A Study on the Holding Power Coefficient of AC-14 type and ASS type Anchor in Actual Ships

Vessels on anchoring are sometimes dragged due to the increased external forces. For preventing the dragging, it is required to enhance the holding power of the anchor. The holding power depends on the type and weight of the anchor and the seabed condition. Especially, the holding power of AC-14 type anchor is known to be 2~2.5 times bigger than that of ASS type anchor. However, these coefficients was determined nearly by the result of the model test, so there is a need to verify that by sea trial. Therefore actual dragging case was analyzed and then compared with the coefficients in use, it was found that the two of them are much alike.
ASF Measurements on Maritime by the Signal of the Pohang Loran-C (9930M)

A significant factor limiting the ranging accuracy of Loran (Long Range Navigation) signal is the additional secondary factor (ASF) in the time of arrival (TOA) measurements. Precise ASF values are essential if Loran deliver the high absolute accuracies demanded for aircraft approach, maritime harbour entrance. We measured the absolute propagation delay between Pohang Loran signal and Loran receiver output signal by comparing with Cesium atomic clock. In this study we measured ASFs between Pohang 9930M station and the 12 measurement points in the Yeongil Bay by using the measurement technique of absolute time delay. The measurement points were spaced at interval of 3 km by 3 km. An E-field antenna and an H-field antenna were used to improve the accuracy of ASF measurements and a DGPS (Differential GPS) receiver was used for accurate positions. We have gotten the result that the measured ASFs were compared with the predicted ASFs through this measurement technique.
Analysis of GPS signal environment at DGNSS stations

In this study, we analyzed the signal environment of 17 DGNSS stations operated by DGPS Central Office through TEQC quality checking, visibility analysis and site visits. With TEQC, we produced times series of four indices of TEQC quality checking: observation ratio, L1 pseudorange multipath, L2 pseudorange multipath, and the frequency of cycle slip events. From visibility analysis, the directions where missing observations are happening were identified and the result was verified through onsite investigation. Without considering TEQC indices at the six sites(Palmido, Eochungdo, Geomundo, Pyeongchang, Seongju, and Chungju), the average TEQC indices were: 98% observation ratio, 0.19m of L1 pseudorange multipath, 0.71m of L2 pseudorange multipath, and 1.3 cycle slips per 1000 observations. The observation ratios at Palmido and Eochungdo were low. It was found that receiver settings were incorrect so that they could track the P2 signal of GPS satellites with L2C capability. No signal-blocking obstacles were found around the Geomundo station except the lighthouse. Thus, we guess that the poor TEQC indices at the site are believed to be caused by problems in the GPS hardware or cables. The low observation ratio at Pyeongchang is being caused by the surrounding hills blocking the satellite view from the south to the northwest directions. Even though all of four TEQC indices were bad at Seongju and Chungju stations, we found that the signal reception environment at the two sites is in good condition. We think that the quality indices got poor probably because of malfunctioning equipment. So, further investigation is needed for the Seongju and Chungju sites.
A Study on the Design of Power System for Buoy

Stable power supply to a light mounted on a navigational buoy is indispensable factor because unstable power can lead to fatal marine accident. Despite the difference lies between onshore and offshore environment, as well as the power output characteristics, the PV(Photovoltaic) power generation system is designed by the independent onshore power generation system standards. Furthermore, the capacity of PV power generation system does not take into account the structural characteristics of the buoy in the sea. Therefore, the faulty design makes battery over-discharge owing to lack of the power generation and the battery can not supply stable power to the light. This paper introduces a design method for a power system of the PV powered buoy. The data has been acquired for 3 months period, which includes PV-generated electricity, power consumption and battery voltage from experimental buoy. Further, a power management features of the buoy has been analyzed based on the acquired data. From the analysis of the acquired data, it was evident that PV power generation system produces different electric power output depend on its installed environment - land and sea. Based on the analytical result, a design criterion has been proposed for the power system in the navigational buoy.
Hybrid & Fuel Cell Connection Power System for Ocean Structure

Ocean structure`s power system is difficult to construct a stand-alone power system. Therefore, to manage effectively power system of ocean structure, it`s important to construct power system which is connected fuel-cell with hybrid power system. This paper designs power system of fuel-cell for the sea based on hydrogen generation mechanism, calculation of using electric power, etc. Designed power system is analysed & simulated using LabVIEW program. And, this paper suggests design method of power system for ocean structure based on analysed & simulated results.

