The Propensity for Conspicuous Consumption of Adolescent Consumer and Its Related Factors

The objectives of this study are to examine the propensity of conspicuous consumption of adolescent consumers to investigate the effects of demographic variables socio-psychologival variables materialism on the conspicuous consumption of adolescent consumers. The survey of this research was conducted by means of self-administered questionnaire with 483 adolescent consumers attending middle school located in Inchon. Major findings are the following: (1) The propensity for conspicuous consumption of adolescent consumers averages 47.98 points. This score is beyound the middle slightly. (2) According to the results for examining the relative influences of variables affecting conspicuous consumption of adolescent consumers the relative importance stars school education the degree of taking in advertisement attitude of their parents self-esteem materialism gender and educational level of their father. Explanatory power of these variables totalled 70.5%
The Effects of mothers' Conspicuous Consumption on Adolescent Conumers' Conspicuous Consumption

This study investigates the importance of the role of mother to reduce conspicuous consumption of adolescent consumers. This study analyzes that the socio-demographic variables of adolescent consumers consumer ability the degree of materialism and the level at which the conspicuous consumption of the mother affect the conspicuous consumption of adolescent consumers. Analysis of the data collected from this study will be used to assist in reducing conspicuous consumption of adolescent consumers. A survey was conducted by questionnarire with 597 adolescent consumers attending middle and high school located in Seoul and their mothers. The results of this study show that the effect of conspicuous consumption of the mother was the most significant factor on the conspicuous consumption of adolescent consumers. The following factors were correlated with higher conspicuous consumption levels in adolescent consumers: 1) higher level of conspicuous consumption of the mother: 2) a lower evel of the moths consumer attitude ; 3) the lower educational level of the mother ; 4) whether the mother worked outside of the home rather than stayed at home full-time; and 5) less household income.
A study on Self-esteem and Subjective Evaluations to Work among Elderly Persons

The purpose of this study was to look into correlations between subjective evaluation on the work and self-esteem of the elderly so as to provide information for finding out ways of developing their self-esteem. The subjects of this study were 318 elderly persons in Chonnam and Kwangju city. The statistics used for data analysis were frequency percentage mean standard deviation reliability stepwise and multiple regression analysis through the SAS package program. the major findings of this study can be summarized as follows; 1) The self-esteem of elderly persons was 25,9 which was above the median 24. 2) According to the results related to subjective evaluations on the work among the elderly the positive correlation was by education level family situation economic state social activity level and health state while the negative correlation was by sex, age, and spouse. 3) According to the results related to subjective evaluations on the work among the elderly the positive correl tion was by worker identity job satisfaction quality of work time. 4) In model 1. variable affecting their self-esteem were health sate education level economic state health state age social activity level and sex. In Model 2, variables affecting their self-esteem were worker identity education level economic state age health state social activity level job satisfaction and sex. Especially self-estee of elderly was highly correlated with subjective evaluations on the work among the elderly persons.
A study on the Development of the Family Functioning Scale -On the basis of FFS developed by Tavitian et al.-

The purpose of this study was to develop wholistic Family Functioning Scale for Korean family bases on FFS of Tavitian et al. The data for this study was got from the sample survey of 370 mothers who had children of education period living in Seoul and kyunggi-do. The major findings were summarized as follows: 1) Through item discrimination method 34 items of the total items showed a high index ranged from .29. to .77 of discrimination coefficient 2) Factor analytic procedures selected 29 items among 34 items and extracted 4 factors(Positive Fmaily Emotion Family Communication Participation in Family Event and Sharing Family Worries) These factors accounted for 93.03% of the total variance. 3) A multiple regression analysis conducted to reduce the number of items yielded 26 items for the Family Functioning Scale 4) Internal consistency reliability for this scale showed high internal consistency(Cronbach's a= .86)
Differences of Satisfaction between Patients and Hospital Employees with Medical Care Services in the General Hospital

