Oh Hyun-Jung ; Rhee Eun-Young ;
Journal of the Korean Society of Clothing and Textiles, volume 14, issue 4, 1990, Pages 245~251
The purposes of the study were to efplain the independent influences of Asthetic Expression and Fashion on aesthetic evaluation in the clothing, to examine which in more important aesthetic components such as line/style, color, textile and detail in aesthetic evaluation in the clothing. Data were obtained from 221 female students living in Seoul area by eight photo-graphs of clothed bodies and a questionnaire. The data were analysied by Pearson's correlation, Analysis of valiables, scheffe-test and Regression analysis. The results of the study were as follows; 1. In the aesthetic evaluation of clothing, the
of the total variance was explained by Aesthetic Expression, the
of the total variance was explained by Fashion and
of the total variance were explained by Aesthetic Expression and Fashion. More important variable of aesthetic evaluation was found to be an Aesthetic Expression. 2. Among aesthetic components such as line/style, color, textile and detail in aesthetic evaluation of the clothing, such general aspects as color and line/style were perceived at first and then specific ones like textile and detail.

Journal of the Korean Society of Clothing and Textiles, volume 14, issue 4, 1990, Pages 252~261
This study intends to provide a beneficial foundation which can aid our understanding of how a clothing consumer group can be classified according to the clothing buying motives, and what differences are there about the importances of stroe image attribute among them and how consumer's preferences to the store image are shown differently among them and ultimately, some concrete data which can be useful in establishing efficient store image strategies for clothing stores. 413 subjects were gathered through convenience sampling method and, for data analysis, cronbach'
, frequency, percentage, mean,
, 1-test, ANOVA, Duncan Multiple Range Test, Factor Analysis, Cluster Analysis were conducted. The results are as follows; 1. Three kind of factors in the clothing buying motives were determined for analysis of consumers group and by which it was revealed as to be significant for us to classify them four subdivisions; those of fashion pursuit group, self display group, financial utilitarian group, individual group. 2. Importance on store image attribute was revealed then the middle aged women regarded quality, price, service in order as more important factors than others. 3. Store image preferences show significantly when concerned with quality, price, fashion, impression and age of store personnel, convenience for exchanging and returning goods, credit, delivery and repair, mailing of catalogue and discount coupon, exit from, brightness of store among consumer groups. From these findings, concretely store image strategies are proposed.
A Study on Softening Finish of Cotton Fabric using Cellulase
Kang Ji-Yun ; Ryu Hyo-Seon ;
Journal of the Korean Society of Clothing and Textiles, volume 14, issue 4, 1990, Pages 262~273
The purpose of this study is to investigate the softening effect of cellulase-treated cotton fabric and the damage on the fabric which is accompanied by the treatemnt. Cotton fabric is treated with cellulase under various concentrations and time, and the weight loss, hand values (by KES), surface characteristics, moisture regain, tensile strength, copper number and intrinsic viscosity of the treated samples and untreated samples have been compared. The results are as follows: 1. The weight loss of cotton fabric increased as the concentration of cellulase and the treating time increased. 2. The enzyme treatment had little effect on the stiffness of the treated samples but anti- drape stiffness decreased for the treated samples. Fullness and softness of the treated samples increased and crispness decreased with the lowest level reaching after two hours of the treatment for all concentrations. Scrooping feeling of the treated samples increased and flexibility with soft feeling increased as the treating time and the concentration of cellulase increased. 3. Moisture regain of the samples decreased as the treating time and the concentration of the enzyme increased and the treated fabric showed cracks on the fiber surface, and much surface fibers on the fabric have been removed after the treatment. 4. Tensile strength of the samples decreased as the treating time and as the concentration of cellulase increased, and the copper number increased while the intrinsic viscosity decreased as the treating time increased, but cellulase concentration had a little effect.
Consideration on Ease of Several Bodice Patterns
Geong Hyee Lag ;
Journal of the Korean Society of Clothing and Textiles, volume 14, issue 4, 1990, Pages 274~280
This paper is intended to grasp the characteristics of many bodices patterns which have been shown so far. The way is by selecting four characteristic kinds of patterns, making blouses offer the patterns and measuring ease. In measuring the degree of ease,
paired comparison is made use of. In analysis, variation ratio has come out of analysis of variance, and significance is tested by producing estimated values between patterns. The Result is summed up as follows. 1. After wearing blouses made ofter different basic patterns and measuring ease, the analysis of variance is made about the sensory value of ease. The result is as follows. 1) In the ease of different patterns, all the areas are significant at the level of
, regard- less of movements. 2) Under the influence of movements, the back area of arm hole is significant at the level of
in narrow movements, and the front and the back area of arm hole are each significant at the level of
in wide movements. 3) In the interaction of patterns and movements, bust and the under area of arm hole are each significant at the level of
in narrow movements, and bust is significant at the level of
in wide movements. 2. When comparing estimated values between patterns, the value of c is the largest and in the order of b,4, a. And in the other movements, the order changes into c,d, b and a. Thus the ease of blouses is different according to patterns. The reason for this is that the amount of ease of bust, the amount and location of darts, and sleeve cap height have complicate influences on the ease of blouses. Both sleeve cap height and the depth of arm hole have influences on the ease of sleeve. Consequently, in making clothes, it would be better to select and use proper patterns which go with the purposes and desings of clothes rather than to apply one pattern to various clothes.
A Study on the Development of Solar Heat Proof Hat for Summer Field Work
Choi Jeong Wha ; Jeong Young Ok ;
Journal of the Korean Society of Clothing and Textiles, volume 14, issue 4, 1990, Pages 281~291
Experiment I and II had done to develop the solar heat proof hat for field work in the summer. In the experiment I physical characteristics of several fabrics was tested to determine which one Is proper to make the solar heat proof hat. On the base of above results in the experiment II three improved solar heat proof hat was deviced and tested solar heat proof effect and compared the existing summer working hat by wearing trials in the environmental chamber. The results obtained were as follows. 1. In the view of the physical characteristics of six fabrics (Blue T/C, White poplin, Vapor transfer silver coating nylon taffeta, No vapor trans(or silver coating nylon taffeta, Aluminum coating T/C, Microporous fabric), the light color T/C and no vapor transfer silver coating nylon ta(feta is proper to make improved solar heat proof working hat. 2. Three improved hats that are made of white T/C, grey T/C and no vapor transfer silver coating nylon taffeta have more solar heat proof effect than the existing summer working hat. 3. Among the three improved hats, the improved hat that is made of no vapor transfer silver coating nylon taffeta is most effective to proof the solar heat.