A Study on Scale Development for Marina Service Quality

Marina industry is growing as a higher value-added business. This study aims to develop a tool that measures marina service quality from marina users` perspective. As the result of empirical analysis, five of marina service quality aspects including physical facilities, support services, activity programs, employees` attitude, and safety were drawn. In addition, 20 measurement items whose reliability and validity were verified were suggested. The scale developed by this study is not only an important tool to measure marina service quality but also contributes to marina service quality control, and seem, to provide useful information for establishing marketing strategies.
Integrated Decision-making for Sequencing and Storage Location of Export Containers at a Receiving Operation in the Container Terminal with a Perpendicular Layout

This study deals with an integrated problem for deciding sequencing and storage location of export containers together at its receiving operation in the container terminal with a perpendicular layout. The preferred storage location of an export container varies with the priority of the corresponding loading operation and the waiting time of an external truck depends on its storage time. This paper proposes the mixed integer programming model considering the expected arrival time and expected finish time of an external truck and the preferred storage location for its loading operation. And we suggest the heuristic algorithm based on a simulated annealing algorithm for real world adaption. We compare the heuristic algorithm with the optimum model in terms of the computation times and total cost and the performance of the heuristic algorithm is analyzed through a numerical experiment.
A Study on the Evaluation of Competitiveness for Container Terminal Operators

As the annual growth rate of port handling container volume in Korea has faced slowdown, this paper attempts to find strategies for the domestic container terminal operators in order to enhance competitiveness. For this, the model of using AHP and the fuzzy set theory is used for evaluating competitiveness between domestic and global container terminal operators. The evaluation model hierarchy is developed based on SERM(subject-environment-resource-mechanism) theory of business strategy. The results show domestic operators are ranked lower than global player so that they particularly pay attention to the areas of scale of economy, business diversification, and globalization strategy.
A Study on the Analysis of the Competitiveness Level in Masan Port

Masan port is a representative port of Kyungnam region, and proceeds to work port development for the future. However, Analytical research related to current competitiveness and strategies for the future of Masan port have been little studied since then. Thus, the aim of this paper is to analyze the current competitiveness level of Masan port. To achieve this abjective, evaluation model based on empirical data was established. And then FHP-based index model that calculate competitiveness level of port was adopted. To analysis competitiveness of Masan port, Data from shippers calling at Masan port were collected. The result of data analysis showed that current competitiveness level of Masan port was 63.

Urban logistics plan of the previous cargo distribution law has changed into city logistics plan of logistics policy law in which its contents adjusted into direction to improve logistics industries, economic well-being and lifestyle conditions of the city. But the city logistics planning didn`t include yet a systematic backbone that plans a vision, performs propelled plan to realize it, and then gives feedback through scientific evaluation indexes. In this context, this paper reviews the previous logistics plans and helps operating and managing a efficient city logistics plan a mid-long term through representative index development required to establish city logistics plan.

The culture is a criteria of behavior and judgement for the member of the society and it also affects strategic alliance. The fail of strategic alliance between lines is affected more culture factors than financial factors and sales factors. Due to cultural factors impact on the strategic alliance partner for the failure of the most overlooked result of cultural differences so than most other factors, cultural factors should be considered for the first. Openness to cultural understanding and our partners, strategic alliances, consider the satisfaction of the members to perform successfully, can lead to strategic alliances.
