Development of Human Error Probability Program for Human Error Analysis of Chemical Plants

Human errors can take place in all levels that include the design, production, construction, operation and maintenance of plant facilities. It was found that the causes were concerned with the effects of human error. This study verified characteristics of the on-site operators and error mechanism, and used the classifying sheet to analyze human error that occurred in process. Also, by applying the ASEP(Accident Sequence Evaluation Program) HRA(Human Reliability Analysis) procedure, the algorithm to estimate the HEP and the ASEP HEP program to analyze human error in the plant were developed. If it is built in on-site, possible human error incident will be prevented and the systematic human error prevention strategy will be devised.
Experimental Study and Setup of Its Apparatus for the Formation of Hydrate in Porous Media

Since hydrate has been discovered on the earth, many numbers of experimental studies have been conducted for characterizing the fundamental properties of hydrates, such as equilibrium conditions, thermodynamic properties, structures, kinetics, etc. It is considered naturally occurred hydrates in porous rocks have a great potential as a future of unconventional energy resources, and the investigations of formation and dissociation of hydrates in porous media are required. In this study, an experimental apparatus was designed to perform experiments of hydrates in porous core. With the apparatus developed, firstly, isochoric experiments were conducted to find hydrate equilibrium conditions in porous media, and the results were compared with reference data to verify experimental apparatus and methods in this study. Secondly, experiment of formation was examined by observing the behaviors of pressure and electrical resistance and the effects of initial water saturation on formation were analysed.
The Study of Kogas Membrane Performance Test for LNG Storage Tank

LNG demand has been rapidly increasing in Korea for a variety of reasons including stable supply, non-polluting, and high combustion efficiency characteristics. One of the most important structural core element of the LNG storage tank is the membrane, consisting of stainless steel. The membrane to be applied inside of LNG storage tank is provided with corrugations to absorb thermal contraction and expansion caused by LNG temperature. Experimental studies are presented to investigate the deformation and strength of the membrane which is designed by Kogas. All experiments are conducted on the basis of RPIS, and we found the results is fully satisfied with the RPIS.
The Estimation of earthquake-resistance for gas utility using Equivalent Static Analysis

The purpose of the present study is to analyze the response of Gas Utility subjected to Earthquake and to discuss the failure prediction of Kogas Storage Tank. Initially here, characteristics of Earthquake are reviewed and then earthquake-resistance Design is investigated based on previous earthquake hazard cases. Next, considering the distribution of the transverse permanent ground displacement and equivalent spring constant effect, formulae obtained by a beam theory are established to analyze PeungTak Center Control Room. This analysis was performed without consideration of axial effects. So the finite element analysis was used in order to consider the axial stiffness of Structure.
Integrity comparison for various design specifications of corner protections in LNG storage tank

] nickel steel LNG storage tank have double containments that can store cryogenic LNG independently. Inner tank material is used as
nickel steel and outer tank is constructed by concrete. Comer protection which is installed on inner surface of concrete corner is consist of
nickel steel liner and form glass insulator that make reduce tension at corner when LNG is leaked from inner tank. It is very difficult to design corner protection because expansion and contraction of liner make stress state complex. Corner protections of operating tank in KOGAS are designed by Japanese engineering company such as TKK, KHI and England company of WHESSOE. This paper is mainly focused on the integrity comparison of them according to requirements of Appendix 4 in ASME Section VIII Div. 2 by using FEM.
A Study on the Durability of the Polyethylene Coatings for Underground Pipeline

This study has been carried out to evaluate the reliability by examining the properties related to durability of commercially available coating systems in domestic. For this purpose slow crack growth resistance and oxidative induction time tests were introduced, which have been accepted as durability parameters in polyethylene pipes with low pressure. Based upon the experimental results on these parameters, desirable minimum values are proposed for the durability enhancement of the polyethylene coatings.
The FEM Analysis of Membrane for LNG Storage Tank

Analytical studies have been performed to investigate the strength of the membrane and the reaction force at the anchor point. Using nonlinear FEM code and experiments, the stress analysis of the corrugated membrane related the cryogenic liquid pressure and thermal loading is performed to ensure the stability and fatigue strength of the membrane. This paper reports on the FEM results of membrane.
A Study on Risk Assessment in Transporting Hazardous Material

In this research, the goal is to ascertain the potential danger when transporting hazardous material by considering the important elements that contribute to such situation, instead of relying on the quantitative risk assessment of fixed facilities. Also, this study will verify the social and personal risk according to damage zone limits, by applying the worst case scenario and the alternative scenario that occur during the transportation process. Moreover, it has selected the optimum transportation route for maximum safety. The result of this research could be used to construct a systematic emergency system that can minimize the damage from serious industrial accidents, by effectively decreasing the danger zone and forming a connection between the community, the society, and the industries according to such evaluations.
