A study on the planted system of agricultural crops using non-stationary transition probability model
Korean Management Science Review, volume 8, issue 1, 1991, Pages 3~11
Non-Stationary transition probabilities models which is incorporated into a Markov framework with exogenous variables to account for some of variability are discussed, and extended for alternative procedure. Also as an application of the methodology, the size change of aggregate time-series data on the planted system of agricultural crops is estimated, and evaluated for the precision of time-varying evolution statistically.
A Study on Critical Success Factor Analysis and its Usage : An Aplication Study to the Steel Industry in Korea
Korean Management Science Review, volume 8, issue 1, 1991, Pages 13~25
Over the past few years, there has been a growing interest in using information technology for competitive advantage. A sustainable advantage is the key to the survival and growth of a firm. The successful implementation of information technology is dependent on efficient information systems planning. But the correct and complete information, requirements for effective information systems planning are frequently very difficult to obtain. In this paper the Critical Success Factors(CSF) method was employed as a means of managerial information requirements analysis for information systems planning in Korea's steel industry. CSFs are one of the few areas of activity that must go well to ensure the success of an organization. This paper addresses the concept and hierarchy of CSF analysis as a methodology in identifying corporate information needs and concludes with the use and benefit of results of CSF analysis.
AN INSTRUCTIONAL FMS LABORATORY: DESIGN, APPLICATION AND SIMULATION
Korean Management Science Review, volume 8, issue 1, 1991, Pages 27~39
This paper describes the instructional flexible manufacturing system(FMS) laboratory facility at Virginia Polytechnic Institute(VPI) which is directed at problems and issues in the design, implementation and control of computer integrated manufacturing systems. It begins with a configuration and an operational description of FMS laboratory facilities. Next, relevant curricula in manufacturing systems design and control, which can use the FMS laboratory for instructional purpose, are introduced, A computer simulation can be used as an excellent tool for analysis prior to implementation of FMS as well as an on-going improvement tool. A brief survey of simulation languages is lastly included.
Equipment replacement cost analysis within the construction industry
Oh, Hyun-Seung ;
Korean Management Science Review, volume 8, issue 1, 1991, Pages 41~50
Within the current construction industry, constractor equipment management practices lack structure and often are not addressed through an economic analysis and evaluation process. This paper explores two areas...cost of capital and inflation...with the intention of providing insight for a more structured and economic based approach to contractor equipment replacement practices rather than by the traditional "rule of thumb".umb".uot;.
Development of an integrated decision support system for FMS production planning and scheduling problems
Korean Management Science Review, volume 8, issue 1, 1991, Pages 51~70
This paper discusses planning and scheduling problems for efficient utilization of an FMS and presents an integrated decision support system for FMS production planning and scheduling problems. The decision support system, FMSDS(Flexible Manufacturing Systems Decision Support System), includes of data of handling module, part selection module, loading module, load adjusting module, scheduling module and simulation module etc. This paper includes the solution methodology of each subproblem. And an integrated interface scheme between the subproblems is presented. The interface scheme considers the relationships between the subproblems and generates solution using hierarchical and looping approaches. FMSDS is made up of six alternative models considering 3 loading objectives and 2 production order processing strategies. Performance comparisons among 6 alternatives and other decision support systems are shown using the non-terminating simulation techniques.

An optimization of crude oil tanker scheduling problems
Korean Management Science Review, volume 8, issue 1, 1991, Pages 91~108
This paper presents an efficient optimization algorithm for the crude oil tanker scheduling problem. The algorithm consists of two stages. In stage one, all the potentially optimal schedules (called 'candidate schedules') are generated from feasible schedules for each ship. In the second stage, a multiple ship scheduling problem is formulated as 0-1 integer programming problem considering only the those candidate schedules. The efficiency of the suggested algorithm was improved by exploiting the special structure of the formulation. The algorithm was illustrated by a numerical example and tested on practical ship scheduling problems.
Factors affecting relationships between the contextual vareables and the information characteristics of accounting information systems
Korean Management Science Review, volume 8, issue 1, 1991, Pages 109~125
In this study, it was empirically proved that there is significant congruence relationships between the information characteristics of Accounting Information Systems and the contextual variables of organiational structure, task characteristics, It was also supported that influence factors, such as user participation, top management support, capability of information system personnel and the existence of steering committee have an effect on the relationships.
