Performance Evalvation of Adaptive Equalizer in 3-Way Fading Channel considered Impulsive Noise and AWGN

In this paper, we evaluate and compare the performances of the tapped-delay line equalizer, the decision feedback equalizer, and the lattice-structured equalizer, for the recovery of the digital signal corrupted by the impulsive noise and the white Gaussian noise under the fading channel environment. Adaptive least mean square algorithm and least sguare algorithm are used in each equalizers. From the results of error performance analyses, we obtain that in order to produce
BER(bit error rate), lattice-structured equalizer have the SNR margin of 3.0 dB than LMS TDLE and of 3.9 dB than RLS TDLE, and SNR margin of 0.5 dB than LMS DFE and of -0.5 dB than RLS DFE in case that faded, and existed impulsive and Gaussian noise.
Adaptive active control in a duct using multiple models

The adaptive active control algorithm for duct noise attenuation is considered. A duct. is modelled using the superposition property when the acoustic feedback exists. All of the models of active noise control in ducts considered here are consistent. A new algorithm to estimate the secondary path transfer function (between the loudspeaker and the error microphone) using multiple models is presented. The computational burden of the proposed algorithm is much smaller than the existing methods, so it could be applied to the multi-channel cases. Computer simulations were done do show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm in a duct case

A Low Rate VQ Speech Coding Algorithm with Variable Transmission Frame Length

In this paper, an efficient variable transmission frame length(VTFL) speech coding method is proposed and its performance is studied by computer simulation. The proposed speech coding method is based on the idea that the performance of speech coding would be improved by varying the transmission frame length according to the stationarity of input speech signal and vector quantizing the representative feature vector of the transmission frame. In the proposed speech coding method, the feature vector sequence consists of P ARCOR coefficient vectors obtained by analyzing input speech signal sample-by-sample using the prewindowed recursive least square lattice algorithm. We take the segmentation from the input speech signal and then determine the representative P ARCOR vector in each segment. By joining the consecutive segments of phonetically similar characteristics using the likelihood ratio distortion measure, we can obtain transmission frames of variable length. From the computer simulation of total transmission bit rate while maintaining the good reproduced speech quality.
Systolic Array Implementaion for 2-D IIR Digital Filter and Design of PE Cell

In this paper, a realization method for 2-D IIR digital filter is presented, as it have been derived by applying a systolic procedure to the SFG(Signal Flow Graph). After we realized the I-D form partial systolic array, we implemented the complete systolic array to be cascade I-D form. The cascading of partial systolic array reduce the storage elements which used to delay input signal. I-D systolic array is derived from that DG is designed through local communication approach and then mapping it to SFG. The derivd structure is very simple and has high throughput because while new input sample is supplied, newoutput is obtained every sampling period, and broadcast input signal is eliminated. Since the systolic array has property of regularity, modularity, local interconnection and highly synchronized multiprocessing, thus it is very suitable for VLSI implementation. A PE design is based on the modified Booth's algorithm and Ling's algorithm. And a synthesis method for designing highly parallel algorithm in VLSI is presented.
Effects of Piezoelectric Material Constants on the Performance of Ultrasonic Transducers

We investigate the influence of individual piezoceramic properties such as elastic, dielectric, piezoelectric constants, and the coupling factor on the performance of ultrasonic transducers operating in thickness mode oscillation. The study employs equivalent circuit analysis techniques. Appropriate transfer function is obtained and discussed for each purpose, i.e. a transmitter, a receiver, and a pulse-echo transducer. The transfer functions suggest optimum selection guides of piezoelectric ceramics. The guide can help ceramic scientists find the direction to proceed in new material development.

This study is an evalution of acoustic performance on Play House and aims to propose a rational desing program through the checking of plan and acoustim evaluation in the Play House which is in the middle of accomplishment. The results will be used in the final stage of construction.
Phoneme Classification using the Modified LVQ2 Algorithm

In order to construct a feature map-based phoneme classification system for speech recognition, two procedures are usually required. One is clustering and the other is labeling. In this paper, we first present a phoneme classification method based on the Kohonen's feature map algorithm for clustering and L VQ2 for labeling. Then, to improve the performance of the phoneme classification system, we employ the modified LVQ2(MLVQ2) algorithm instead of LVQ2, which consists of four stages of learning: the selective learning(SL), LVQ2, the perturbed LVQ2, and LVQ2 again. In ML VQ2, improved performance results are obtained by perturbing the weight vectors of the netweork for further training. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed phoneme classification algorithm, we first construct six intra-class feature maps for six different phoneme classes by using LVQ2 and MLVQ2. From the phoneme classification tests using these six feature maps, we obtain recognition rates of 60.4% and 65.4% for the L VQ2-based feature maps and the ML VQ2-based feature maps, respectively.

Some Statistical Properties of MUSIC Null-Spectrum

A statistical performance analysis of the multiple signal classification (MUSIC) method os addressed in this paper. Some statistical properties of the MUSIC null-spectrum are obtained. From this we obtain a more exactexpression of the resolution threshold which is then used to evaluate the resolution capability for two closely located signal sources.
