A Study on the Method of Assigning Students to the High Schools by the Allied Entrance Examination. -Especially on the System of an Assignment for the Pre-Application and the Post-Examination. -
Korean Management Science Review, volume 7, issue 2, 1990, Pages 22~42
This paper deals with enhancement of the high school equalization assignment system to be executed by the allied entrance examination after the applicants graduated from their middle schools. In prevailing opinion, because educational demander's will has not been considered under the current system, it whose merits have been covered is required to be improved. If the application system of the entrance examination for the high schools will be returned, a situation that it will result in irregularity of the middle school education and in overheating entrance examination seems to appear explicitly. Since the averages of the allied entrance examination score of all the high schools, achieved by the equalization-application nearest assignment system which is named by writers of this paper, are equal, our system is good for maintaining the merits of the current system. More than 50% educational demander's will has been reflected by our system, so that we come to the conclusion that our system is excellent in all the systems verified up to now. Assigning students to the high school to make an average difference between three and five score, we expect that relection rate of the educational demander's will be increased more than 60%.

A study on shortest problem between specified nodes with multiple travel time
Korean Management Science Review, volume 7, issue 2, 1990, Pages 51~57
The purpose of this thesis is to find the shortest path between two nodes on an acyclic network where the arc costs are determined by the starting time at the starting node of the arc. A branch and bound method for optimal solutions and a heuristic method is developed. In heuristic method Dijkstra algorithm is modified to maintain the minimum arrival times of maximum informations in the each time period at each node and is updated by the result with the insertion technique. Expermetal results among two methods are presented with regard to run time and solution qualities.
Flexibility-New Move To Competition \ulcorner
Korean Management Science Review, volume 7, issue 2, 1990, Pages 58~76
Flexibility, in the context of manufacturing, refers to an ability to accommodate changes in market requirements in terms of product, process, and other services in a timely manner at a reasonable cost. The basic purpose of this paper is to analyze manufacturing strategies of leading Korean manufacturers in order to answer the following questions : How important are manufacturing flexibilities to Korean companies in restoring their once competitive cost-based strategies and adopting new variety-based strategies\ulcorner How effectively are Korean companies competing with their foreign competitors, like the US and European companies in terms of manufacturing flexibilities\ulcorner And in order to improve the flexibilities what kinds of manufacturing capabilities are considered as important key factors by Korean manufacturers and are their action programs effectively implemented to acquire these capabilities\ulcorner Major findings of the analysis indicate that Korean companies are very eager to reorganize their high-volume, cost-based corporate strategies as low volume, variety-based strategies. However, Korean manufacturers are still much dependent on the large size high volume factories and / or 'focus factories'. And the action programs and technologies to improve manufacturing flexibilities have been actively implemented at a higher rate than those of their foreign counterparts.

Korean Management Science Review, volume 7, issue 2, 1990, Pages 77~88
Operational Research (OR) is little in Bangladesh in either the academic or the business areas. However, some OR studies have been carried out in Bangladesh. These studies are scattered in various journals and documents and are not all easily accessible. In this paper an attempt has been made to bring together some of them.
