A Partial Backordering Inventory Model with a Drop-Shipping Option under Purchase Dependence

Drop-shipping is a commonly adopted online-order fulfillment strategy in the Internet age. In this practice, online retailers leverage the fulfillment capabilities of suppliers to fulfill orders. On the other hand, purchase dependence is a frequent phenomenon and is characterized by the purchase of certain items together due to their unknown interior associations. Although this concept has been significantly examined in the marketing field (e.g. market basket analysis), it has largely remained unaddressed in operations management. This paper develops an (R, T) model to address an environment in which unmet demand orders are partially lost and partially backordered when purchase dependence exists. The partial backorders are fulfilled by a drop-shipping option. Through computational analyses, this paper demonstrates the effect of both drop shipping on a partial backordering and purchase dependence. The results shows that more profit can be realized by utilizing a drop-shipping option under purchase dependence.
The Benefits in the Adoption of Proper Forms of E-Commerce and the Moderating Effects of E-Commerce Capabilities

This study investigated the relationships among proper types of e-commerce, patterns of inter-organizational information flow (IIF), benefits of e-commerce, and supply-chain performance. In IIF, it was empirically observed that environmental competition positively influences the frequency of IIF, and environmental uncertainty has a positive impact on the quality of IIF. It was also empirically confirmed that only quality of IIF has effects on the usage levels of e-procurement as well as e-partnerships. Through regression analyses and cluster analysis, it was found that under high degrees of the frequency and quality of IIF, the benefits of e-commerce are vastly realized in the firms that highly utilize e-partnerships. The results of this study also showed that when the degrees of quality of IIF are high, the levels of benefits of e-commerce are increased in the firms that employ e-procurement. The moderating effects of buyer and supplier firms' abilities on the relationships between patterns of IIF and usage levels in various types of e-commerce were empirically examined. According to the results, the moderating roles of buyer firms' capabilities and suppliers' abilities were partially demonstrated. Finally, it was found that the realization of benefits of e-commerce can lead to the improvement of supply-chain performance.
Development of a Stochastic Model for Wind Power Production

Generation of electricity using wind power has received considerable attention worldwide in recent years mainly due to its minimal environmental impact. However, volatility of wind power production causes additional problems to provide reliable electricity to an electrical grid regarding power system operations, power system planning, and wind farm operations. Those problems require appropriate stochastic models for the electricity generation output of wind power. In this study, we review previous literatures for developing the stochastic model for the wind power generation, and propose a systematic procedure for developing a stochastic model. This procedure shows a way to build an ARIMA model of volatile wind power generation using historical data, and we suggest some important considerations. In addition, we apply this procedure into a case study for a wind farm in the Republic of Korea, Shinan wind farm, and shows that our proposed model is helpful for capturing the volatility of wind power generation.
A Dynamic Configuration of Calibration Points using Multidimensional Sensor Data Analysis

Focusing on the drastic increase of smart devices, machine generated data expansion is a general phenomenon in network services and IoT (Internet of Things). Especially, built-in multi sensors in a smart device are used for collection of user status and moving data. Combining the internal sensor data and environmental information, we can determine landmarks that decide a pedestrian's locations. We use an ANOVA method to analyze data acquired from multi sensors and propose a landmark classification algorithm. We expect that the proposed algorithm can achieve higher accuracy of indoor-outdoor positioning system for pedestrians.
The Activation Strategy of Electronic Payment Industry Using Scenario Planning : Focusing Simple Payment

The domestic simple payment service was not activated yet compared to foreign countries and there are many things to complement in the legal, institutional, and technical aspects. The future image of the domestic electronic payment propulsion was considered by the scenario planning focusing on the simple payment. Total 6 future scenarios were drawn through the scenario planning, and 3 major strategy directions for attaining the preferred future scenario were drawn. This study drew a meaningful scenario through various analyses and industry specialist questionnaire about the future of the simple payment service which will be a crucial change of the domestic electronic payment under the uncertain future situation, and suggested an implication for the government and every interested party who provides the industrial service to prepare for the future.
Degree of Borrowing Constraints and Optimal Consumption and Investment under a General Utility Function

I study optimal consumption and investment choices of an infinitely-lived economic agent with a general time-separable von Neumann-Morgenstern utility under general borrowing constraints against future labor income. An explicit solution is provided by the dynamic programming method. It is shown that the optimal consumption and risky investment decrease as the borrowing constraints become stronger.
Effective Route Scheduling for Military Cargo-Plane Operation

A scheduled airlift is the most critical part of the air transportation operations in ROK Air Force. The military cargo-plane routing problem is a PDPLS (pickup and delivery problem in which load splits and node revisits are allowed). The cargo which is transported by a military cargo-plane is measured in pallet. The efficiency of pallet needs to be considered with respect to its volume and weight. There are some guidelines about orders of priorities and regulations in the military air transportation. However, there are no methodologies which can raise the efficiency of flight scheduling using Operations Research (OR) theories. This research proposes the effective computing methodology and the related heuristic algorithms that can maximize the effectiveness of the path routing model.
A Research on the Vehicle Routing Problem in the Disaster Scene

In 2000s, incidence of natural disaster is increasing continuously. Therefore, the necessity of research on the effective disaster response is emphasized. Korea is not safe from natural disaster. Natural disasters like torrential downpours, typhoons have occurred more frequently than before. In addition disasters like droughts and MERS has also occurred. Therefore, needs for effective systems and algorithms to respond disaster are increased. This study covers the vehicle routing problem for effective logistics in disaster situations caused by natural disasters. The emergency vehicle route problem has different property from the general vehicle route problem. It has the property of the importance of deadline, the uncertain and dynamic demand information, and the uncertainty in information transfer. In this study, a solution that focused on the importance of deadline. In this study, the heuristic solution using the genetic algorithm are suggested. Finally the simulation experiment which reflects the actual environment are conducted to verify the performance of the solution.