The aim of this study is to suggest theoretical foundations on which hospital employees could estimate medical care services not in the position of providers but consumers. For this purpose this study compares satisfaction of providers but consumers. For this purpose this study compares satisfaction of patients with medical care service with that of hospital employees. 287 patients and 261 employees in three university hospitals in Daegu were selected as samples of investigation and asked questions. Statistical analysis was taken using SAS package. The result of this study are as follows. 1) Among the five fields of medical services patients and hospital employees have different views in doctor hospital staff(except doctor) treatment system availability service but parking service 2) Hospital employees overestimate the level of medical care services compared with patients 3) Demographical variables make a difference in medical satisfaction 4) In satisfaction-evaluation after r ceiving treatment medical system service is influential variables in both patients and hospital employees. And in patient group doctor service is following variables while availability and parking service is influential variables in employees.
Bivalent Attributes and Dual Functions of Family Business

The purpose of this study is to discuss Faimly Business. Family Business means a business that is owned and managed by one or more family members,. Family Business is defined as one in which at 51% of the business is owned by a single family and at least one and more family members are involved in the management activities in addition to which transfer of leadership to next generation family member is anticipated. This study is to examine a clear understanding of the relationship between family functioning and business viability in families who own and operate businesses. The Overall objectives of this study are first to introduce the Family Business in the Home Economics Consumer Studies and Family Resource Management field second to theoretically review definition of Family business and related concepts bivalent attributes of Family Business the dual relationship of the social and business functions in the Family Business the dual relationship of the social and business fun tions in the Family Business, Family Business is characterized by the dual relationship of two naturally separate functions; the social function(the family) and the business function(the family business). The family in it's social function satisfies different social and emotional needs. On the other hand the business function is result-oriented the decision -marking process and behavioral pattern must be based on an objective economic model in order for the family business to compete and survive It's important to handle the overlap between the social and the business functions of Family Business and offers some guidelines on how to address with the overlap problems This study is a useful instrument for researcher educators practitioners and policy makers.
Study on the characteristic and caregiving behavior of families who awarded on filial piety

The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics and caregiving behavior in families who awarded on filial piety. Using the qualitative method 137 families and social supports to them were analyzed,. The major findings can be summarized as follows (1) Most of caregivers were daughter-in -law over 40 years in 3-generation or 2-generation family. Elderly can be characterized as oldest-old dependent long-term care for more than 10 years. (2) These families showed very high family solidarity with strong collectivity. (3) Their economic emotional and service cares were family-centered with helps from their extended family. These families were supported emotional helps rather than instrumental helps from social network. It was concluded that to help family elder care social support program for the frail elder caregiving families should be complemented in their children support program family life enrichment program for the inter-generational relationship medical care program other social network program and religion program etc. And more concrete and qualified study for the adaptation of filial piety families should be followed.
The Financial Crisis Effects on the Family Life -A Comparison bewteen Before and After IMF-

The purpose of this study were to identify the factors related to the changes of family total income total expenditures housing maintenance costs food expenditures and clothing expenditure, The data used for these purposes was collected from housewives living in jeonbuk area by questionaire in May 1998. Sample size of this data was 341 households. Statistics performed for the analysis were frequencies percentage means and multiple regression analysis. The results of this study were as follows; First monthly income decreased by 370,000 won than last year. The variables contributing to decreasing income were job type of household head and educational attainment of housewives the amount of total family current income total household expenditure and the perception of economic status. Second monthly expenditure decreased by 24,000 won than last year. The variables related to decreasing expenditure were educational attainment of housewives and the perception of economic stats. Third the variables related to their total household change were job type of household head number of family current household expenditure and the perception of economic status. finally the variables associated with total satisfaciotn of family life were the amount of leisure time the perception of economic attainment the confirmity of family and the amount of current household expenditure.
The Effects of Dramatic Play on the Children's Self Concept and Their Hyperactivities

