Husband's Role Recognition and Role Performance in Family

The purpose of this study was to probe the role recognition and role performance of husbands if family and to find out the variables which influence role recognition and role performance. the sample were selected from 503 husbands with children more than one living in Seoul The major findings were : 1) husbands` role recognition was relatively higher than role performance 2) Influential variables on the husbands` role recognition were the degree of home-orientedness communication-satisfaction and stage of life cycle. 3) Husbands` role performance was affected by communication-satisfaction degree of social support job satisfactions sex-role attitudes flexibility of job and jusbands` role recognition.
The Study on Wedding View in Literatures of the Customary Proprieties of a Fmaily

This paper aims to accomplish the work of finding and recreating factors of evelasting wedding view through studying literatures(
) of customary proprieties of a family The results of this study are as follows: The norm and meanings of wedding by way of education appear self-cultivation sincerity and carefulness ancestor worship morality of husband and wife filial duty to parents and parents-in-law rank and order simplicity. From this study on wedding view the efforts to accomlish the work of finding and recreating the factors everlasting inheriting value which would not be changed by social changes have to be made from now on.
A Comparison of the Financial State, the Expenditure Patterns, and the Expenses of Auto. - with the Reference to the Installment -

This study aims to investigate the difference of the financial state, the expenditure patterns of household, the expenses of Auto, and the influential variables on the purchase in automobiles according to the auto-installment. The important findings from the data based on the samples of household with only one car on the Korea Household Pannel Study by Daewoo Institute. 1) The financial state of installment households were not good than those of non-installment. 2) The expenditures of the purchase and maintenance of installment household were higher than those of non-installment. 3) Variables affecting to the expenses of the purchases of installment households were the evacuation of car, in the case of new car, household's net assets and the living level compared to last year. In those of non-installment households were the evacuation of car and in the case of new car.
Intimacy passion and commitment in marriage among Korean people: A test of the triangular theory of love

The predictions derived from Sternberg's triangular theory of love were tested in order to explain the love relationships in marriage among Korean people. We were first interested in whether the subjective love experiences of respondents could be characterized by three components: intimacy passion and commitment we then attempted to examine the time course of each component as the marital relationships continued. 16897 married men and women were asked to complete the questionnaire including the love scale developed by researchers based on Sernberg's and other researchers' work. The results are as follows: First the love experienced by Korean men and women in their marriage can be classified by 3 dimensions: intimacy passion and commitment. Secon intimacy is the most powerful indicator of love in marital rlationships follows bgy passion and commitment. Third each of the 3 dimensions of marital love showed a U-shaped pattern as the marriage continued. Fourth commitment was more table than the other 2 dimensions throughout the marriage. The resultso f the study showed that Sternberg's triangular theory of love is useful to explain the marital love among Korean people.
A study on the Relationship between Behavior Problem of Child and Child's Perception of Parents-Child Communication Family Cohesion and Adaptability

The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between problem behaivior of children and parent-adolescent communication family cohesion and adaptability as the variation of psychological environment of family. The subjects of this study were 494 children of sixth garders randomly selected from four elementary schools in Seoul and their parents. The result of this study showed that Empatic and supportive communication of parent-child above all father-child was suggesting to prevent children behavior problem. It is needed to consider family cohesion & adaptability according to behavior problem of character to develop suitable coping ability. Father and mother' endavor for opening communication. It was needed that to improve family cohesion & adaptability as a psychological environment of family.
Food Consumption Expenditures and Their Determinants: A Comparison of Employed & Non-Employed Elderly Households

Using the 1996 National Survey of Family Income and Expenditure Survey this study investigated the effect of employment status on food expenditure patterns of elderly households. The effect of employment status of elderly households was not significant in food-at-home expenditures while it was significant in food-away-from-home expenditures. As the results of this study income age family size education number of earners home ownership and region were found to influence the food-at-home expenditures of elderly households whereas income family size number of earners and education were significantly associated with the food-away-from-home expenditures of elderly households
The Recovery degree of Household Consumption level after-before IMF and it's influencing variables - Focusing on housewives' subjective perception-

The purposes of this study were to examine wives' subjective perception about recovery degree of household consumption level after-before IMF and it's influencing variables. The data used were obtained from 250wives in Seoul. Statistics performed for the analysis were Frequency Percentile Means t-test Multiple Regression Analysis. The major findings were as follows; First household consumption level after IMF was lower than before IMF household-wives had little perception of recovery for economics. Second the difference of household consumption level after-before IMF was affected by income income-change The higher income and income-change were the higher difference of consumption level-after-before IMF was. The purpose of this study was to review the current state and issues of family life welfare policy and service delivery system in Korea Up to now social welfare has exclusively represented welfare area and family life welfare has been treated as a subarea of social welfare not an independent area Recently the organization system of family life welfare in Korea was reorganized. The depatment of family life welfare was disorganized and the role and function of it was dispersed. Recycling Behavior and Consciousness on Household Waste

