Analysis of the Travel Characteristics of Vehicles using Digital Map and DGPS Received Data

This study was analysed the characteristis of traveling vehicles using the collected data by DGPS receiver. These data were checked the vehicle position in every 2 seconds and compared with GIS digital map after correcting the errors. These are compared travel speed and running speed overall and analysed the stopping vehicle in the middle of travelling. The stopping frequency, stopping time and stopping factor was analysed. The X, Y coordinates positioning of DGPS received data about stopping vehicle was analysed. DGPS receiver didn't position at first but positioned it exactly as time went. This study carried out the basic study about travel characteristics with digital map and DGPS received data. Few studies which applied advanced technology like GIS & DGPS have been executed. I hope that the more study will be executed in this traffic field.
Analysis of Spectral Reflectance Characteristic Change during Growing Status of Rice Plants using Spectroradiometer

Knowledge for reflectance characteristic of interesting targets will provide us with actual application of remote sensing on agriculture. In this study, we have measured and analyzed reflectivity characteristics based on growing status from transplanting time to harvesting time. Rice paddies transplant into 3 fields at 20, May, 1999. Measurement of reflectivity characteristics were carried out with a portable spectroradiometer for frequencies from 300nm to 1100nm during the time period from 11:00 AM to 01:00 PM of clear sky and calm a day. The measurements for a day repeated 3 times(also, 3 times to each measurement)for reliable values. In result, we found that averaged reflectivity of visible range has about 2.34% - 2.55% in blue region(400nm-498nm), about 5.05% - 6.01% in green region(500nm-598nm) and about 4.21% - 5.24% in red region(600nm-698nm). It must be noted that the more rice canopy grows, the more spectral reflectivity decreases in visible region. Also, we separated infrared region into two cases - One case is increasing region with 700nm-780nm, the other is fixed region with 800nm-1100nm. Averaged reflectivity of these regions has about 22.3% - 23.0% in increasing region, about 29.4% - 33.1% in fixed region. It must be noted that more rice canopy grows, the more spectral reflectivity also increases up to 23, Aug. in infrared region. After 23, Aug, the reflectivity has a tendency toward decrease.
Multi-temporal NDVI Change Patterns and Global Land Cover Dynamics

Average annual NDVI values from the NOAA/NASA Pathfinder AVHRR Land Data Sets from 1982 to 1994 showed comprehensive systematic displacement patterns in Asia. Inter-annual growing season data, however, did not show such systematic patterns. The most likely cause for the abrupt displacements, which appear especially in 1982, 1989 and 1990, may be changes in satellite sensors, although global warming, El Ni
o-Southern Oscillation events, changes in processing algorithms, and changes in land-use patterns in various parts of Asia may also play some role. The results suggest that researchers must be extremely careful in their inter-annual global change research, since direct use of the raw data could cause unexpected results. Growing-season NDVI shows decreases throughout most of Southeast Asia and modest gains in northern China and some parts in India, which could be related to land-use and land-cover changes.
A Study of Collaboration between GIS and Census Data for Urban Analysis and Location Analysis

The purpose of this study is to show how could GIS along with digital maps and census data be used for scientific urban analysis and location analysis for a proposed project. Results are summarized as follows. First. after digital maps being completed, the census tract system being adopted, and major urban data being inputted in the computer file, GIS could be used intensively for various reliable urban analysis. With graphic statistical, and overlay functions of GIS, various physical and socio-economic characteristics of urban areas could be presented for analysis in the form of thematic and datapoint maps on the computer screen. Second, the locational analysis for a proposed project is a major part in the building permit review process, which tends to become disputable and time consuming as society become pluralized. Along with various GIS functions scientific decision-making methods could be developed, and the methods could play an important role for faster and scientific location analysis. As such, GIS would play an important role for faster and reliable urban analysis and location analysis and these functions finally would play important roles to improve public services and administration of local governments.
Land Suitability Analysis of Collective Facility Area in the Kimhae Daechung Park using Geographic Information System and Multi-Criteria Evaluation

Geographical Information Systems(GIS) overlay analyses, while ideal for performing spatial searches on nominally mapped criteria, are of limited use when multiple uncertian criteria are concerned. But, Multi-Criteria Evaluation(MCE) techniques offer a means of making complex siting decisions, involving multiple criteria. The integration of GIS and MCE techniques became rational and objective approach to perform land suitability analysis on the basis of multiple criteria. An example application based on the search for suitable sites for the collective facility area in the kimhae daechung park using IDRISI is described.
A Study on Dividing the Feasible Areas to Cut and Calculating the Stumpage Value of Forests using Geographic Information System

This study was tried to calculate the stumpage value using GIS technique. Before calculating this price the feasible areas to cut were divided from all forests. The stumpage value per
was calculated by the method of calculating back from the market price, according to the working volume of logging unit and clearing a felling area using GIS. The distribution of the stumpage value for the coniferous stands was estimated from minimum 10,000 won to maximum 50,000 won, and for the deciduous stands the stumpage value was distributed from minimum 20,000 won to maximum 40,000 won. The total estimated selling price for the cutting available area (197.3ha) among this study area(250ha) except the cutting limited area was about 1.13 billions won. And the estimated selling price for the korean white pine stands was about 650 millions won, occupied 57% among the total selling price, and for the deciduous stands showed 383 millions won, occupied 34% of the total price, and for the japanese larch was 9.69 millions won, occupied 9% of the total price. But the rigida pine stands showed only 1.22 millions won.

A Study on the Construction Method of the Zone-Based Land Use Information System using Digital Topographic Maps - The Case of the City of Pohang -

The purpose of this study is to establish a Zone-Based Land Use Information System(ZBLIS) using digital topographic maps and public statistics data with a case for Pohang. The Basic Spatial Units(BSUs) used in ZBLIS is the administrative district units(Dong and Lie), and larger or smaller spatial units than this are brought out from BSUs. In the first step, the structure of ZBLIS is constructed to choose Analysis Zone on the top menu, and in subsequent steps, to choose Analysis Categories on sub-menu in terms of dialog windows, and then to choose Analysis Sub-categories and Analysis Theme. The 11 Analysis Categories are consisted of Population, Land Use, Transportation, Industry and Economy etc.. In this case study, it is found that there occur some technical problems in the process of making base-map from digital topographic maps, and inputting attribute data to this base map. For each of these problems, some handling method are recommended.
A Study on the Improvement Methods for Water Supply Facility Management System Implementation by GIS

The study was aimed to extract the improvement measures for the problem on GIS application GIS for water supply and sewerage pipeline facility management in the Jechon city. For this, it performed of analysis of their working and modeling with other relational contents of the water and sewer facility management. As the results, the implementation of water and sewer facility management system by use of GIS has to applying development through relational analysis not only pipeline facility and leaking water protection, pipeline network analysis but also digital topography, drawing data, water user's information.
