The Forecast of the Cargo Transportation and Traffic Volume on Container in Gwangyang Port, using Time Series Models

The future cargo transportation and traffic volume on container in Gwangyang port was forecasted by using univariate time series models in this research. And the container ship traffic was produced. The constructed models all were most adapted to Winters` additive models with a trend and seasonal change. The cargo transportation on container in Gwangyang port was estimated each about 2,756 thousand TEU and 4,470 thousand TEU in 2011 and 2015 by increasing each 7.4%, 16.2% compared with 2007. The volume per ship on container was estimated each about 675TEU and 801TEU in 2011 and 2015 by increasing each 30.3%, 54.6% compared with 2007. Also, traffic volume on container incoming in Gwangyang Port was prospected each about 4,078ships and 5,921ships in 2011 and 2015.
A Study on Navigational Safety of Towing-barge on Gwangyang Hysco Temporary Passage

In Gwangyang port, huge reclaiming work and developing harbor facilities are underway to built industrial complexes. So it is estimated that towing barges will increase and make overtaking, head-on, crossing situations with a lot of cargo vessels in narrow passages. And it is possible to cause severe marine accidents inside of the harbor. This paper has a purpose to produce some policies making navigational safety of towing-barge on Gwangyang Hysco temporary passage. So it is considered how the change of marine traffic capacity and the risk factors in passage navigation influence to towing-barge navigation. And also the questionnaire survey of pilots and VTS operator was conducted to find out what they think about the navigational safety of towing-barge incoming and outgoing in No.1 Yulchon industrial complexes.
A Study on the Ship`s Performance of T.S. HANBADA(III) - The Evaluation of Maneuvering Performance with Actual Ship Trials -

Various turning tests were carried out according to the rudder angle, turning direction, and the speed etc. with the ship`s maneuverability measuring system on the training ship HANBADA. After that they were compared with each other on the turning circle, maneuvering performance index and the distance of new course, and then found out that they were satisfied with the IMO maneuvering standards. And the turning circles of port were smaller than those of starboard with all the rudder angles and maneuvering indexes such as K and T were relatively bigger than other vessels. . All of these results will be helpful to escape from collision and to alter course on coastal voyage.
A Study of the Depth Control System and the Collision Avoidance System for the Manta-type UUV

In this paper, the automatic depth control system and the collision avoidance system of the Manta UUV have been established in vertical and horizontal plane. The PID control theory and the Fuzzy theory are adopted in this system. The 6-DOF MMG model had been established by theoretical calculations and captive model test results. The depth control simulation results have been fully presented. The collision risks of the UUV had calculated by the fuzzy theory with the virtual sonar system. Finally, the automatic depth control system and the collision avoidance simulation system of Manta UUV have been fully developed and simulated.

In this paper, we present the model-based fuzzy controller for container cranes which effectively performs set-point tracking control of trolley and anti-swaying control under system parameter and disturbance changes. The first part of this paper focuses on the development of Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy modeling in a nonlinear container crane system. Parameters of the membership functions are adjusted by a RCGA to have same dynamic characteristics with nonlinear model of a container crane. In the second part, we present a design methodology of the model-based fuzzy controller. Sub-controllers are designed using LQ control theory for each subsystem in fuzzy model and then the proposed controller is performed with the combination of these sub-controllers by fuzzy IF-THEN rules. In the results of simulation, the fuzzy model showed almost similar dynamic characteristics compared to the outputs of the nonlinear container crane model. Also, the model-based fuzzy controller showed not only the fast settling time for the change in parameter and disturbance, but also stable and robust control performances without any steady-state error.
A Study on Optimized Decision Model for Transfer Crane Operation in Container Terminal

As the excessive competition between container terminals has been deepening, not only productivity, but also cost economic of the terminals has been raised. With regard to this, the competitiveness of the terminals is limited because of inefficiency operation of transfer crane(T/C) which needs large amount of energy consumption. Therefore, it is possible that the improvement in the T/C operation leads to saving cost for resources and energy as well as increasing the productivity of the terminals. This study provides `the K-Means Clustering based Optimized Decision Model for Transfer Crane Operation`, referring to `RFID & RTLS based Port Logistics Initiative` of Ministry of Land, Transportation and Maritime Affairs and estimates the efficiency through simulating.