This study focused on recycling behavior and related variables. Specifically it aims 1) to investigate the level of recycling attitudes and behaviors 2) to find out variables related to recycling behavior, Data were collected with questionaire from 248 wives in Kwangju city. The results can be summerized as follows: The sorting behavior of waste was higher than median but active recycling behavior was lower than median. The recycling behavior was facilitated by wives' high age lower education level apartment dwelling and part-time job. In addition to motivate the recycling behaviors various implications discussed.
Consumer Complaining Behavior according to Problems and Dissatisfaction with Door to Door and Mail Order Sellings

This study is conducted a survey of consumer problems and dissatisfactionand their complaining behavior with door to door and mail order sellings. Results of the study show that both door to door selling and mail order selling the level of consumer complaining behavior was below median point. Path analysis of the variables affected complaining behavior showed that total causal effect to the biggest consumer dissatisfaction.
The Changes from the Traditional Society to the ndustrial Society in Housework

This study investigated the changes that occurred in housework from the traditional socie쇼 focused on the Yi Dynasty to the industrial society in Korea using the methods of historical research. The changes that occurred in housework had two principal effects. The first was to integrate the work of servants and children to the work of women. In the Yi Dynasty the servants called Nobi were entrusted with the hard housework and the children from their earliest dys assisted women in the house. The second was markedly to increase the productivity of the average housewife. In the period of industrialization the household technology might have eliminated the labor of housewives but housewives took the responsibility of almost all the processes in housework.
Factors Which Determine the Amount of Private Educational Expenditures of urban Households in Korea: With Special Reference to Extra-class Private Educational Expenditures of General High School Students

Relationships between socio-demographic variables and parents' education invest-ment motivation variables and extra-class private education expenditures were examined using a sample of 602 households in Inchon Korea. Tobit analysis was used. Singal-cognitive motivation parents' duty motivation household income housing asset father's occupation class and number of children had significant effects on extra-class private education expenditures on general high school students. To alleviate overspending in extra-class private education diploma pursuing society has to be changed and formal school education need to be properly functioning. Finally parents seek new child education paradigm for the creative labor demand in the next millenium.
Role Strain Coping Behaviors of Professional and non-professional Working Mothers

The differences of coping behaviors of professional and non-professional working mothers were assessed using data(n=704) from the working mothers with children under age 18. Professional working mothers' individual characters family and occupational conditions are more suitable than non-professionals for the coping behaviors. And such individual and situational aspects may relate to the differences of coping behaviors of he two groups. In general professional working mothers use coping behaviors more except the 'role reducation' and 'taking the support of fiends & neighbor' On the other hand the conservativeness and passive attitude in role strain coping is the same aspect of the two groups. Finally the relation of individual character family and occupational condition of working mothers to their coping behavios are slightly different in this two working mothers groups.
An Analysis of Household Portfolio according tow Wealth Levels

This study analyzed the household portfolio according to wealth levels using a survey data of 1997 Korea Household Panel Study. The major findings of this study are as follows: (1) A household in high wealth level has invested relatively large proportion of his asset into real estate (2) A household in middle wealth level has invested relatively large proportion of his asset into risky financial asset(3) A household in low wealth level has invested relatively large proportion of his asset into secure financial asset. These findings accorded with risky pyramid model.
Practice in Norm of Community by the Parents & Home Education

This study was attempted to find out the practice in norms of community by parent influence on home education. The sample were obtained from 945 parents in Seoul. The major findings were as follow; 1) level of the practice in norms of community by parent were insufficient. implementing and evaluating of home education 3) the practice in norms of community by parent have a more significant effect on the evaluating than planning and implementing of home education.
A Study on the Housing Life Situations of North Koreans and Their Housing Behaviors Based on the Interview and Empirical Survey with Defectors

South and North Korean societies have been segregated during the past 50 years with different socioeconomic conditions and ideologies resulting in disparate living cultures even though sharing the same traditional culture. The purpose of this study was intended to examine the housing life situations of North Koreans their housing behaviors and their perceptions of differences between South and North Korean culture. The study was based on in-depth interviews and an tempirical survey with North Korean defectors. The interviews were conducted with ten defectors and the empirical survey was done with 158 North Koreans who escaped after 1990. This study revealed housing life situations such as housing type. length of residence housing layout finishing materials levels of housing facilities and the residential system. It also revealed housing dissatisfaction and housing behaviors while they were living in North Korea and attempted to discover the defectors' perceptions of the differ nces between their housing life in the South and North. The findings of this research will present a realistic and recent account of the housing situation in North Korea. We hope that the result of this study will serve to foster understanding between two Koreas.
