel of the domestic trade-port. About
questionnaires by port were distributed according to the scale of trade-ports and then Effective total 356 copies were used in analysis. The distance,
mile, occupied the highest percentage 55.0% as the visual range with naked eyes at the daytime in bright weather. At the arrangement way of light buoy the both sides buoy method showed high in the preference 62.1% among the respondents. The preferred interval between sequence buoys was averagely 1.09mile. Also, the preferred number of light buoy was two in the preference 40.6% among them to cognize without binoculars.
A Study on the Ship's Performance of T.S. HANBADA(II) - The Evaluation of Boarding Comfort with Vertical Acceleration -

When a vessel is underway in a heavy weather, passengers and crew suffer from seasickness caused by ship motions such as pitch, heave or roll, or all combined Sickness induces drowsiness, dizziness, headache, stomachache etc, in extreme conditions, they are met with a serious trouble which is physiologically unrecoverable. It results in weakening of spiritual activities or making errors from decrease of motivation, dropping off skills, poor recognition and poor judgement. In this paper, it was examined the international standards concerning the occurrence of sickness and the execution of works, also evaluated the boarding comfort by conducting several times of questionnaire on cadets boarding on the training ship HANBADA As a result, it was confirmed that the main factor of occurring the sickness was the vertical acceleration and the level was more than 0.2g. Also, it was presented the way how to reduce the sickness by changing the speed and/or course in relation to the encounter period.
Wave Attenuation due to Water-Front Vegetation

Recently, it has been widely recognized that water-front and coastal vegetations may have great value in supporting fisheries, protecting from wave attack, stabilizing the sea bed and maintaining good scenery. Hydrodynamic factors playa major role in the functions of water quality and ecosystems. However, the studies on numerical and analytical process of wave propagation are few and far behind compared to those on the hydrodynamic roles of water-front vegetations. In this study, in order to express wave attenuation into water-front vegetation, a numerical model based on the unsteady mild slope equation is developed. This result is compared with an analytical model for describing the wave attenuation by assumed simple long wave condition. Based on both the analytical and numerical results, the physical properties of the wave attenuation are examined under various wave, geometric and vegetation conditions. Through comparisons between the analytical and numerical results, the effects of the vegetation properties, wave properties and model parameters such as the momentum exchange coefficient have been clarified.
Development of the EM Wave Absorber for Preventing RFID Reader Interference in UHF band

In this paper, the EM wave absorber was designed and fabricated for preventing Reader Interference of RFID communication system in UHF band We fabricated several samples in different composition ratios of Amorphous and CPE(Chlorinated Polyethylene). Absorption abilities were simulated in accordance with different thicknesses of the prepared absorbers and changed complex relative permittivity and permeability due to composition ratio. The mixing ratio of Amorphous and CPE was searched as 80 : 20 wt.% by experiments and simulation. Then the EM wave absorber was fabricated and tested using the simulated data. As a result, the developed EM wave absorber has a thickness of 4 mm and absorption ability was over 20 dB in frequency range of
. Therefore, it was confirmed that the developed absorber can be used for suppressing RFID reader interference in UHF band.
A Study on Genetic Algorithm and Stereo Matching for Object Depth Recognition

Stereo matching is one of the most active research areas in computer vision. In this paper, we propose a stereo matching scheme using genetic algorithm for object depth recognition. The proposed approach considers the matching environment as an optimization problem and finds the optimal solution by using an evolutionary strategy. Accordingly, genetic operators are adapted for the circumstances of stereo matching. An individual is a disparity set. Horizontal pixel line of image is considered as a chromosome. A cost function is composed of certain constraints which are commonly used in stereo matching. Since the cost function consists of intensity, similarity and disparity smoothness, the matching process is considered at the same time in each generation. The LoG(Laplacian of Gaussian) edge is extracted and used in the determination of the chromosome. We validate our approach with experimental results on stereo images.
Miniaturization Design of Tag Antenna for RFID System in 910 MHz band

This paper presents a miniaturization design technique of radio frequency identification (RFID) tag antenna operated in 910 MHz band. Miniaturization structure design for a tag antenna is performed by structure application of the folded dipole and meander line. In order to realize the maximum power transmission, imaginary part of a chip impedance and a tag antenna impedance is matched by complex conjugate number. The optimized tag antenna size is
and its size is reduced about 62 % comparison with antenna size of reference . The measured results of fabricated tag antenna are confirmed the reasonable agreement with prediction. The read range of the tag antenna with chip observed about 5 m.
A Study on RTLS Technology based YT Dynamic Operation for Efficiency of Container Terminal

Interest in high productivity and streamlined operation is growing amid a heated competition between ports and mega size vessel oriented operation. It becomes clear that terminals that operate YT(Yard Tractor) for transportation in container yard have less efficiency in operation and cost comparing terminals functioning AGV(Automated Guided Vehicle) system. To offset disadvantages arising out of YT operations, continual efforts (e,g YT pooling operation) were taken place for the last decade, but the result has not been fruitful; YT pooling operation still has a problem in that it cannot read individual YT's actual location. This study suggests 'YT dynamic operation model'- a practical application of RTLS(Real Time Location System) technology which will solve YT pooling operation problems.
Experimental Data based-Parameter Estimation and Control for Container Crane

