The Journal of Korean Academic Society of Nursing Education, volume 11, issue 2, 2005, Pages 127~134
Purpose: The purpose of the study was to develop a cooperative clinical nursing education model in response to the challenge to provide quality clinical instruction for nursing students. Method: A hypothesized model was developed based on literature review and Cho's partnership model of preservice teacher. Final model was refined with cooperative committee meetings, workshop and post clinical education meetings. Results: A Cooperative clinical nursing education model was developed with three phases(collaboration, planning, redefinition of major roles) and ten constructs(organization of cooperative committee, goal setting, partnership contract, planning objectives, and operating manual). Conclusion: The Cooperative clinical nursing education model support the need for continued collaborative partnership between nursing college and hospitals to foster quality clinical instruction.

Yang, Nan-Young ; Yoo, In-Ja ; Han, Sung-Suk ;
The Journal of Korean Academic Society of Nursing Education, volume 11, issue 2, 2005, Pages 135~141
Purpose: This study was to investigate the factors influencing performance of preceptors and preceptees. Method: The selectees were composed of 27 preceptors and 27 preceptees. The preceptors were given twenty six hours of education and training concerned with theory and practice and then the preceptors mentioned above gave the preceptees vis-a-vis education and training for four weeks. The data were collected through a questionnaire survey of general characteristics, performance, autonomy, empowerment, organizational commitment. The data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and the Stepwise multiple Regression. Results: The differences of performance, autonomy, organizational commitment and empowerment were found to have a significance between preceptors and preceptees in preceptorship. The performance was significantly correlated between autonomy, organizational commitment and empowerment of the preceptors and preceptees. Stepwise multiple Regression analysis for performance revealed that the most powerful predictor was empowerment. These variables accounted for 37.7%(preceptors) and 54.6%(preceptees) of variance of the performance. Conclusion: The findings above indicated that the preceptorship was significant as nursing management intervention to increase nurses' performance. Therefore it may be necessary further to develop and apply, such as performance, autonomy, empowerment, organizational commitment in preceptorship.

Park, Mi-Young ;
The Journal of Korean Academic Society of Nursing Education, volume 11, issue 2, 2005, Pages 161~168
Purpose: The purposes are to identify the factors that influence work-based stressor experienced by clinical nurses and to provide a perceived causal structural model among these factors. Method: Data was collected and analyzed in 2 steps to apply a perceived causal structure : network analysis which was developed by Kelley(1983). Results: 1. The extracted causes from qualitative data were identified 10 categories ; over loaded work, relative feelings of deprived, inefficient duty schedule, negative attitudes of patient, burden of extra affair, inadequate administrative support, negative attitudes of physician, conflict with other personnels in hospital, lack of professional knowledge and skill, nursing service marketing burden. 2. Construction of the perceived causal structural model ; 1) The most central cause is over loaded work and the distal causes were inadequate administrative support, lack of professional knowledge and skill in the systems of causation. 2) The causes that have a number of outgoing link were over loaded work, inadequate administrative support, negative attitudes of physician. 3) The cause that have a number of incoming link was relative feelings of deprived. Conclusion: The network suggests that the first centre cause was related on over loaded work.

Choi, Jung-Myung ; Kim, Eun-Kyung ;
The Journal of Korean Academic Society of Nursing Education, volume 11, issue 2, 2005, Pages 177~183
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify factors which differentiate ex-smokers from smokers among patients with cardiovascular disease. Ex-smokers were patients who abstained from smoking for at least 6 months. Method: The subjects were 92 male cardiovascular patients who try to quit. The stepwise discriminant analysis was used to identify predictors of smoking cessation. Result: 1. The ex-smokers(n=47) and smokers(n=45) were significantly different regarding the age, duration after diagnosis, nicotine dependence, family support for smoking cessation, and intention-to-quit. 2. The family support for smoking cessation, intention-to-quit, nicotine dependence, and age were the predictors which differentiate ex-smokers from smokers among cardiovascular patients. The percentage of grouped cases correctly classified was 92.4%. Conclusion: The higher the family support for smoking cessation, intention-to-quit, age and the lower the nicotine dependence, the more likely these smokers were to success smoking cessation.
