The Design and Implementation of Natural Environmental/Ecological Information System using GIS and RS Data

This thesis represents the integrated 3D DEM using both the process of satellite image and the real value of topographic maps. This DEM is draped on satellite image processed to improve representations of the real world. The 3D visualization and 3D animation with satellite imagery data enables to depict more vivid and realistic world. The paper also describes and implements the natural environmental/ecological information system that consists of 7 modules to manage environmental data systematically through an enhanced user interface. We make use of topographic map, satellite imagery data and several thematic maps. Each module has a user interface enabling to assist particular needs of decision-making for ecological/environmental assessments associated with spatial analysis of ecosystem and classification of the environmental status quo and other purposes.
A Study on the Implementation of New Address Management and Guide System for Jecheon City Area

The purpose of this study is development of the management and guide system for convenient use of new address guide system for systematic management and use of spatial information gained by mapping of numerical map of building and road to large basic new address, survey and input of main gate, decision of the road session, naming and input of road name, grant of numbering of all houses and buildings, new address guide, real life geographical information and added information service on web site in Jecheon-si city area. In this study, the development and establishment of new address management and guide system in local cities are designed by making full use of GIS function of client server based system. A guide system is designed the same database as management system, and it is transformed into Web GIS environment and developed in order to add the various functions of life GIS as well as new address guide. In the result, the effectiveness of new address system and guide of Jecheon-si city could be highly increased owing to not only citizens' easy access but also easy availability of various informations necessary in life by developed its system.
Chronological Study on the Deposits in Donggang Watershed(I) -Hierarchical Interpretation of River Topography using Remote Sensing Technique and GIS-

This research was carried out for analyzing watershed and river topography. The method based on experience and map was mainly used, but derived data are too much to effectively analyze. Therefore some researchers have introduced computer system using GIS technique and remote sensing data. This research used GIS and remote sensing technique for classifying and analyzing watershed and river topography. Also dendrochronology method was introduced for guessing the creation times of deposits. Stream order map, sub-basin delineation map, river-bed microtopograpy were produced through this research. These results may be used in planning for Donggang conservation.
Construction of Land Information System using Three Dimensional Digital Elevation Model Algorithm

Geography Information System is divided to many details fields such as Urban Information System, Land Information System, Military Information System etc. These detailed fields are connected each other and make National Geography Information System. Now Geography Information System is being used in many fields with Urban Information System. And information of all field is being constructed to network for share each other. Now Land Information System(LIS) is being constructed to two dimensional. But LIS can construct and utilize three dimensional geographic data by connecting Geography Information System and this effect will be greatest. Thus, the study of connecting cadastral map and digital terrain map must be continued. Through the study of connecting digital terrain map, the construction and analysis of three dimensional digital elevation model will be able to construct Land Information System effectively. To this study, the authors constructed integrated geographic data by uniting digital terrain map and cadastral map and constructed three dimensional digital elevation model. By connecting cadastral information database, the authors developed three dimensional Integrated Land Information System.
Development of Forest Fire Information Management System using GIS

Recently our nature of environment has destroyed by a large scaled forest fire. In order to manage these forest fires, forecasting of it is considered as the most important thing. In this paper the database related to forest fire was first built and the efficient forest fire information management system was implemented by using GIS. The main goal of this system is that forest fire managers have GUI(graphic user interface) to analyze data of forest fire effectively and update and retrieve information in database. For the efficient GUI, this system is built in Visual Basic 6.0 and Map Object 2.0. Map Object 2.0 is combined to have various and powerful functionality of GIS analysis as component ware. The Oracle 8.0 is used as DBMS in this study to manage all the spatial and attributed information in database effectively. In the future, this system will play a critical role as making a decision supporting system for scientific forest fire protection and help real time forest fire hazard information offers service for public welfare administration business management.
Analysis on the Variation for Speed Difference and Spacing of Travel Vehicles in Uninterrupted Flow using GPS

The travel behavior can be analysed microscopically using GPS because the travel characteristics can be found out by travelling two test cars loaded with GPS equipments. The speed difference and spacing variation between the lead vehicle and the following's in uninterrupted flow are the important variables related to capacity and safety. This study analysed these with data obtained by travelling the 4th Line and 28th Line of the national road. The variation width in speed difference in the run time is below 3.0%. But, related to the speed difference in the situation of acceleration and deceleration the difference after 4second is bigger than that just after the start. The spacing variation is similar to this. The spacing just before deceleration concerning safety was analysed. When the theoretical values by the modeling method and observed values were compared, the observed values were analysed 12.52% shorter than the other in average.
Extraction of Road Networks from High Spatial Resolution Satellite Images by Wavelet Transform and Multiresolution Analysis

This paper presents a new method to extract semi-automatically roads from high spatial resolution satellite imagery. This method is based both on wavelet transform and on multiresolution analysis combined in the "
trous" algorithm. As an urban road network consists on different classes of streets, multiresolution processing allows to extract the streets class by class. The method was applied to a KVR-1000 image on a part of Busan Metropolitan City. The method was carried out for the road extraction of three different widths and it succeeded in extracting good fitted strips. The accuracy analysis for three types of streets was also performed. The overall accuracy in 4 pixels of width is 80.5%. The result suggests that this method can be used to update road networks in the studied urban network. In summary, the multiresolution approach based on the wavelet transform, used in this study, is regarded as one of effective methods to extract urban road network from high spatial resolution satellite images.
