A study on the dependance of crucible dimension on AlN single crystal growth

For the special usage, the effort of developing AlN single crystals has been very hot in the world. The AlN-base UV LEDs are used on the field of sterilization, purification, curing and analyzing, which can advance human's living and medical processes etc.. AlN single crystals were grown by the PVT (Physical vapor transport) method. On the growing process, carbon crucibles with three different types such as normal size, taller than normal and wider than normal were used for comparison. The processing temperature was in the range of
and ambient pressure was 200~1 Torr. When the taller crucible was used, the sublimation mass was greater than normal dimension one but the best condition of growth changes widely. However the wider one gave much sublimation mass and growing condition was more stable than normal dimension. On limited growing furnace system, the changes of crucible dimension of PVT method provide the change of best condition for growth rate, as-grown crystal quality and growth condition stability.

The relationship between minority carrier life time and structural defects in silicon ingot grown with single seed

Among the various possible factors affecting the Minority Carrier Life Time (MCLT) of the mc-Si crystal, dislocations formed during the cooling period after solidification were found to be a major element. It was confirmed that other defects such as grain boundary or twin boundary were not determinative defects affecting the MCLT because most of these defects seemed to be formed during the solidification period. With a measurement of total thickness variation (TTV) and bow of the silicon wafers, it was found that residual stress remaining in the mc-Si crystal might be another major factor affecting the MCLT. Thus, it is expected that better quality of mc-Si can be grown when the cooling process right after solidification is carried out as slow as possible.
Characterization and synthesis of aqueous pink-red ceramic ink for digital inkjet printing

Ceramic ink-jet printing technology in art tiles, decorated tablewares and other porcelain products has many advantages of fast and precision printing of various images with high efficiency and low cost. For the application to ink-jet printing, ceramic ink requires a stable dispersibility with nano-sized pigments. In this paper, characteristics of pink-red aqueous ceramic ink for ink-jet printing was demonstrated.
pigment was synthesized using solid state reaction and deagglomerated using attrition milling. The aqueous ceramic ink contains 10 wt% of the obtained
nanopigment with 0.4 wt% of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) as a dispersion agent. Viscosity of
aqueous ceramic ink was adjusted using 0.18 wt% of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) for a suitable jetting from the nozzle. The prepared pink-red ceramic ink showed a good jetting property with formation of a single sphere-shaped droplet after

The degradation of refractories can be caused by erosion, friction of abrasive particles, as well as by corrosion by molten slag in the gasification reactors. A study on growing of bulk AlN single crystals grown having a (011) growth face of by PVT method

LEDs are considered to be an alternative for enhancement of energy efficiency, applied for numerous areas such as display, automotive headlight not only lights. Yellow phosphor is generally utilized with blue LEDs to generate WLED,
is typically used as the yellow phosphor. The phosphor, mixed with epoxy resin, has been used by being spread and hardened on the blue LED chip. This paste-based packaging gives rise to problems of degradation of phosphor by heat and decrease of luminous efficiency. Although phosphor plate is used instead of the epoxy-phosphor mixture to solve these problems, loss of luminous efficacy by total internal reflection inside the plate also should be solved. In this study, we coated the side of the plate with silver as one of the solution.
Evaluation of cement mortars blended with copper alloy slag

The cement mixtures such as flyash, iron-slag and silica fume have been actively studied in order to increase the quality of concrete. In this study, the grinded copper-slag with different proportion was added to portland cement. The physical properties of the cement mortars, (i.e.) flowability, absorption, compressive strength and flexural strength, were investigated for the potential application to the cement. Also, the influence of the acid on the chemical resistance of the cement mortars with copper-slag was evaluated by monitoring the weight variation of the cement mortars under 5 % sulfuric acid for 28 days.
