A Study of Integrated Distribution Service System for Electronic Navigational Charts

Electronic Navigational Charts(ENCs) are a database for the use of supporting the safety of navigation in marie voyage embedded within the navigational information in the Electronic Chart Display & Information System(ECDIS). Recently IMO made a decision on the mandatory equipment resolution of ECDIS for the international SOLAS vessels until 2018. With this regulation intention together the spontaneous uses from the wide range of marine applications are accelerating the increasing demand for ENCs at both of the navigational purpose and the non-navigational purpose. But there seems to be not enough guidelines or systematic approach for the service of the non navigational purpose. This paper deals with ENCs distribution issues. We present a integrated solution for the ENCs service of both user domains and also demonstrate the implemented results.
A Study on Development of Digital Nautical Publication

Nautical Publications is a special purpose book, or a specially compiled database, that is issued officially by or on the authority of a Government, authorized Hydrographic Office and is designed to meet the requirements of marine navigation such as SOLAS and PSC. Nautical publications include List of Lights, Sailing directions. The SNPWG(Standardization Nautical Publications Working Group) from the IHO is working to implement in computer systems all those elements of interest for Hydrography and Navigation Concerning nautical publications' digitization process, the SNPWG has defined three types of nautical publications: Type 1 : Hard copy(NP1), Type 2 : Digital version, A slight modification of type 1(NP2), Type 3 : Digital version for ECDIS(NP3). Nautical Publications is essential with nautical charts as reference information to navigate. Development of digital nautical publications is needed for liaison with the chart production system, up-to-dateness of hydrographic information, improvement of service. But, Korean status is positioned in NP1. In our study, we surveyed the present status of nautical publications for development strategy of digital nautical publications. We build database of south coast of sailing direction, develop a manager program, convert the contents to KML( Keyhole Markup Language), develop a user program.
A Study on EM Wave Absorber for Electromagnetic Wave Environment of Wireless LAN at 5.2 GHz

Recently, the wireless LAN system is rapidly growing because of its convenience of high speed communication. However, the wireless LAN systems at indoor places occur multi-propagation path by reflected waves from walls, ceilings, floors, and desks. Multipath problems cause transmission errors and degradation of communication speed. These problems can be solved by using EM wave absorbers. In this paper, we analyzed property of Graphite and derived the optimum ratio of Graphite: CPE to develop EM wave absorber for the wireless LAN system. First, we fabricated several samples in different composition ratios of Graphite and CPE, and then measured the reflection coefficient of each samples. Material constants of permittivity and permeability were calculated using the measured data and designed EM wave absorber. Secondly, the EM wave absorber was fabricated and tested on the base of the simulation data. As a result, it showed that the EM wave absorber in 1.7 mm thickness with the ratio of Graphite: CPE=50:50 wt.% has excellent absorption ability more than 27 dB at 5.2 GHz.
High gain and broad bandwidth antenna design using cylindrical magneto material

This paper describes patch antenna design method of antenna high gain and broad bandwidth using cylindrical magneto material around feeding line. Strong current induction method applied combination to generate magnetic fields around feeding line for antenna high gain characteristic and principle of PIFA designed application for design of antenna broadband. In case of single CMM, gain increased 3.96 dB compare with the reference antenna gain however bandwidth characteristic not increased compare with the reference antenna. In case of dual CMM, gain improved about 10 dB compare with the reference antenna and -10 below bandwidth is 700 MHz(50 MHz~750 MHz) with this paper designed high gain characteristic.
Development of EM Wave Absorber for Port Logistics RFID System by Using Amorphous Metal Powder

In this paper, we developed an EM wave absorber having the absorption ability of more than 15 dB for port logistics RFID system by using AMP. Firstly, we fabricated EM wave absorber by using AMP and CPE(Chlorinated Polyethylene) with different composition ratios 80:20 wt.% and 85:15 wt.%. Secondly, we designed the optimum EM wave absorber using the calculated material constants obtained from measured input impedance of the samples. Therefore, EM wave absorber with absorption ability of 17.5 dB at 433 MHz when composition ratio of AMP:CPE=85:15 wt.% and thickness of 5.5 mm.
Development of EMC filter for electronic equipments mounted on ships

It is very important to prevent the electromagnetic interference and to prevent malfunction of electronic equipments mounted on ships. To solve these problems, in this paper, the EMC filter was designed, fabricated, and tested. The Ni-Zn ferrite beads with high permeability were used to make large inductance as the inductor and the feed-through capacitors without any resonance points. As a result, excellent attenuation characteristics of 25~70 dB were obtained from the 0 kHz~1.5 GHz band. In addition, when the Electric Fast Transient (EFT) of 4 kV in the level 4 of IEC 61000-4-4 was induced the EFT reduced to 600 V. Therefore, it was clearly shown that the developed EMC felter can be used for suppressing the electromagnetic interference on-board electronic devices and equipments.
Development Model of Ship Management in Korea - Focused on the comparison of Korea and Japan -

Domestic ship management was extended by the growth of the shipping industry. It is time to specialize and globalize ship management not simply deploying seaman but managing ship owners' properties. This paper analyzes the reasons that Japanese ship management, which has been influenced ship management business in Korea, could not own the international level of companies and suggests the decline model of Japanese ship management business. Finally This paper provides the successful model of ship management business in Korea and the way to convert into the model.
A Study on Logistics Security Recognition of Domestic Logistics Enterprises

