Dynamic Behavior and Seismic Fragility Analysis of Shallow Foundation Bridge Considering Scour

If scour is occurred at shallow foundation of bridge, seismic performance of the bridge will be reduced. In order to evaluate accurate seismic response of bridge according to scour depths, modeling of foundation reflecting scour effect is important. In this study, taking into account the effect of the reduction in embedment depth of the shallow foundation by scouring, the soil around the foundation is modelled as an equivalent soil spring with various stiffness. Seismic fragility analyses for 3 types of bridges subjected to 4 types of ground motions classified into Site Class A, B, C, D are evaluated according to several scour depths. From the fragility analysis results, it can be observed that the deeper the scour depth, the higher probability of exceeding damage states. Also, seismic failure probability of asymmetric bridge is higher than that of symmetric bridge.
Seismic Object Performance Evaluation of Braced Steel Moment Resisting Frames with Low Rise Building under Different Site Stiffness

This study is the compared seismic performance that are difference between the performance of structures on various site classes and beam-column connection. this analysis model was designed the previous earthquake load. To compare the performance levels of the structure was subjected to nonlinear static and nonlinear dynamic analysis. Nonlinear analysis was used to The Perform 3D program. Nonlinear static analysis was compared with the performance point and Nonlinear dynamic analysis was compared the drift ratio(%). Analysis results, the soft site class of the displacement was more increase than rock site classes of the displacement. Also The smaller the displacement was increased beam-column connection stiffness.
Investigation of Resonance Occurrence Conditions by Dynamic Interaction Analysis between Arch bridge and KTX Trains

Resonance occurrence conditions are explored by performing dynamic interaction analysis of arch bridge and KTX trains. The target bridge is a 3D tied-arch bridge having span length of 120m. KTX trains consist of two power carriages, two power and passenger carriages and sixteen passenger carriages. When KTX trains run on the target bridge with the uniform speed of 100 to 500km/h, the dynamic responses of the bridge induced by moving trains are obtained from railway arch bridge-train interaction analysis. Two resonance conditions are presented and whether the resonance phenomena occur or not at the suspicious resonance velocities is rigorously investigated through bridge deflections and accelerations and their FFT analysis.
Real-time Semi-active Vibration Control in Cable-stayed Bridges by Shear-type MR damper and Clipped-optimal Control Algorithm

This paper is concerned with an experimental research to control of random vibration caused by external loads specially in cable-stayed bridges which tend to be structurally flexible. For the vibration control, we produced a model structure modelled on Seohae Grand Bridge, and we designed a shear type MR damper. On the center of its middle span, we placed a shear type MR damper which was to control its vibration and also acquire its structural responses such as displacement and acceleration at the same site. The experiments concerning controlling vibration were performed according to a variety of theories including un-control, passive on/off control, and clipped-optimal control. Its control performance was evaluated in terms of the absolute maximum displacements, RMS displacements, the absolute maximum accelerations, RMS accelerations, and the total power required to control the bridge which differ from each different experiment method. Among all the methods applied in this paper, clipped-optimal control method turned out to be the most effective to reduces of displacements, accelerations, and external power. Finally, It is proven that the clipped-optimal control method was effective and useful in the vibration control employing a semi-active devices such MR damper.
Seismic Performance Evaluation of Seismically Isolated Nuclear Power Plants Considering Various Velocity-Dependent Friction Coefficient of Friction Pendulum System

In order to improve seismic safety of nuclear power plant (NPP) structures in high seismicity area, seismic isolation system can be adapted. In this study, friction pendulum system (FPS) is used as the seismic isolation system. According to Coulomb's friction theory, friction coefficient is constant regardless of bearing pressure and sliding velocity. However, friction coefficient under actual situation can be changed according to bearing pressure, sliding velocity and temperature. Seismic responses of friction pendulum system with constant friction and various velocity-dependent friction are compared. The velocity-dependent friction coefficients of FPS are varied between low-and fast-velocity friction coefficients according to sliding velocity. From the results of seismic analysis of FPS with various cases of friction coefficient, it can be observed that the yield force of FPS becomes larger as the fast-velocity friction coefficient becomes larger. Also, the displacement response of FPS becomes smaller as the fast-velocity coefficient becomes larger.