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of dramatic play on the hyperactive-children's self concept and their hyperactivities. The subjects for this study were 144 five-year old children of Y kindergarten in Seoul. Through the Teacher-Questionary modified by Koung-ja OH(1986) 26 children were assigned to the experimental group and the control group 13 hyperactivity-children (boy:11 girl:2) in the experimental group had dramatic play of which the main themes were positive self concept formation. but the 13 children(boy:11 girl: 2) in the control group did not any dramatic activities. Experimental procedures for the self concept test and the hyperactivity test were pre-test experimental treatment and 2 times post-test by 2 months. Self concept test used for pre-test and post-test was The data was analysed using t-test and paired t-test. The result are as follows: 1. In the pre-test for self concept the scores of the control group showed higher than that of the expe imental group. But there were significantly increased difference between pre-test and the first post0-test in the experimental group. 2. In the second post-test for self concept of the experimental group after 2 months there were no significant differences between the first post-test and the second post-test. 3. In the hyperactivity test there were no significant differences in the control group,. But the experimental group showed decreased hyperactivities in the first post-test. 4. In the second post-test for the hyperactive-children's hyperactivities in the experimental group after 2 months there were no significant differences between the first post-test and the second post-test The dramatic play influenced on the hyperactive-children's self concept positively and the decrease of hyperactive-children's hyperacivities.
The Causal Relationship of Children's Behavior Problem and the Relted Variables

The purpose of this study was to analyze a causal relationship of children's behavior problem and the related variables(socio-economic status mother's psychological problem mother's affective parenting behavior children's negative emotionality and children's self-control). The major findings of this study were as follows: 1) Socio-economic status had indirect in influence to children's behavior problem via mother's psychological problem and mother's affective parenting behavior. 2) Mother's psychological problem had direct influence and also indirect influence to hildren's behavior problem via mother's affective parenting behavior and children's negative emotionality. 3) Mother's affective parenting behavior and children's negative emotionality had a direct effect on children's behavior problem and affected indirectly via children's self-control. 4) Children's self-control had direct influence to children's behavior problem. 5) Mother's psychological problem was the most signi icant variable affecting children's behavior problem.
The Level of Housework Socialization and Determinants on it

The purpose of this study were to 1) classify the domain according to the level f housework sociaklization and 2) illuminate the determinants on it. The subjects of this study were 564 married women living in Seoul. A questionnaire was used as survey method. Frequenciaes percentiles mean and regression were employed for data analysis. major findings were as follows; 1) The domain according to the level of housework socialization were purchases of storage food convemience food dining-out clothes repairing services and laundry wervices 2) Of market goods characteristics quality and time-saving characteristics were influencing variables in the level of storage food purchases. The affecting variables in the level of convenience food purchases dining-out and clothes repairing services purchases was quality of market goods. In the level of laundry services time-saving characteristics was significant.
The Case Analysis in the Problem of Wedding Practices

this study attempted to analysis the problem of wedding practices prevalent in Korean Society. For this it carried out literary research to understand the continuity and change in wedding practices. It also carried out case studies in order to find content and problems involved in present wedding practices. This study started from the assumption that wedding expenses are subject to parents if they are financially capable of providing their children with wedding expenses. Based on this assumption as a result of investigating wedding expenses and ceremonies depending on the parents in charge of wedding parents who charge of wedding tend to promote the extravagant wedding procedure to keep their needs of material goods which distorts the content and procedure of wedding
The Relationship between Mother's Shared Bookreading and Preschooler's Level of Distributive Justice Reasoning

The purposes of this study were to examine the relationships between how mothers scaffolded a shared bookreading task and the preschoolers' level of distributive justice reasoning and to investigate the mothers' shared bookreading process. The subjects were thirty-two 6-year-old children(16 boys and 16 girls) selected from 4 kindergartens and their mothers. The family SES was controlled. The children's response with story dilem,as and mothers' shared bookreading were audiotape recorded and transcribed and scored. Major findings were as follows; 1. Preschoolers' level of distributive justice reasoning were usually external characteristics - desire- need- and equity-orientation 2. There was no sex difference in the preschooler's level of distributive justice reasoning and the mothers' shared book reading process. 3. Preschoolers' level of distributive justice reasoning were significantly correlated with mothers' shared bookreading process.
