A Study on the Development of BIM Guideline

A recent introduction of BIM has raised a necessity for BIM guidelines and guidelines following the decision about the BIM introduction are being present both home and abroad. This study hereby intended to develop BIM guidelines to the architectural field, for which the role and development directives of BIM guidelines were set up based on BIM concepts and examples of foreign guidelines. As a result, the role of guideline in (1)Activation of BIM (2)Support BIM process (3)Support and enhance collaboration (4)Standardized implementation of construction information (5)Technical support for BIM utilizing technology. It also classified the role of each guideline, standard and manual to establish detailed development directives. Besides, regarding the BIM process to clarify the goal to share among participants, information levels per stage and applicable scopes, for the sake of when to introduce BIM and how to use it properly, their contents were suggested in consideration of applicable BIM technologies based on business for each design stage at home.
BIM based Design of Steel Box Girder

In domestic construction industry, there is lack of the communication between planning, design, construction and maintenance. This problem makes the omission of information and the loss of cost. Therefore, the introduction of BIM can be a solution about that. BIM manages all information generated during all life-cycle of a structure and consequently maximizes the efficiency of utilizing information. This is done through 3D information model associated with a three-dimensional(3D) parametric CAD. This study proposes the design process of steel box bridge for structural design work of bridge construction project based on BIM. This process has 3D modeling progress done by using the information decided in design phase. When the subject for the proposed process is superstructure of steel box bridge in construction, the structural calculation sheet can be derived with the structural design process based on BIM.
A Study on the Automated Estimating System using BIM based Library

The BIM techniques which manages information over the life cycle of construction project based on the 3-dimensional model are developing in the direction of integrated construction management including planning, design, analysis, estimation, 3D simulation and so on. The estimation model based on the BIM has different detail level and model information. In this study, the LOD of estimation model is catched for the bridge structures. The library classes are defined with construction information classification system, and the quantities of resources are calculated by class parameter using Microstation API. Finally, the automated estimation system using BIM based library is verified by the integrated model for adjustments of level of detail.
A Study on the Development of a BIM-based Spatial Planning Simulation System for Architectural Planning Stage Support

The planning stage of an architectural project has much more significant effects on the cost or outcome of the project than other stages of the project. In addition, the importance of architectural planning has been further increasing according to the recent trend of construction projects becoming larger in scale and more complex. In spite of this, the current situation is that the planning stage work is not being systematically managed. Accordingly, the purpose of this study was to develop a BIM-based simulation system for providing support during architectural planning stage such as spatial planning & review, cost review, project owner requirements management, etc. It is easy to review various alternatives using this system that allows not only the modeling of space object modeling but also the instantaneous review of spatial area & layout, cost, etc. based on object information. In addition, it can be used as a communication tool with the project owner as it provides the visualized information and quantitative data of the building model, and the information created through this system can be delivered to the following stage for usage. It is thought that using this system, the entire project work including the architectural planning stage can be supported and even contributing to the advancement of architectural process.
Development of BIM-based CPLM System for Civil Project Management

BIM technology, based on 3D model of civil engineering structures, creates and manages information of the structures throughout four stages: Planning, design, construction, and maintenance. BIM is now used around the globe for improvement of the construction productivity. However, in order to expect the efficient engineering work, collaboration system between participants in a construction project is necessary. Therefore, in this paper BIM based CPLM (Construction project lifecycle management) system was designed and developed by analyzing the requirements of participants of a construction project. CPLM system offers an environment which enables the sharing and management of information according to the each stage of construction. CPLM is expected to aid cooperative decision-making during the overall construction process through the process innovation and the efficient data management.
