A Controller Design of the Bilinear System for HVAC(Heating, Ventilating and Air-conditioning) System
Journal of the Korean Society for Railway, volume 3, issue 4, 2000, Pages 177~184
In this paper, a HVAC controller which has a bilinear system is designed to control the air temperature in building room and a saving of energy on the HVAC system. For modeling of the HVAC bilinear system, AHU(Air Handling Unit) is modeled on the control of inside-outside air flow using three dampers in a duct. A heat exchanger and the single room are also modeled by the energy conservation law. Under the modeling of the HVAC bilinear system, the control's law of the bilinear HVAC system is derived by Lyapunov's non-linear theory and Deress's the linear feedback laws for bilinear system. In this paper it was proved that the controller of the HVAC bilinear system is able to control the air temperature with a disturbance in order to get a target of temperature in the building room by the computer simulation when the control inputs regulate the air flow rate and a capacity of the heat exchanger.
A Development of the Third Rail Current Collecting Shoegear for the Light Rail Transit
Journal of the Korean Society for Railway, volume 3, issue 4, 2000, Pages 185~193
In general, a third rail current collecting shoegear is widely used in the light rail transit system since it is more efficient and economical than an overhead pantograph. Therefore, its specification is prescribed in the Korean standard specifications for the light rail transit for its applications. This paper describes the development of the third rail current collecting shoegears which is suitable to Korean situation and satisfactory to the Korean standard specifications. Two types are developed for the steel wheel and the rubber tyred AGT system, and various experiments are executed. It is found that performance of the third rail current collecting shoegear developed is proved acceptable.
Study on the Fatigue Behavior of a Joint between RC and SFRC Subjected to Shear
Journal of the Korean Society for Railway, volume 3, issue 4, 2000, Pages 194~202
Fatigue behavior of shear joints between the combined reinforced concrete(RC) and the reinforced steel fiber concrete(SFRC) specimens has been experimentally investigated. Experimental parameters used are the amount of steel fiber and the type of shear joint. Six specimens have been tested under static load, and eight specimens have been subjected to the fatigue load in a range of 50 % and 5 % of the ultimate static load. The purpose of this research is to propose an empirical formula for fatigue shear behavior of the combined RC and SFRC structures on the basis of experimental result. It can be observed from experimental results that addition of steel fibers to concrete specimen increases the static ultimate load by approximately 25 %, enhances the fatigue behavior, and also reduces vertical and lateral displacements at the shear joint for a given load cycle after the occurrence of first crack.
A Study on the Stability Evaluation of Railway Embankment under Rainfall
Journal of the Korean Society for Railway, volume 3, issue 4, 2000, Pages 203~212
In order to evaluate the stability of railway embankment under rainfall, explanatory variables and subordinate variables were selected for multivariate analysis. Furthermore the site which had occurred failure due to rainfall was investigated, and by executing multivariate analysis for 121 cases, critical rainfall was defined by the case that had high value of correlation factor The maximum hourly rainfall during 24 hours before failure caused the collapse of railway embankment and could be used estimate the stability of railway embankment. From the result of application to a collapse example, the evaluaton method by critical rainfall curve is satisfactory.
A Characteristics of Bearing Capacity by PG Pile on Waste Landfill
Journal of the Korean Society for Railway, volume 3, issue 4, 2000, Pages 213~218
Waste landfill is so loose that it may cause the insufficient bearing capacity and the differential settlement. And so, characteristics and conditions of the ground should be considered in applications of ground improvement in waste landfill. In this paper, analysis of field tests as the static loading test and the bearing capacity test were performed. In result, PG(Pack Grouting) pile method is proved effective and economic, because it could bring about the increase of end bearing capacity, the prevention of differential settlement and increase of density by expansion of pile.
A Study on Electric Circuit Modeling and Analysis for AC Railway System
Journal of the Korean Society for Railway, volume 3, issue 4, 2000, Pages 219~228
This paper presents an advanced approach to simulate AC electric railway system in steady-state. The algorithm consists of two parts. One is circuit modeling of elements of electric railway system, the other is an analysis on electric circuit. The modeling procedure has two steps, in the first step, proposed is the modeling method which is considered to be an internal impedance of the autotransformers and mutual impedances between the feeding systems. For the load(locomotives) modeling which is the second step, improved results are obtained as application to the proposed constant power model compared with constant impedance model. In the analysis on electric circuit, a generalized analysis method using the loop equation has been proposed and there is no limit in the number of trains between the ATs. In addition, the computer simulation by the proposed model was practiced. Simulation result seems very reasonable. It is therefore concluded that techniques for the electric circuit modeling and analysis have been established. Accuracy of the techniques will be further investigated.
Numerical Simulation of the Unsteady Flow Field Induced by a High-speed Train Passing through a Tunnel
Journal of the Korean Society for Railway, volume 3, issue 4, 2000, Pages 229~236
In this study, the unsteady flow field induced by a high-speed train passing through a tunnel is numerically simulated by using an axi-symmetric Euler Equation. The modified patched grid scheme applied to a structured grid system was used to handle the relative motion of a train. The hybrid-dimensional approach which mixed 1D and axi-symmetric dimension was used to reduce the computation time and memory storage. By employing the hybrid-dimensional approach, a long tunnel as much as 5 km was able to be simulated efficiently. The results show that the maximum pressure rise in the tunnel by the entrance of the train is a function of both train speed and train-tunnel cross-sectional area ratio. The unsteady pressure fluctuation in the tunnel and around the train was also investigated in the real condition; Korean high-speed train on the Seoul-Pusan line.