Recently the trade patterns of the entire economy are rapidly changing on development of IT. The field of port logistics is enforcing a competitiveness through preliminary offer of information and a batch process for improving the structure of logistics management which is apparently high cost and the low efficiency since 1990. But a previous EDI is insufficient in process ability. Bemuse it costs for the purchasing and maintenance of the expensive communication devices which is operated on the VAN environment. A web based EDI operating on an open network environment is needed to improve these problems and to handle transaction efficiently among many and unauthorized personals. Therefore, this study is willing to present a new web based model of the pull process which extracts the data when the receiver is needed to improve the push process which is transmitting data unilaterally.
A Study on Design of Dual-Bandpass Filters for Wireless LAN

Ship`s wireless LAN was in the limelight as equipment of ease, cost reduction, various func tion al i ty. In the paper, a dual-bandpass filter for wireless LAN has proposed, which was designed by using dual-mode square loop resonator with square patch in compliance with 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz band of wireless LAN. The dual-bandpass filter could be designed by adjusting sizes of one perturbation element and three of reference elements in compliance with the frequency bands of 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz, Furthermore, new dual-bandpass filter was also designed by adjusting stopband of using open stubs in compliance with the frequency bands of 2.4 GHz and 5.2 GHz. The measured results for the fabricated dual-bandpass filters agreed well with the simulated ones, and hence, it was confirmed that the proposed design method is valid.

The government is now driving a policy that development of industrial complex site for the local manufacturing industry by reengineering and expanding the existing sites or reclamation of coastal zone. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the impact of the coastal reclamation work in terms of physical and environmental characteristics. This study is also dealing with the impact of coastal reclamation for national industrial complex site to the ocean physical characteristics, variation of sedimentation and diffusion system and marine environment from the analysis of the field measurement and numerical simulation. The site for application is at the coastal boundary near Onsan national industrial complex, Ulsan metro city. In order to verify the numerical simulation result, it is compared to the collected data for tide, current, and sediments of the existing measurement and field observation at the selected stations for this study. The verified numerical models were applied to the actual field and the future change was analyzed.
Study of Factors for development of Advanced Media filter for Ballast water Treatment

As the conference result of MEPC in IMO, development of ballast water management system corresponding to newly established ballast water management standard (D2 regulation) of shipping is being made an active progress over the whole world. The ballast water management system should treat particular material of more than
in high capacity of more than 500t per hour in the event of filtration process. Also, it is very difficult to develop a practical management system since a limited element which a narrow space of the ship should be designed in the minimal volume is assumed. Therefore, the study promoted a study on the next generation auto back wash media filter to overcome such a limited element. Also, the study performed pressure and flux measurement test followed by thickness of each filter medium for filtration by each size to grasp a relation between absorption and pressure at the time of vacuum filtration and mechanical analysis and turbidity change observation of filtered water after vacuum filtration.
A study on the Residential Satisfaction of Environmental Condition for Housing Complexes located in Coastal Areas

Regarding the developmental plans for the coastal areas and marine architectures, this study deal with the overall planning of apartment complexes in waterfront areas, focusing upon the analysis of their comfort and convenience factors from the perspective of the potential residence. It also analysis the intra-complex comfort and satisfaction conditions in terms of their floor-by-floor, directional. and location factors. The results of the study are as follows: 1) The order of respondents` preference on directional factor has been found to be: South > Southeast > Southwest > East > others. 2) 67% of the people surveyed on scenery responded that outward view is considered more significant than the directional factor. 3) A comprehensive analysis of floor zone-specific view preference shared that there were only minor differences among quay wall, arc, and river-seashore types. The impact of the characteristics of the marine environments turned out to be a greater point of consideration; showing that the other of floor-preference is: high-level > ultra-high level > middle level > low level.
Self-Governing Capacity of Ocean Environmental Management of Busan Metropolitan City

Using the analytical framework designed by Lester, this study analyzes self-governing capacity of ocean environmental management of Busan Metropolitan City pursuing establishment of ocean capital as one of the impending goals. Following Lester`s methodology, this study analyzes the levels of two critical variables: will of chief executives and physical base. It was found that mayor of Busan Metrocity and high-level public managers concerned showed somewhat low levels of will, considering Busan is the top-ranked ocean city in South Korea. Comparison of number qf public servants and size of budget for ocean environmental management with seven other metropolitan cities in Korea also revealed that Busan Metropolitan City maintained a relatively low level of physical base. In conclusion, the level of self-governing capacity of ocean environmental management of Busan Metropolitan city is classified into the type of regressives or the type of delayers.