In this paper, we presents a scheme for the parameter estimation and optimal control scheme for apparatus of container crane system. For parameter estimation, first, we construct the open loop of the container crane system and estimate its parameters based on input-output data, a real-coded genetic algorithm(RCGA) and the model adjustment technique. The RCGA plays an important role in parameter estimation as an adaptive mechanism. For controller design, state feedback gain matrix is searched by another RCGA and the estimated model. The performance of the proposed methods are demonstrated through a set of simulation and experiments of the experimental apparatus.
An Analysis on the Preference of Domestic Container Transport Systems

The cost of domestic container transportation is higher than international sea transportation and it cannot meet the needs of customers either. However, domestic carriers try hardly nothing to improve the carriage system. Especially, the inland transportation connecting Busan port is not receiving a careful study in spite of the importance and urgency now. This paper reviews intention of forwarders, shipping companies, and transport companies conducting a questionnaire and analyse the preferences of transportation modes amongst existing highway, railway, coastal shipping and inland waterway. Its aim is to analyse which factors affect freight agents to choose particular mode.
A Survey on the Prevalence of Cumulative Trauma Disorders and Related Factors among Seafares

The purpose of this study is to provide basic data for the prevention and management of Cumulative Trauma Disorders in Korea seamen. 569 seamen's questionnaire had been acquired at Korea Marine Training and Research Institute. The prevalence in Cumulative Trauma Disorders within recent 12 months was 68.5%. The more working hours(p<0.01), services on the vessel(p<0.01), and the less job satisfaction(p<0.05), the higher prevalence of Cumulative Trauma Disorders. The distribution of Cumulative Trauma Disorders by the part of the body was turned out as Back ; 43.6%, knee ; 23.9%, shoulder ; 19.3%. The officers had more frequency of symptom around the neck than the ratings(p<0.01) and the seamen who work at the engine room were more frequent in elbow than those at deck department(p<0.05). In the duration of pain, 55.4% were less than one week, 20.6% less than 30 days, and 24.0% 30 days and more. the cause of symptom was turned out as 34.5% by excessive hard work and 30.1 % was unknown.
Relations between Variation of Sea Surface Temperatures in the South Sea of Korea and Intensity of Typhoons

Relations between variation of SSTs(sea surface temperatures) in the South Sea of Korea and intensity of typhoons which passed through the South Sea of Korea was analyzed for 36 years from 1970 to 2005. The SSTs in the South Sea show the rising trends continuously. The mean SST of the last 10 years(1996-2005) is higher
than the mean SST during 10 years(1970-1979). The rising trends are especially strong after 1994. The intensity of typhoon can be shown by the minimum sea level pressure. The minimum sea level pressures of typhoons which passed through the South Sea show the descending trends. The mean minimum sea level pressure of the last 10 years(1996-2005) is lower 10.1hPa than that during 10 years(1970-1979). The correlation analysis shows that the rising of SSTs in the South Sea has relations with the strengthening of intensity of typhoons.
Analysis on the safety perception of ocean leisure business owners

This study came to the following conclusions through the survey which was conducted to ocean leisure business runners to find out current business situation and the perceptions about the revised regulations the safety law of water leisure. This survey showed that most of the respondents agreed about receiving water safety training for regulated time when they obtain or renew their licenses. 63.5% answered that water safety training is needed. There was a considerable demand for registration system of leisure boots. 70.3% presented that registration system of private leisure boots should be introduced. It is confirmed that insurance is an essential fact for ocean leisure activities. 81.1% for leisure boots and 70.3% for non-leisure boots respectively answered that private insurance or fraternal insurance need to be imposed as a compulsory condition in case of accidents during ocean leisure activities.
A Course Development of the Marine Leisure Sport Policy

The purpose of this study is to show a course development of the marine leisure sport policy in Korea. The preceding researches and the analysis on the actual conditions on marine leisure sport in Korea were conducted for this research. And analyzing the obstacle and development factors in marine leisure sport, the conclusions intended to provide the preliminary data on the marine leisure industry are as follows: First, as policy-based problems, there will be needs for the public perception improvement in the marine culture caused by the lack of publicity, the reflection reinforcement of the national policy on the marine leisure industry, the prevention of the overlapping investment for the national resources development in the marine industry and marine leisure sport complexes, and the reinforcement of the close networks with the developed countries. Second, as human-based problems, there will be needs for the new organization of the specialty agencies involved in the marine leisure industry field, the nurture of the capable specialists and the reinforcement and nurture of TF team for the infrastructure industry. Third, as facility-based problems, there appeared to be the expansion of the SOC related to the marine leisure, the ease of the laws and regulations for the development of the marine leisure facilities, the prevention of the thoughtless development caused by close cooperation system with the local government. Fourth, as law and institution-based problems, there appeared to be the abolishment of the regulation-centered laws involved in them, the prevention of the legal and institutional confusion caused by policy confusion. Fifth, as industry-based problems, there must be the expansion of the domestic supply and demand, the reinforcement of parts industry and the nurture of the license system for the mechanics on the vessels and the engines.
