By introducing the concept of reliability of parallel systems the set covering. A branch-and-bound algorithm is developed and illustrated by a numerical example. The procedure has been coded and its computational efficiency is studied.
A Decomposition Method for Two stage Stochstic Programming with Block Diagonal Structure

This paper develops a decomposition method for stochastic programming with a block diagonal structure. Here we assume that the right-hand side random vector of each subproblem is differente each other. We first, transform this problem into a master problem, and subproblems in a similar way to Dantizig-Wolfe's Decomposition Princeple, and then solve this master problem by solving subproblems. When we solve a subproblem, we first transform this subproblem to a Deterministic Equivalent Programming (DEF). The form of DEF depends on the type of the random vector of the subproblem. We found the subproblem with finite discrete random vector can be transformed into alinear programming, that with continuous random vector into a convex quadratic programming, and that with random vector of unknown distribution and known mean and variance into a convex nonlinear programming, but the master problem is always a linear programming.
Revised Iterative Goal Programming Using Sparsity Technique on Microcomputer

Recently, multiple criteria decision making has been well established as a practical approach to seek a satisfactory solution to a decision making problem. Goal programming is one of the most powerful MCDM tools with satisfying operational assumptions that reflect the actual decision making process in real-world situations. In this paper we propose an efficient method implemented on a microcomputer for solving linear goal programming problems. It is an iterative revised goal simplex method using the sparsity technique. We design as interactive software package for microcomputers based on this method. From some computational experiences, we can state that the revised iterative goal simplex method using the sparsity technique is the most efficient one for microcomputer for solving goal programming problems.
Market and Shadow Prices in a Pure Consumption Economy With Institutional Price Constraints

When an economy has institutional price constraints the relationship between market prices and shadow prices is not yet fully investigated. A pure consumption economy is considered where market prices guide the consumption behavior and shadow prices measure the social value of resources. In this case we show that if the utility function is additively separable there exists a complementarity relation between the difference of the market price and the shadow price and the difference of the market price and the regulated upper (or lower) bound.
Influence Diagram Approach for Strategic Decision Structuring Process

The influence diagram is a new conceptual tool that can be used for structuring a strategic decision problem in decision analysis. It has a graphical representation of probabilistic dependence among variables in the decision problem. In this formal procedures for constructuring the influence diagram and for translating it into the corresponding decision tree are studied. An example that shows the power of the infuence diagram is shown.
Simulation Model Design and Analysis on Pprimary Health care System in Rural Community

This paper deals with analysis on complex and dynamic Primary Health Care (PHC) Systems in rural community to increase understanding of the nature of PHC feedback systems. Because Industrial Dynamics can be very useful for the analysis of such complex and dynamic systems. We used that as a basic tool of Modelling and simulation running. Even If PHC system-models require many assumptions, simulations based on these models can lead decision makers to a better way of problem solving.
Long Term Forecastig for Durable Goods by Cross Country Analysis Using Growth Curve

In this paper, the approach getting a total demand by forecasting the new demand and the replacement demand separately and adding them is used for long term forecasting of durable goods. Cross country analysis using the income as an independent variable and S-shaped growth curve as a fitting model is developed as a method of forecasting new demand. To get the replacement demand the methods using the number of ownership and the replacement rate and the methods using the past demand and the distribution of the product life are proposed. And the theoretical explannation for product life cycle's diversity, which is the one of the major considerations in the long term forecasting, is attempted by the combination of the new demand and the replacement demand patterns. This is applicated the long term forecasting of Korean passenger cars.
A Model for Project Selection of Information System

This purpose of this study is to suggest a tentative model for project selection of information system. In constructing a mathematical model, quantification of decision criteria is tried to lessen difficulties of measuring benefits of information system project. Suggested model enables us to select projects in the context of portfolio and information system policy.
