A Study of Development for EMAT sensor of an Lorentz force type

One of the areas in the continuous casting process that up to this point, has not been definitively instrumented is a method of reliably locating the part of a continuously cast strand that remains liquid for a period after the outer portion has solidified. To solve the problem. Electromagnetic Trandsducers(EMAT) which operate across an air gap without the need for a coupling medium has been developed. The system was designed to employ a through transmission technique which enhanced the signal-to-noise ratio. The Al 75

100mm simulators with 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 mm hole respectively has been produced in order to verify the developed EMAT system and to measure to liquid core in continuous casting strand. The system developed can be employed for the optimization of torch cutting speed and for the final cut length of the bloom as well as calculation of average bloom temperature.
Study on the characteristics of shot peened material

The effects of shot peening an the fatigue strength are studied in this paper. Applying the multistage shot peening on the material. the relation between the residual stress and fatigue strength compressive is investigated. Observing tensile strength elongation. reduction of area. hardness. and roughness. the results can be summarized as follows ; 1.The change of mechanical properties is small before and after the shot peening is carried out. The change of hardness is also small in high hardness material. 2.The surface roughness does not affect the fatigue strength. but the surface roughness is improved by multi-stage shot peening. 3.The fatigue strength of multi-stage shot peening material is 756MPa and is 1.78 times higher than that of un-peened material. 4.The maximum compressive residual strength of multi-stage shot peening material is -792MPa the fatigue strength seems to be improved by residual stress.
Buckling Analysis of Laminated Composite Plates

In this paper, the experimental and numerical results of buckling loads for laminated composite plates are compared. Using boundary conditions of buckling test are all fixed supports. Experiments were conducted for plates with fiber angles
and aspect ratio a/b=0.8. Experimental results were obtained from load-deflection curves of buckling test. Numerical methods were presented to evaluate buckling loads, using structural analysis results from ANSYS.
Conversational Programming System for NC Lathes (I)

A conversational programming system for turning processes was studied to enhance the user friendliness of a NC Lathe by adopting man-machine interface functions through Delphi programming tool under the Windows 95 environment. Functions of tool collision checking were developed through zone limitation algorithms. Final shape of workpiece was generated by means of tree structure algorithm. Shop floor programming performance was incorporated in the developed CAM module. In order to increase flexibility of the man-machine interface, graphic based programming tools have been developed. A NC turning machine equipped with an open architecture PCNC was used as a test bed of the system. Performance of the system was verified through case studies.
The Prediction and Classification of the Chip Fomation using Cutting Force

In order to achieve high flexibility in manufacture, chip control is one of the most serious problems at present. The continuous type chip (uncontrolled chip), which interrupts the normal cutting process and damages the operator, tool and workpiece have a higher force ratio. while the controlled chip which is 6 or 9 type and C type, has the values of the force ratio below 0.6 The chips were classified by 4 types. in chip formation and by described chip history during the cutting process. Finally, the feasibility of utilizing force ratios in chip control will be pointed out while comparing generated force signals during the cutting process.
Behavior of Mecnanical Properties of Friction Welded Materials for Various Friction Welding Conditions -For STS304 and SM15C-

In this study, behavior of deformation and mechanical properties under static tensile load in friction welded dissimilar materials. and necking phenomenon occuring at yeilding point are shown. Behavior of Hv(Micro Vickers Hardness) is observed that the maximum value is occured near by the interface. and the minimum value is arised at the heat affected zone. Fracture occured at the minimu value of Hv of the heat affected zone is observed. The position of fracture surface is subjected to behavior of Hv. Yielding strength subjected to friction welding conditions, specially to upset pressure is shown.
Crack Growth Behavior of Tensile Overload for Small Load Amplitude

This paper examines the crack growth behavior of 7075-T651 aluminum alloy for small tensile overload under high-low block loading condition. The cantilever beam type specimen with a chevron notch is used in this study. The crack growth and closure are investigated by compliance method. The applied initial stress ratios are R=-0.5 R=0.0 and R=0.25 Crack length, effective stress intensity factor range, ratio of effective stress intensity factor range and crack growth rate etc, are inspected with fracture mechanics estimate.
An Application of Computer Vision System for the Determination of Object Position in the Plane

This paper presents the application of computer vision for the purpose of determining the position of the unknown object in the plane. The presented control method is to estimate the six view parameters representing the relationship between the image plane coordinates and the real physical coordinates. The estimation of six parameters is indispensable for transforming the 2-dimensional camera coordinates to the 3-dimensional spatial coordinates. Then, the position of unknown point is estimated based on the estimated parameters depending on the cameras. The suitability of this control scheme is demonstrated experimentally by determining position of the unknown object in the plane.
Reliability Analysis of 4WS Elements Subjected to Dynamic Load