Journal of the Korean Society of Clothing and Textiles, volume 14, issue 4, 1990, Pages 292~304
The surface change of upperarm and shoulder blade area are caused by the extensive upper limb movement, thus it is necessary to measure the amount of change for constructing the clothing. Moire photography was taken after plastic casters of upperarm and shoulder blade area was prepared. 1. For the shoulder blade area, subjects showed the same change of surface area for the various limb positions, wherease, for the upperarm only at the
limb position, same change was observed. 2. As the movement of the upperarm was increased, surface area of axillary part was increased and that of shoulder part was decreased. 3. To make a bodice pattern, the minimum size of the back with the ease were
+3.13 cm R for normal wear and
+5.75 cm for active wear. 4. As the movement of the arm was increased, the cross section for the upperarm were changed to elliptical shape. 5. For each horizontal basic line, there was a positive correlation between the amount of change of shoulder blad area and that of upperarm area.

Journal of the Korean Society of Clothing and Textiles, volume 14, issue 4, 1990, Pages 314~323
The purpose of this study is to investigate the visual effect of stripe patterns in one-piece dress. The results of the visual effects are as follows; 1. Comparision with experimental stripe patterns; experimental stripe patterns are likely to appear to be fat and wide in shape, and to be rhythmic, active, modern, unstable, not beautiful and dislike in sense. 2. The correlation between terms; there is a considerable correlation between 'the whole body looks fat 'and' the upper body looks fat'(r=0.84) when experimental stripe patterns are compared with vertical stripe pattern. When experimental stripe patterns compared with horizontal stripe patterns, there is a considerable correlation between 'rhythmic' and 'active' (r=0.90). 3. The results of factor analysis: commonly, factor 1 resulted in character of bodily shape and factor 2 resulted in sensuous charactor.
