Static equilibrium and linear vibration analysis of a high speed electric train system
Journal of the Korean society for railway, volume 2, issue 4, 1999, Pages 1~8
A formulation to perform static equilibrium and linear vibration analysis is presented in this paper. The formulation employs minimum number of equations of motion which are derived by using a partial velocity matrix. The static equilibrium analysis is performed first, then the linear vibration analysis is performed at the static equilibrium position. By using the formulation presented in this paper, static equilibrium and linear vibration analysis of a high speed electric train system are performed. A single bogie system, a power car vehicle, and a train system which consists of five vehicles are analyzed, respectively. Natural frequencies and a few lowest mode shapes of the two are identified in this paper.
A Study on the Ground Improvement by Compaction Grouting System
Journal of the Korean society for railway, volume 2, issue 4, 1999, Pages 9~19
The use of compaction grouting evolved in 1950's to correct structural settlement of buildings. Over the almost 50 years, the technology has been developed and is currently used in wide range of applications. Compaction grouting, the injection of a very stiff, 'zero-slump' mortar grout under relatively high pressure, displaces and compacts soils. It can effectively repair natural or man-made soil strength deficiencies in variety of soil formations. Major applications of compaction grouting include densifying loose soils or fill voids caused by sinkholes, poorly compacted fills, broken utilities, improper dewatering, or soft ground tunneling excavation. Other applications include preventing liquefaction, re-leveling settled structures, and using compaction grout bulbs as structural elements of minipiles or underpinning. In this paper, on the basis of the case history constructed in this year, a study has been performed to analyze the basic mechanism of the compaction grouting. Also, the effectiveness of the ground improvement and the bearing capacity of the compaction pile has been verified by the Cone Penetration Test(CPT) and Load Test. Relatively uniform compaction grouting column could be maintained by planning the quality control in the course of grouting. And, the Qualify Control Plan has been conceived using grout pressure, volume of grout and drilling depth.
The study on the bearing capacity and settlement of a foundation placed over a tunnel
Journal of the Korean society for railway, volume 2, issue 4, 1999, Pages 20~31
When a foundation on the ground with tunnel is constructed, the ultimate bearing capacity of a footing is reduced by tunnel. In practice, structure may bate a considerable damage because of large settlement. This study shows that the settlement which is caused by variety of the ultimated bearing capacity leads fatal damages to the footing above tunnel. Therefore, it is necessary to study on the reduction both of the ultimate bearing capacity which leads a failure and of tolerable settlement which satisfies the safety of the building. For this reason, the variety of ultimated bearing capacity was analyzed using tub-dimensional elasto-plastic finite difference method in this paper. As a result, bearing capacity of the foundation above tunnel should be determined after establishing limit of allowable settlement and considering reduction-ratio of bearing capacity.
Energy Storage And Power Compensation Based on Flywheel WRIM System
Journal of the Korean society for railway, volume 2, issue 4, 1999, Pages 32~39
A flywheel system which can compensate electric power is presented. The designed system has a capability of providing real and imaginary power instantaneously as well as storing energy. In this paper, a control algorithm is designed. The designed algorithm is to control the secondary side current of the wound rotor induction motor using voltage-based PWM inverter. The flywheel system has advantages in converter size and power quality improvement comparing to the conventional system.