After September 11 attacks, as recently the range about security of physical distribution is rapidly spreading temporally & spatially, and it considers that the demand of understanding about logistics company is more than that of the past, now is the time that to establish policy for a comprehensive and systematic support policy that targets the entire supply chain considering the competitive of logistics beyond the responsibility for security of the field of import and export simply. In this respect, this study has identified recognition of domestic logistics company about global logistics security system that has recently been implemented in the country, and this level of recognition has really examined what is the impact of its logistics competitiveness and an intention to invest in related areas in the future. Based on this, this study has also proposed the supporting promotion and education for the expansion of logistics security of government & related agencies and effective way promoting to establish policies regarding this.
The Analysis of Wave Height Distribution in the Jumunjin Fishery Port with Seawater-Exchange Breakwater

When estimating the calmness in a harbor, it is important that diffraction and reflection of irregular waves should be exactly calculated. The basic equation of the numerical model in this study was used Mild-slope equation, which has the advantage of which non-linearity with great influence for the wave behavior can be considered, and a triangular mesh was generated by using finite element method. So as to verify the nonlinear effects, the results of the numerical model developed in this study are compared with the experimental and numerical results by other researchers. As a result, it is shown that the results in case of considering nonlinear wave are more exact for wave analysis than in case of not considering nonlinear wave. In order to apply this model, wave height distributions in Jumunjin fishery port installed a seawater-exchange breakwater are computed. From the results of this numerical analysis, when abnormal waves are intruded through the seawater-exchange breakwater, the results of the wave height distributions in the harbor are highly presented. Therefore, in order to get wave height low in the harbor, it is considered that the facility with the ability to protect the inflow of abnormal waves is needed.
The Study On A Marina's Construction Location Analysis Using Integer Optimization Programming

This study is to determine an optimal marina's construction location candidate among many alternative candidates in order to obtain the maximized efficiency under the natural conditions. To deal with marina's construction location, the optimal construction location is selected using 10 important factor analysis for 10 candidates in Yeosu city. In this paper, the new model to assign the most reasonable alternative is introduced using 0-1 integer programming. This proposed model has not been applied in the optimal marina's facility candidate selection problem yet. This paper will contribute to determine the most reasonable alternative. Also, this proposal model can be applied to other marina's facility candidate selection problem in other regions.
Study on change of Climate Environment at Waterfront in Busan - About Haeundae and Gwanganli -

Recently, the number of design for open-spaces at waterfront, such as open-air restaurant and cafeteria, has been increasing to provide openness and natural environment of waterfront. However, when planning open-air restaurant and cafeteria, it is essential to investigate the climate characteristic of waterfront, especially wind environment, since the waterfront has a special quality of climate like low-temperature and strong wind which differs from downtown or inland. In this study, wind environments of Haeundae, Suyoungman, and Gwanganli, the famous waterfronts in Busan, were investigated for design of open-air restaurants and open cafeterias. The main results were as follows. 1) the waterfront area of Haeundae, Suyoungman, and Gwanganli is suitable for open-air restaurant and open cafeterias; and 2) the appropriate period for open space in this area is from the end of March to November.
An experimental study on ice slurry creation by injection of an aqueous solution

This study is experimented to observe an influence of experimental conditions on production characteristics of slurry ice by injection operating water to cooling plate. And at this experiment it used ethylene glycol-water solution and the concentration is 10 to 20wt%. The experimental apparatus was constructed of ethylene glycol-water solution and slurry ice storage tank, brine tank, pumps for ethylene glycol-water solution and brine circulating, a mass flow-meter, data logger for fluid temperature measuring and a vertical circular tube with single copper plate as test section. A study on the development of automatic feeding system in an inland aquafarm

These days our coasts have been damaged by the polluted water resulting from the construction of industry on the shore, increasing population and urbanization. The destruction of ecosystem has induced many problems to aquaculture such that it raises the production cost of aquatic products for eating. For solving these problems aquafarm has been moving to the land. This paper intends to describe the automatic feeding system for the inland fish farm. An existent automatic feeding system has problems such that feed quantity is not accurate and feed itself is broken by feed motor. But a proposed system in this paper is more accurate than the existent system in view of feed quantity by using the combination of valve and load-sell. Resultantly, the system can safely transfer feed to inland nursery tank. Through several experiments using a real system, the effectiveness of the proposed system is verified under all conditions.
A Study on the Health and Organizational Effectiveness of Korea Coast Guard Substation organization: Focused on Recognition of Workers

By analyzing the data collected through surveys conducted on coast guard officers, this paper measures the level of organizational health and explores indicators of organizational health that influence organizational effectiveness. The findings of the analysis can be summarized as follows: First, the scores of all the organizational health indicators except job stress exceed average, which leads a conclusion that coast guard organizations' organizational health is in considerably good condition. Second, the indicators of organizational health included in the analyses are found to have both positive and negative effects on organizational effectiveness. While such variables as pay, co-worker relationship, job autonomy, job itself, organizational trust, job orientation influence positively, other variables including development-oriented culture, promotion system and supervision influence negatively on organizational effectiveness.
