Structural analysis of an 38 feet diffusion style for high-speed catamaran yacht

Recently, design technology of has been required such as catamaran yacht with high-speed according to expand a marine leisure industry. The domestic technical development for design and production of yacht is not actively than Canada, USA, Japan etc. However, with further development of yacht design & technology, it is need to develop a key technology related to increase the value of catamaran yacht. In the present paper, new guideline is suggest for catamaran yacht as like kinds of marine leisure ship in order for fundamental structure design and structural analysis for twin-hulled ship yacht and techniques for structural analysis as sea leisure ship in this research. The class of society has not been proposed formally about regulation and methodology for estimation of strength of small hight-speed craft with satisfying two conditions as noted; length less than 50meters, ratio of length to breadth less than 12. In the present study, we were adopted DNV (Yachts, Design Principles, Design Loads, Hull Structural Design) Rule and KR (FRP rule application guide) for scantling of structural members. Furthermore, ABS rule is used for structural calculation about application of loading conditions for catamaran yacht. This study can be available feedback role to manufacture of 38ft diffusion style for catamaran yacht. It is expected that this study will be a good reference in order to design of catamaran yacht with high-speed.
A Study on Indoor Environment Performances of Power Yacht in Summer Season

In this study, the basic data were collected for improving the amenity of indoor environment of a super yacht and the performance of indoor environment was analyzed by utilizing measured data during summer period. Through the results of examination, the following conclusions are drawn. 1) It is estimated that, in case of closing the door of Saloon connected with outside, there is little inflow of exhaust gas, but when the door is open, the indoor-air might be polluted so fast. Therefore, it is necessary to make a counter plan about the method of ventilation and amount of ventilation to keep the indoor aerial environment agreeable. 2) It is urgent to conceive countermeasure against engine noise because the noise level of all rooms exceeds 60dB, which is regulation of noise for protecting crew established in ship`s classification, during the sailing. 3) State cabin and Guest cabin are super cooled by operating air conditioner exceeding agreeableness extent and it is needed to prevent them.
Implementation Techniques for the Seafarer`s Human Error Assessment Model in a Merchant Ship: Practical Application to a Ship Management Company

In general, seafarer`s human error is considered to be the preponderant muse for the majority of maritime transportation accidents in a merchant ship. The implementation techniques for Human Error Model (HEM) to assess possible accident risk by deck officers including captain, chief officer, second mate and third mate are described in this study. The scope of this work is focused to 642 deck officers in the ship management company with 130 vessels. At first, HEM can be constructed through the statistical analysis and expert`s brainstorming process with human data to 642 deck officers. Then the variables

of each deck officers can be decided. In addition, through the analysis of ship`s accident history, the accident causation ratios by human error

Development of EM Wave Absorber for Countermeasure against EM Wave Environment of 2.4 GHz Wireless LAN

In this paper, the EM wave absorber was designed and fabricated for improvement of Wireless LAN environment at 2.4 GHz. We fabricated several samples in different composition ratios of Sendust and CPE(Chlorinated Polyethylene). Absorption abilities were simulated in accordance with different thicknesses of the prepared absorbers and changed complex relative permittivity and permeability due to composition ratio. The mixing ratio of Sendust and CPE was searched as 80: 20 wt.% by experiments and simulation Then the EM wave absorber was fabricated and tested using the simulated data. As a result, the EM wave absorber was fabricated based on simulated data. Simulated and measured results agreed well. As a result, the developed EM wave absorber with thickness of 3.25 mm has absorption ability of 19 dB at 2.4 GHz.
A Study on the Establishment of the Technology Road Map for Container Ports in Korea - Focusing on the Logistics and the Handling Equipment in Ports -

Since Emma Maersk, which is a container vessel capable of holding a freight capacity of 11,000 TEU, was launched early last year, the appearance of the ULCS (Ultra Large Container Ship) will be expected in 5 years. That requires the high productivity, the high technology, the automation, and the high efficiency in port operations. GTO (Global Terminal Operator) and port equipment companies are striving for the prior occupation of the port market and the development of the port technology. Within the country, however, there has been few systematic, analytic, and detailed technology road map, and the effective execution of the development policy for the port technology and the activation of port industries has not been achieved. In this study, we deduces the development subject of the domestic port technology and analyzes the priority of them. In conclusion, we establishes the macro technology road map and the product-related road map for container ports in Korea.
Estimated on the Busan Regional Economic Contribution of Container Cargo in Basic Unit(Won/TEU) -Focused on Maritime Businesses-

This research estimates the contribution to the Busan regional economy made by Busan Port`s container cargo handling from the microscopic point of view. The cost is calculated and shown in the currency unit of Korea, won, per TEU. A questionnaire was conducted to 12 different types of maritime business to obtain total sales and performances of the companies. The total sales of maritime business related to container goods per the whole TEU was computed at 238,230won/TEU. This can be adopted as a new index to analyse the Busan regional economy.
Wind Load Analysis owing to the Computation Fluid Dynamics and Wind Tunnel Test of a Container Crane