With increased loads in steered wheels and wider section tires the effort required at the steering wheel makes the driver's job very tiring and difficult. Improvements such as an increase in the mechanical efficiency of the steering system or lower steering box ratios help the reduce driver fatigue. Now using of power steering is increasing. It needs to be considering parts size of steering system as using power steering. This paper presents adjust part size of steering system form estimating reliability according to reducing torque under the dynamic load, In this paper, the spider of universial joint is selected to prove relation between steering and power steering reliability.
A Study on the Characteristics of Gavalume Steel Sheet

An extensive corrosion study was initiated by galvalume steel sheet manufacturing company to clarify the corrosion behavior of zinc and zinc-alloy coated automotive sheet steel in out panel and electrical application. Since the early 1980's the use of zinc and aluminum alloy coated steel for vehicular corrosion protection has increased drastically. This paper describes the evaluation of formability, weldability and painted corrosion performance of galvalume steel sheet. This paper presents an overview of the program and some initial test results on the weldability, lifetime of the electrode tip shape of the spot welding and corrosion protection. Galvalume steel sheet improved corrosion performance and spot weldability of galvalume steel sheet has no problem for the variation of welding current. And tip lifetime was changed according to the influence of shape.
System Development for Road Noise Prediction of Automobile Tire

Noise produced by surface transportation vehicles affects our daily lives, penetrating wherver man lives or works. In this paper, a theoretical model has been studied to describe the sound radiation by the surface vibration of in-service tires and studied about an experiment on sound radiation characteristic due to tire vibration. When a tire is analyzed, it has been modeled as a curved beams with distributed sprongs and dash-pots which represent the radial, tangential stiffnes and damping of tire, respectively. The experimental investigation for the sound radiation of a radial tire has been made. Based on the sound intensity and STSF(Spatial Transformation of Sound Field) techniques. the sound pressure and the sound radiation are measured. The comparison of numerically analyzed results with experimental results was made seperately for the tire in rotation. As a result of this study, a program for the prediction of the tire vibration sound radiation was intended to by developed which enables a designer of a tire to foresee the influence of the various design factors on the tire vibration sound radiation.
A Study on the Identification of Cutter Offset by Cutting Force Model in Milling Process

This paper presents a methodology for identifying the cutter runout geometry in end milling process. Cutter runout is common but undesirable phenomenon in multi-tooth machining because it introduces variable chip loading to insert which results in a accelerated tool wear. amplification of force variation and hence enlargement vibration amplitude From understanding of chip load change kinematics, the analytical cutting force convolution model was formulated as the angular domain convolution model was formulated as the angular domain convolution of three dynamic cutting force component functions. By virtue of the convolution integration property, the frequency domain expression of the local cutting forces and the chip width density of the cutter. Experimental study is presented to validate the analytical model. This study provides the in-process monitoring and compensation of dynamic cutter runout to improve machining tolerance and surface quality for industrial application.
A Study on the Development of Diamond Grinding Wheel with Multi-Porous Structure

Diamond wheels with fine grains and multi-porous structures are newely trial developed for smoothing and mirror finishing materials. Grinding wheel must have performed both to remove tool marks efficienitly and to contact elastically with curved surfaces, that are employed for ultra precision and high performance grinding of difficult-to materials such as tungsten carbide alloy using tool and die materials, Diamond grains are bonded by a melamine resin to prevent the decrease of machining efficiency due to grain sinking within the bond materials. Also, highly foamed structures are developed to increase the flexibility of the grinding wheel, and to induce self-sharpening by increasing contact pressure between the grinding wheel and workpiece surfaces. In this paper, melamine-bonded diamond wheels try to manufacture, then the forming method of grinding wheel are suggested, and the grinding characteristics of melamine-bonded diamond grinding wheel are also illustrated.
A Study on the Improvement of Formability of Automobile Body Sheet

Development on the mechanical properties of steel sheet for the automobile body panel is very important in the BAF(Batch annealing furnace) annealing process. Because of the heat treatment method in the BAF, mechanical properties was decided on the heat treatment method of the coil. So, we tested on the development of mechanical properties according to heat treatment method at the annealing furnace using the Ax(H
25%) atmospheric gas and the HNx(H
96%) atmospheric gas. As a result of several investigations. We confirmed the following characteristics ; mechanical properties was changed under the influence of the annealing cycle, the heat treatment method and the atmospheric gas. And, elongation in the HNx BAF was better than the Ax BAF. Finally, most important thing in the BAF is using of proper annealing cycle in order to get a good quality.
