On the Leakage Safety Analysis of Membrane LNG Storage Tank With Thermal Resistance Effects

In this paper, the FE analysis has been presented for the leakage safety of the membrane LNG storage tank based on the thermal resistance effects between the insulation panel and prestressed concrete structure. The FEM calculated results show that the leakage safety of plywood and polyurethane materials does not guarantee any more due to a strength failure of the insulation structure. But the PC structure of outer tank may delay leaked LNG of 10 days even though the inner tank and insulation structure are simultaneously failed. This means that the membrane LNG storage tank may be safe because of the stiffness of the outer tank.
Consequence Analysis for Accidental Releases of Toxic Gases through Risk Based Inspection using API-581

Accidental releases of toxic gases heavily affect to the risk of process facilities. In this research, consequence analysis for accidental releases of ammonia and chlorine gases was studied using the risk based inspection, based on API-581 BRD. It was found out that consequence areas (toxic areas) decrease as temperature increases and as the pipe diameter and pressure decrease. For the same release condition, the toxic area by the release of chlorine gas was larger than that by the release of ammonia gas.
A study on the improvement of process operation through the adjustment to the flow rate of LNG HP pump

This study has been carried out to improve the conditions of process operation through the adjustment to the flow rate and outlet pressure of LNG HP pump, one of the main process facilities, in LNG receiving terminal. We have determined optimum flow rate and applied it to the field operation by analyzing the field operating performance for all the HP pumps and the load of natural gas supply in seasonal using the ASPEN PLUS. As a results, we have get the electric cost saving for the HP pump operation and derived contribution to safety operation by reduced the LNG Process pressure.
An analysis of influence on chemical additives in gas hydrate formation

This work carried out experiment to change characteristics of hydrate formation using various chemicals which are acetone, dimethylbutane, polyvinylalcohol, methanol and ethlyene glycol as additives in gas hydrate formation. Gas storage ability of formed hydrate with acetone, firnethylbuthane and polyvinylalcohol in gas hydrate formation increased higher than that obtained with pure water. Among them polyvinylalcohol showed best gas storage ability, so it is a more useful promoter Methanol and Ethylene gl?col in using additives showed the characteristics of inhibitor and methanol is lower gas storage ability than ethylene gl)rcol as a inhibitor in hydrate formation, so it is a more useful inhibitor. But, low concentration of methanol and ethylene glycol showed considerably higher gas storage ability of hydrate than that obtained with Pure water and showed the characteristics of promoter in gas hydrate formation.
Optimized Design of Metal Seal Structure for a Pressure Vessel using Taguchi's Experimental Method

In this paper, the metal seal for a pressure vessel has been analyzed using the Daguchi method. This method may efficiently optimize the design parameters for a cantilever sealing device of a pressure vessel in terms of dimensions and angles. The computed results indicate that the optimized design parameters can only be drawn by sixteen experimental numbers of iterations when the Daguchi design technique has been employed. This means that the Daguchi design method is very useful for the optimization design of the curved design of the structure. Adsorption Properties of Ca-exchanged Clinoptilolite under Low-temperature

The breakthrough curve was obtained to evaluate separation efficiency of clinoptilolite as an methane/nitrogen separation adsorbent. The Ca-exchanged clinoptilolite showed improved separation efficiency. The nitrogen adsorption capacity of Ca-clinoptilolite was increased with decreasing temperature. The temperature was decreased from 293K to 253K(feed gas flow rate : 670ml/min, pressure : 333kPa). The adsorption capacity is increased with increasing pressure. The pressure was increased from 333kPa to 700kPa(feed gas flow rate : 670ml/min, temperature : 253K, 293K).

We study on and simulate the behavior of one-step fixed bed reactor which synthesize DiMethylEther(DME) from Methane. At last, we know that reaction is decreased in case of excess and no cooling because the temperature of reactor is decreased or increased seriously. Also, we study on optimizing the reactor so that we know the optimized operation condition according to cooling effect, space velocity of reactant and temperature of reactant, etc.

A Study on the safety measures for the protection of hydrogen cooling system of generator

This paper provided a counter measures against the troubles and accidents that are likely to take place in the power plant using hydrogen gas as a coolant for the cooling system of the generator. Because of the extremely wide flammability limits of hydrogen in comparison to the other flammable gases, the safety measures against the hydrogen accidents is very important to ensure the normal operation of electric-power facility. This study's purpose was a presentation of standard model of safety management of hydrogen equipments in the coal firing power plant such as following items: 1) providing the technical prevention manual of the hydrogen explosions and hydrogen fires occurring in the cooling system of power generator; 2) the selection of explosion-proof equipments in terms of the risk level of operating environment; 3) the establishment of regulations and counter measures, such as the incorporation of gas leakage alarm device, for preventing the accidents from arising, 4) the establishment of safety management system to ensure the normal operation of the power plant.
A study on the explosion proof by the electric discharge on voltage application type

It is necessary to eliminate the electric static for the prevention of disasters by electric static discharge, the improvement of production efficiency, the protection of a sensitive electronic devices in the variable manufacturing processes. Then it is handled for elimination of electric static in the painting plant, the film manufacturing plant, the producing semi-conductor factory. This study described on the ideal condition of electric static elimination efficiency by changing of the length of voltage input type eliminator's bar, the length of copper pipe and the gap of electrode and the existence of explosion by inflammable gas with that conditions. As the result, the electric static elimination efficiency has the most ideal value at the 8-11(mm) gap of the earth electrode and needle type electrode each elimination bar and there is not explode at the explosive experiment of inflammable gas with the ideal elimination bar. We can consider that there are some data which are needed for elimination efficiency and it will be able to protect the occurrence of explosion accident inflammable nas in the industrial fields.
A Study on Selection Method of Hazard Evaluation Technique for Gas Industries

This research was for the analysis of gas industries and 12 Hazard evaluation techniques for the industries, and present the selection guideline of the techniques using 6 factors affecting them. 4 indexes & consequences of incidents into 8 characteristics. Also, combining the indexes with the selection procedure in flowchart format could reduce improper techniques and present alternatives. Also, it is used as guidelines to get safety improvement plan to gas companies.