Container cranes are vulnerable structure to difficult weather conditions bemuse there is no shielding facility to protect them from strong wind. This study was carried out to analyze the effect of wind load on the structure of a container crane according to the change of the boom shape using wind tunnel test and computation fluid dynamics. And we provide a container crane designer with data which am be used in a wind resistance design of a container crane assuming that a wind load 75m/s wind velocity is applied in a container crane. In this study, we applied mean wind load conformed to `Design Criteria of Wind Load` in `Load Criteria of Building Structures` and an external fluid field was divided as interval of 10 degrees to analyze the effect according to a wind direction. In this conditions, we carried out the wind tunnel test and the computation fluid dynamic analysis and than we analyzed the wind load which was needed to design the container crane.
A Study on International Trend and Korean Measures regarding Ship Recycling

Guidelines on ship recycling are adopted internationally. UNEP adopted `Basel Convention`, providing Environmentally Sound Management(ESM) of facilities and recommendations. IMO adopted `Guidelines on Ship Recycling`, providing measures for worker`s safety, how to control pollutant materials and the meaning of `Green Passport`. IMO Convention (draft) is in progress. ILO adopted `ILO Guideline`, providing how to make sure safety and health for workers in shipbreaking. But Republic of Korea goes against the stream and there is much to be desired. At this point of time, we carried out a study on international trend regarding ship recycling, a plan to cope with international trend, and it is considered to be necessary to establish a special law on ship recycling.
A Case Study on Settlement Promotion of a Large Size Open Caisson using Air-Jet an Method

This experimental study has been carried out to investigate the reduction in side friction of open caisson using air-jet method. For this study, the large size caisson having air-pockets was used. This caisson was used as substructure of bridge. By using air-jet method, settlement time was decreased and even settlement was reached to the depth which conventional methods could not be. We found that the side resistance decreases to less then half the expected value. In addition to these merits, the air-jet method can result in self-weight settlement without applying additional load. Also the open caisson damage caused by blasting can be prevented with this method.
The Sensitivity Evaluation of Probability Variables to Durability Design of the RC Structures

Simulation method based on probability was developed to evaluate the durability of reinforced concrete structures about chloride attack. The effects of the probability parameters(surface chloride ion concentration, initial combined chloride ion concentration, the depth of cover thickness of concrete, and the chloride ion diffusion coefficient), probability distribution function and it`s variation were calculated using the Monte Carlo method and Fick`s 2nd law. From the durability design method proposed in this study, the following results were obtained. 1) The effects of the distance from the coast and the chloride ion diffusion coefficient to the corrosion probability were quite high. 2) The effect of the variation of each parameters was relatively low.
A Survey on the Electric Power Consumptions of Apartments located at Coastal Area : Yeongdo-gu, Busan, Korea

Because of the heat island phenomenon and sea wind, there can be thermal conditions` differences around buildings at downtown and coastal area respectively in coastal city, like Busan, Incheon, Mokpo. For the final purpose of the buildings` energy saving design and operation considering of above mentioned environments differences, energy consumption including heating and cooling loads, electric loads are necessary to be accumulated and analyzed in as the database. As a part of this concept, this study aims to survey and analyze each loads of 22 apartments which has at least 100 households respectively and is located at Yeongdo island, Busan, Korea It is cleared that despite the residents living in this district can use sea wind as a natural ventilation and/or cooling methods, they mainly depends on the electric-driven air-conditioners for cooling with window-closed because of anti-salt problems of the sea wind. This leads the maximum power consumption of the surveyed-22-apartments to be appeared in August like that of inland buildings.
A Comparative Study on Attitudes of Experts, Citizen and Visitors towards Busan Portscape

This is a first and basic study for making Busan port more attractive. The study is intended to clear up the situation and problems of landscape of Busan port area from the viewpoint of landscape experts, citizen and visitors. To reach the goal an attitude comparative study has been conducted using a same questionnaire between landscape experts working in Busan city, Busan citizen and visitors to Busan port area. In questionnaire, firstly the situation of the whole landscape of Busan port area has been asked. The contents of questions on the situation of port landscape are satisfaction about port landscape, harmony between cityscape and portscape, images of portscape, effects of 25 portscape elements on portscape, problems of portscape, and ways of improving portscape. Secondly, each respondent has given answers freely on how to make Busan port area more attractive. As a result of this study there are several important differences of attitudes towards Busan portscape between experts, citizen and visitors. Especially there are some distinctive differences between attitudes of experts and citizen but the attitudes of citizen are similar to those of visitors. At the end of the study some proposals for making an improvement of Busan port landscape have been suggested on the basis of the results of this attitude comparative study.
